Moxie Fab Challenge - Cure For the Winter Blues

Just squeezing this Multi-Blue and white card in for Moxie Fab World's challege - Cure For the Winter Blues.

It features another one of my home-made stamps - 'Military Chevron' stamped in rows using various shades of blue.  The whole overall design was stolen borrowed from Jennifer McGuire's card shown in THIS POST.  I accented the whole thing with some white feathers, apaper flowers from American Crafts, a paper flower (from my stash) and a few half pearls scattered around.

I love working with feathers!

Thanks for dropping by,

Moxie Fab World - Fashion Challenge - Thinking of You Brooch

I wanted to play along with this challenge from Moxie Fab World ... but can you believe that I do not own any houndstooth paper or stamps!!  I looked thinking surely I have something ... but no I have nothing!  So I had to improvise.

I focused on the green (although a much yellow-er green than the color in the inspiration photo) and the brooch....

I added a pattern similar to houndstooth on my green designer paper using Versamark ink.  I kept the rest of the card clean and simple to focus on the embellishment and sentiment.  I stamped the bird image (Memory Box) and then cut out the paper to be just smaller than the frame.  Once the image was adhered, I filled the frame with Glossy Accents to mimic a brooch.

I adore that cream coloured lace below the sentiment strip ... found it at the Dollar Store for "a dollar!".

Okay, so that was a stretch for me .. but fun just the same!!
Thanks for dropping by.

Moxie Fab Challenge - Award Medallion

Cath always has some fun challenges going on over at Moxie Fab world.  Right now she is celebrating her 3rd year of posting!!  This card is created for the Award Medallions Challenge.

The black paper is glittery (but hard to see in the photo) and the black on the designer paper is nice and fuzzy creating all kinds of texture in real life!!   That is why I kept the card fairly clean and simple!

Thanks for looking

Trigger Tuesday - Blue Bird and Red Gingham

Anyone who drops by regularly will know that I LOVE red gingham!  So, when I saw the Trigger Tuesday inspiration picture from Moxie Fab World, I really wanted to play along.  Problem was ... when I looked, I didn't have a scrap of red gingham paper to use!   Can you believe it ... I couldn't!!!

So, I had to create my own, which I did using Papertrey Ink's Faux Ribbon stamp set and some ColorBox red ink!  And check out the background paper ... a perfect match to the photo.  It came from the Seaside 8x8 paper pack (October Afternoon).

The bird is a Magenta chipboard bird covered with somelight blue paper and sponged with Broken China and Walnut Stain Distress inks.  Sentiment if from Bird Watching (Papertrey Ink).

Off to check out what everyone else did with this spectacular inspiration photo.....

Moxie Fab Challenge - Card Play

Over at the Moxie Fab World Blog, Cath has encouraged us to create using playing cards.  Well, I didn't acutally use any playing cards but I did use these suit images that I picked up a few years ago from
Studio g ... it might be the only time I've ever used them.

I knew these papers would be perfect, they are from Cosmo Cricket called Circa 1934.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Hope you enjoyed this little bit of luck!!

Trigger Tuesday - Blue Flower

I almost never get to play with the Trigger Tuesday from Moxie Fab World ... but the stars and planets all aligned this week so .....
 ... this

..... generated this in my mind ....

That flower took a lot of coloring!  Sheesh!!  Clearly I loved that flower on the pillow.  Used the turquoise and pale yellow colors.

Thanks for dropping by!!

Moxie Fab Sketch 4

(note - this is my 4th post for today .. I've been busy! ... to see 3 other
Moxie Fab World sketch cards scroll down!)
And finally, the last of the Moxie Fab World sketches ...
And my card.....

I don't own any "big medallian - like" images so I decided to create a smaller card.  The flower is cut and put up on dimensionals.  The box around the card is hand drawn with a ruler.

Thanks for visiting.
Have a great sunshiny day (hopefully where you are!)

