Hello Butterfly

Sometimes I think my best work comes when I am just creating for fun with no pressures to fill a challenge or use a particular image.

That's what happened here...

I used this cute image from fellow design team member Deena at  A Creative Need and a leftover diagonal striped background leftover from a previous creation.

So much fun!

Thanks for the visit!

PaperCrafts Magazine CASE - My Choice 2

Welcome to our last day of CASEing fun!  Today is my pick and I am excited to have picked this card by my blogging friend Barb.  I was so excited when looking through the PaperCrafts March/April 2012 issue and saw her name!  She is such a great card maker and all around nice person.

For my CASE of Barb's card, I decided to keep to the layout and the bright colours alongside the black.  I opted to create a piece of designer paper using stamps and ink.  I found some of my favourite Hero Arts flowers and filled up a page.

I know the card base looks brown but in real life it is black like Barb's card.

Okay, now to see what Lindsey did with this awesome card.  I think she had some awesomness up her sleeve....

Thanks for dropping in to enjoy our CASEing fun.  Remember to leave us a link to your blog if  you decide to play along with us.

PaperCrafts Magazine CASE - Lindsey's Choice 2

Welcome back to our second week of CASEing cards from the March/April 2012 copy of Papercrafts Magazine.  Lindsey and I really enjoy doing this and there were LOTS of great cards to chose from in this issue.

Here is Lindsey's choice:

I opted to keep to the sense of the card ... strips of colours and a verticle element on the left side of the panel.  But as you can see, I did go out on a limb a bit.

Wouldn't this be a great card to give to a young boy or girl for their birthday or just to tell them how proud you are of them!  The gourmet sucker is added to the card using removable glue dots.

Okay, now ... I have been dying to see what Lindsey had in store for this card. Gotta run over to her blog Bashful Blogging and see what she did.

If you too want to play with us, CASE this card and leave a comment with a link so we can check it out.

And finally, drop back in tomorrow to see the card I picked and our CASE of it.

Image Swap - April

Hello!  Today I am sharing the card I created for a swap I am in.  This image, from Tanja is so cute.  She added the challenge to use red and blue, which I think was a perfect choice for the image.

While you can't see it in the photo, the stars are all painted with Twinkling H2O and looks really shimmery in real life!

And see my sentiment bubble ... made with felt!  So fun!!

Miss You !

Coming up on Wednesday is a Crafty Creations Challenge that stars A Day For Daisies images.  They have so many great images in the store!!   I had picked this increadible image because I knew it would be useful for many 'hard to make' cards - like when a family loses their dog, or a child's friend moves away, a basic miss you card, or even a sympathy card.  However, this is such a masculine image and the challenge this coming week is to make a girly card.  So, I decided to showcase this lovely image today for you all to enjoy!

You really should go to the store and see all the amazing images available - you will not be dissapointed!
And make sure you come back on Wednesday to see all the cards made with A Day For Daisies images!!

PaperCrafts Magazine CASE - Lindsey's choice

I knew you'd come back!  If you missed yesterday's CASE cards, make sure you go to my post yesterday and check it out.

But today is Lindsey's pick and she chose this stunner by Sarah Jay (on page 22).  She particuarly liked the technique.  Now, there are really 2 techniques here ... the shadowed sentiment as well as the masking.  I opted to use both and keep my card very similar to the original.

However, I decided to go with a different colour combination.

I chose some of my favourite flowers from various Papertrey Ink sets.

and here is a closer up of the shadow sentiment.  To create it, I stamped the sentiment once and then moved the image slightly to the right and stamped again (2nd generational stamping).  The stamp set is from Lawn Fawn.

Okay, now off to see what Lindsay did with this CASE.  I'm always so excited to see what she has created.  And don't forget to leave a link in a comment if you decide to play along with us.

And we are planning to post again next week on Thurs and Fri more CASE cards!  See you then.

PaperCrafts Magazine CASE - My Choice

Lindsey and I are at it again!  We have picked cards from the magazine Paper Crafts (March/Arpil 2012).
Today is my pick and I just had to choose this one by Jaclyn Miller (page 52).  Such an amazing layout!