Moxie Fab Sketch 3

(note - this is my 3rd post for today ... to see 2 other Moxie Fab sketches, scroll down ...)
And here is another Moxie Fab World sketch ...

And my card ....

I love, love, love these embellishments from K&Co.  Anything with feathers makes me smile!!  And the 3 squares are made using a sticker (from Making Memories) placed on double sided adhesive and then the rest is coated with that awesome teal glitter!  More smiling!

Thanks for looking.

Moxie Fab Sketch 2

(note - this is my second post for today ... to see another Moxie Fab World sketch scroll down!)

And here is another sketch from Moxie Fab World ....

And my card ....

This one requires a few additional photos so you can see the gold leaf (on the leaves) and the gold embossing that has been impressed with stamp images ... so much fun to create!!

Look at all that golden shine!  This was fun .. the leaves are a 2-sided sticker sheet that I placed some gold leaf over to adhere.  It looks amazing!!  This is the first time I've had any luck using the gold leaf!   Then I coated a piece of scrap paper with gold embossing powder in many layers and, while still hot, pressed a few images into the liquid.  Then I cut them into the banner shapes and adhered.
Thanks for dropping by today!

Chevron Stripes

Cath over at Moxie Fab World is going on and on and on about the latest trend ... you've sure to have seen them ... chevron strips!!

Well, I had seen the challenge to make a card with them just before checking out Nichole Heady's blog and saw the card she created with that little thing strip of cardstock ... and I said to myself "I could do that for the chevron challenge".  And voila, a card is born!!

I chose a rainbow of colors and carefully used my pinking shears to cut tiny thin chevron strips.  Now, it may sound easy but let me tell you .. IT IS NOT!!  I definately got better as I went.

Stamps - Round and Round (anniversary set from Papertrey ink)

Thanks for dropping by and for sharing your comments about my work.  Off to see what other brilliant ideas were used for this challenge.

Back from Florida

Hi Everyone.

Sorry for my absence around here but my family and I were away to Florida for a sunny week of vacation!!  We had a wonderful time visiting some of the parks there.  I would highly recommend the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to anyone who loves all things Harry!  I was truely amazed at the attention to detail in this park!  It is simply beautiful!!  (however a caution note, it is also very crowded due to the interest!! but we loved it anyway).

So I return home and see that I was linked over on the Moxie Fab World site!  Are you kidding ... how exciting is it that Cath thought one of my cards was worth featuring on her site!  Wow, that is cool!

Well, I am home now and hoping to get back here doing the blog thing.  It might take me a few days to get back in the swing of things so please make sure you return to visit!!

Have a great day!

A Boy and His Dog - Paper Piecing

Good evening everyone.  I wanted to use some of the new stuff I bought and to participate in one of the Moxie Fab challenges that are going on right now.   I haven't done some paper piecing lately and I knew this October Afternoon stamp set called Kite Tales would work perfectly.  This little boy and his dog are adorable!!  Going through all the designer paper that I have gathered in an attempt to use some (for a change) I decided to us the Mellow 6x6 pad (BasicGrey).  I choose 4 of the patterns - stripes (for his shirt), brown solid (for his pants), green solid (for his speech bubble), and cloud page (for the background).  The sentiment is from Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)  See
that awesome grass ... it is a piece of Banana Leaf Festive paper by Creative Imaginations.  It is the coolest stuff ... soft and green and flexible!  I fringed it and then smooshed it all around the boy and dog's feet.

This was a FUN card to create.

Thanks for dropping in.  Off to see what others paper pieced for the challenge.

Stamping with Markers Challenge - Moxie Fab

Hi fellow card makers (and anyone else who enjoys visiting my little corner of the www!).  Today I am playing along with the Moxie Fab challenge of Stamping with Markers!   I decided to try something fun.

Are you wondering how I got these colors onto a piece of black cardstock?  It's easy, let me tell you how to do it!   First, adhere your black cardstock with non-permanent adhesive to your work surface. We do not want it moving around.  Then, using a stamp positioning system (I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig), stamp your solid image (this one is from smARTworks) onto the black cardstock using a white or vanilla ink (I used Vintage Cream by Papertrey Ink).  Make sure you leave the Stamp-a-ma-jig in the same place!!  You can stamp again with more of that ink color to make it bright!  I stamped my image twice.  Make sure you clean your stamp well at this point.  Next the fun part.  Using your markers, color directly onto your stamp, layering colors and laying on as much color as you can.  Then, spray a light mist of water over top of the inked up stamp.  Be careful here ...not too much and not too little water!  (You might need to experiment a bit with this before trying it on your black cardstock)  Then, simply stamp the colors on top of the white image (it will be easy because you have left the cardstock and Stamp-a-ma-jig in the same place.  You can keep coloring and stamping various times until the color is how you like it.  I colored, spritzed, and stamped the marker colors 3 times to get this vibrant color!!  I used 4 markers: Summer Sun, Garden Green, Cameo Coral, and Ruby Red (all Stampin' Up!).
What a great and different way to Stamp with Markers!!

To finish the card, I adhered a Vellum Sentiment Strip (the current Make It Monday challenge over on Nichole Heady's blog) with the sentiment (from Through the Trees, Papertrey Ink), sewed around a piece of designer paper (from Stella Rose 6x6, My Minds Eye), and popped up the focal image.  All of this was added to a white card base.  It is pretty Clean and Simple, one of my favorite styles these days!!

I can't wait to see what everyone else did with markers.  Hopping over to Moxie Fab to see.
Thanks for dropping in!

Moxie Fab World - Color Challenge using smARTworks stamps

Well, I certainly would not have ever picked these colors to go together, but then that is why I guess it is called a challenge, right!!?? This is the Moxie Fab World color challenge going on right now. It's a doozie for me!!
Part of the reason it took me so long to do the challenge is because I just couldn't think of anything to do with these colors. But then, I got those awesome butterflies in the mail from smARTworks and knew I had to play with them. Don't you love them?? You will probably be seeing them a lot because I love them!! They are from a set called Fun Stuff which has a ton of great fun images in it!!
Supplies: Stamps: Fun Stuff (smARTworks); Paper - Grey, white (Stampin' Up!); Ink - Summer Sunshine, Scarlet Jewel, Plum Pudding (Papertrey Ink); Basic Black; Other - dimensionals, scallop rectangle (Spellbinders), white gel pen (Signo), corner chomper (We R Memory).
I have to go see what everyone else did with this intersting color combo!!
Thanks for dropping in!!

Plum Crazy - Moxie Fab challenge

So you all know how bad I am at creating cards for challenges but then never getting them actually loaded up and posted to actually enter the challenge!! Well I'm trying to change all that!! Tonight I am loading up 2 posts, so that I can link to 2 challenges!! (hehehe, nope, this is one of 5 posts that I did tonight -- but then if you've gotten this far you've probably seen the 3 posts above this one. Keep scrolling, there is one more post after this one!!! ) This card is a Plum Crazy card created for the Plum Crazy card challenge over at Moxie Fab World. Obviously, we were to use the color of plum on our cards. I don't often use purples so I had to give this challenge a go.
I just received my Giga Guide Lines stamp set from Papertrey Ink and wanted to play!! I love these large images and this one looked like a frilly flower so I decided to stamp it in Plum Pudding and cut it out. I added it's mini match (from Guide Lines Two, also Papertrey Ink) stamped in Lavender Moon and adhered it on top with a dimensional. Then I added some Star Dust Stickles (Ranger) at spots to add some flowery shimmer!! I adhered my flower to a piece of Plum Pudding cardstock (Papertrey Ink) matted with Lavender Moon cardstock (Papertrey Ink) and adhered all this onto a white card base. I added the sentiment (from Damask Designs, also Papertrey Ink) using white embossing powder.
It turned out to be a real Clean and Simple card and certainly Plum Crazy!! I'm off to see all the other plumy offerings!!