So for my card, I kept the layout and the polka dots ... and changed a whole bunch of things.

And now off to see what Lindsey created using this layout.

Wanna join us??  If you have the magazine, why not give this CASE a try.  Just leave us a comment and let us see what you did with it.

And don't forget to come back tomorrow when we will both show you CASE cards based on Lindsey's pick.  It's a good one!  You won't want to miss it.

Crafty Creations Challenge #166 - Yellow + another colour

Today is another Group 1 week at Crafty Creations Challenges #166 ... but you all know I love to play along with my friends!!  Today's challenge is to use Yellow plus one other colour.  I decided to go with grey, London Fog (Memento) to be precise.  A few weeks ago I went searching for a good grey and this was what I ended up purchasing at my local scrapbook store.

Not sure if you can tell but I covered lots of the flowers with dazzling diamonds glitter (Stampin' up!).

The glitter is amazing in real life ... so, like usual, I kept the overall card very clean and simple so not to compete with all that glittery goodness!

Okay, make sure you head over to Crafty Creations Challenges blog to see the rest of the design team cards and to upload your creation for a chance to win this great prize package

See that 6x6 Picadilly BasicGrey pack ... totally worth it .... my all time favourite BasicGrey paper!!

Thanks for dropping in.

CASual Friday #48 and Less is More #63 - Hugs

Hello.  Nice to see you again LOL!

Today I have a card that again (2 days in a row) fits for 2 challenges.  The first one is CASual Friday #48 where we were to use opposite colours on the colour wheel for our Clean and Simple card.  I chose orange and green.   The second challenge is the Less Is More Challenge #63 - doodling.  Well, I love to doodle and I had seen Godelieve do some amazing doodled birds a while ago .. and the idea popped into my head to make an orange doodled bird.

And here is my card.  The picture didn't turn out so great, for some reason he is really shy and did not want to cooperate and take a nice photo.

The sentiment is from Jibber Jabber - The Alley Way Stamps and all the other images are hand drawn ... or doodled!!  FUN!!

Okay, off to see everyone else's doodles....

The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) and Less Is More - Sweet Friend

Hello everyone!  Today I have created a cute card.  I took the inspiration from 2 different challenges going on right now.  The first one is The Alley Way Stamps Be Inspired Challenge #3.   I mean look at this delicious photo and colours for inspiration.  And the second challenge is the Paper Pretties Wednesday challenge #201 - to use 2 or more different designer papers on your project.

Here is my card ... clearly inspired by the photo above.  I used 3 different sets to create the focal point.  Kitchen Gadgets for the scale, part of an image in Snow Much Fun for the container as well as a circle for the cherries, and finally the sentiment is from Jibber Jabber.

That was a whole lot of fun!!

Counterfeit Kit 1 - Noteworthy

Hello everyone.  Yes, my creative mojo is still missing (maybe it will return this weekend?)  However, I have found something crafty and fun to do in the meantime.

I have found this great blog called Counterfeit Kit Challenge.  The whole idea behind it is to create your own version of expensive embellishments and craft kits that you can buy online because we know that none of us really need more stuff!  I love the concept.

I decided to play with the April 2012 Inspiration Kit - Counterfeit Kit Challenge.  The beautiful kit is seen here and is from Kits de Somni (scroll down to half way through the newsletter).

Check out all the delicious colours.  Well, I looked around at my stash of stuff and decided I could replicate the kit into a mini card kit.  I started out by finding papers that fit with the ones in the kit -  along the back.  I started out with the plaid - the second from the right, and then found similar papers that matched the original kit from there (like the dots, floral, stripes, etc).  Then I proceeded to find or make items that would match those in the kit.

My kit is called - Noteworthy

I think, in the end, I did a pretty good job of replicating the kit.  Check out that blue die cut at the bottom right .. the one with the pointing finger.  Just like the kit only home-made.  And 2 of the flowers ... home-made.  I don't collect a lot of embellishment-like items so I had to improvise, found some in sticker or die sheets from paper packages, made some, or cut some from designer paper.

All in all, this was so much fun.  And now, I have this great kit to use!  How many cards do you think I could make with it???  or maybe a mini scrapbook??  I'll get at it and show you the results when I get something done.

Thanks for dropping in!!

Crafty Creations Challenge #165 - Flower Power

Hello and welcome to Crafty Creations Challenge #165 - Flower Power!  I love using flower images.  I decided to use Flower Garden (Papertrey Ink) and add a bit of sparkle ... okay maybe A LOT of sparkle!

I stamped the flower image on some clear cardstock and let it dry.  Then I coated the back with Orange Stickles (Ranger) and cut out the flower once it waws all dry.  It was so pretty that I didn't want it to compete with lots of other card elements so I went clean and simple... like usual :-)

Time to see what the other gals from Team 2 created using flowers....

Okay, now it is time for you to create a project using Flowers to win from Whiff of Joy.  Link it up over at the Crafty Creations Challenges ... and good luck!

Jet Lag is a Drag

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop by and let you know that I am experiencing a huge case of jet lag!!  I've never had it so bad before but these past few days I don't seem to be able to do anything!  And now I have to start back to work tomorrow morning! Yuck!

While I had hoped to get a few cards created, I have barely moved off the couch!  Hopefully I get moving to my craft room sooner than later.

In the meantime, here are a few cards I've seen in the few days that have caught my eye:

N@ (which I think is an abreviation for Nat - maybe short for Natalie??) knows how to use her scraps as she shows us HERE!

Jenny's peek a boo giraffe is adorable HERE

Godelieve makes cards or tags from scraps every Sunday as you can see HERE

PaperCrafts Magazine CASE - Lindsey's choice 2

Hello again!  Glad to see you back.  Today's card is choosen by Lindsey.  Check out that beauty.  I too almost picked it so was totally pumped to see that Lindsey had.  That ribbon behind the element is awesome!!  (see pg 26 by Vivian Masket)

So I kept to the overall layout, changing the colours and card theme.

This great flower is from a sticker sheet (BasicGrey).  The ribbon is Stampin' Up! and the sentiment is Papertrey Ink.

Okay, now off to see what Lindsey created with this awesome card.  I know she had a particular ribbon she was going to use on this card.

Hope you enjoyed this CASEing fun.

PaperCrafts Magazine CASE My Choice 2

Hello and welcome to Lindsey and my second week of CASEing cards from the March/April 2012 issue of PaperCrafts Magazine.

Today's pick is mine ... and I had to choose this awesome flag card by Teri Anderson.  You all know how much I adore these flags that are so "in" these days!  (see page 46).

I obviously kept all the flags, but adjusted the colours and added some additional embellishments.  I like how the broken sentiment worked out (by Hero Arts).

So there is my card, now off to see what Lindsey created as she CASEed this same card.  I can't wait to see myself!!

And don't forget to drop back tomorrow to see what card Lindsey picked this week ... and what we both did with it.....

Crafty Creations Challenge #164 - Flocked Pussywillows says Spring

Hello and welcome back to another Crafty Creations Challenge.  This week Digital Delights us sponsoring out challenge.  Our challenge #164 is to celebrate spring with some green/buds/blossoms/grass.  I opted to go with buds ... Pussywillows to be precise.  This image from smARTworks is my favourite to pull out at this time of year!

The pussywillows are 'flocked' with white ... they are soft and fuzzy in real life.  Unfortunately hard to tell in this photo.  I also used my new Distress Stain in Tumbled Glass (Ranger) for the background.

Now you need to go visit Crafty Creations Challenge Blog to see what all the others did for this challenge.  Then link up your own card or project for your chance to win!!

Clean and Simple Stitched Valentine

A few months ago I made a big Papertrey Ink order and in it was a set called Daily Designs.  This is such a great versatile set ... perfect for a beginner as it has lots of small images that could be used for all the holidays and occasions - spring, father's day, easter, baby, halloween, birthday, winter, and valentines day, plus some general images like leaves and birds.

For this card, I used this great stitched heart image in various PTI shades of pinks and red.

A little bit of pure poppy Itty Bitty Dots designer paper (Papertrey Ink) and voila!  A great Valentine!

Glad you could drop by my little corner of the www
