New Craft Room

Hello!

One of the things I did while on a break from crafting was to paint and reorganize my craft room.  I wanted it to be conducive to many crafts, not just card making.

My creativity flows so much better now due to less clutter!  And the colour is so soothing.

Here is my desk.  Bins of supplies close by.  Stamps on the shelf above and my Papertrey Ink stamps are against the wall.    My key items are in the organizer under the desk so I can pull it out when I am going to create.  If I want to work on other things, like painting or drawing, then they are not in my way.

On the other side of my desk sits my papers, inks, and embellishments.  See that little white basket on my desk, that is where I put items I want to use on a project in the near future.  For example, when I was making a page this week, I came across some great flowers one of my former secret sister's sent me (that's you Linda!) ... so I pulled them out and put them in there to use them soon.

See, I really don't need to purchase anything else but, rather, need to use up all this!!!  LOL!

Against the other wall is my brand new Epson printer!  And see that green wicker basket - that is for projects to do other than paper crafts, like mending, painting, etc.  Very helpful when I have a few minutes to look in there and see what I could get done.

I'd love to see your space too.  Leave me a link if you post about it on your blog.
Until next time,
Donelda

Happy 2013 and Welcome Back!

Hello out there crafters and welcome to a New Year here at Wiggy's World!

I am very excited to jump back into crafting and blogging.
For most of 2012, I took a break from both.  I needed to take some time out in order to simplify my life, reduce some added stress, and realign what is important to me.

Crafting is one of the things that is important to me.  But I have to do it in a way that makes sense and does not create an added stressor in my very busy life.  I've been busy thinking about what I want to do and how to do it. I am not sure I have it all figured out ... but I'm ready to start back in again.

One of the things I've decided to do is start scrapbooking again.  I will still make cards, but I need another creative outlet.  I have also started an art journal and will be sharing some of my work with that as well.

Finally, I have committed myself to not spend any more money on supplies (or a very minimal amount) and to use what I have.  That means I will not be creating with the most current lines or products.  It is my hope to use what I have to replicate some of those new embellishments, doodads, journalling tags and flowers.

So, if you are like me and don't have thousands of dollars to spend on supplies or you don't belong to all the coolest desgin teams in the world ...but still like to create.. maybe you can join me in my journey and we can inspire each other.

I think it is going to be FUN!!

Thanks for dropping by.  See you tomorrow.

Taking A Break

Hi everyone.

I am going to need to take a break from blogging for a little while.  Life seems to be crazy right now.  In true crazy fashion, we are also painting our son's bedroom and he has temporarily moved into my craft room.

I will be posting on Wednesdays only for my Crafty Creations Challenges.
Hopefully this mess will be over soon!  LOL!!

Thanks for understanding.

Counterfeit Kit 1 - Noteworthy

Hello everyone.  Yes, my creative mojo is still missing (maybe it will return this weekend?)  However, I have found something crafty and fun to do in the meantime.

I have found this great blog called Counterfeit Kit Challenge.  The whole idea behind it is to create your own version of expensive embellishments and craft kits that you can buy online because we know that none of us really need more stuff!  I love the concept.

I decided to play with the April 2012 Inspiration Kit - Counterfeit Kit Challenge.  The beautiful kit is seen here and is from Kits de Somni (scroll down to half way through the newsletter).

Check out all the delicious colours.  Well, I looked around at my stash of stuff and decided I could replicate the kit into a mini card kit.  I started out by finding papers that fit with the ones in the kit -  along the back.  I started out with the plaid - the second from the right, and then found similar papers that matched the original kit from there (like the dots, floral, stripes, etc).  Then I proceeded to find or make items that would match those in the kit.

My kit is called - Noteworthy

I think, in the end, I did a pretty good job of replicating the kit.  Check out that blue die cut at the bottom right .. the one with the pointing finger.  Just like the kit only home-made.  And 2 of the flowers ... home-made.  I don't collect a lot of embellishment-like items so I had to improvise, found some in sticker or die sheets from paper packages, made some, or cut some from designer paper.

All in all, this was so much fun.  And now, I have this great kit to use!  How many cards do you think I could make with it???  or maybe a mini scrapbook??  I'll get at it and show you the results when I get something done.

Thanks for dropping in!!

Jet Lag is a Drag

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop by and let you know that I am experiencing a huge case of jet lag!!  I've never had it so bad before but these past few days I don't seem to be able to do anything!  And now I have to start back to work tomorrow morning! Yuck!

While I had hoped to get a few cards created, I have barely moved off the couch!  Hopefully I get moving to my craft room sooner than later.

In the meantime, here are a few cards I've seen in the few days that have caught my eye:

N@ (which I think is an abreviation for Nat - maybe short for Natalie??) knows how to use her scraps as she shows us HERE!

Jenny's peek a boo giraffe is adorable HERE

Godelieve makes cards or tags from scraps every Sunday as you can see HERE

Liebster Blog award

A big thanks to Ardyth for nominating me for the Liwbster Blog Award.

The award is given to Bloggers with fewer than 200 followers, to help them gain new followers.  What a great idea!  And so kind of Ardyth for nominating me.  I will be passing on the Award to five other blogs soon!

Thanks again Ardyth!!

My Son Likes to Get Crafty

Yes, this is created by my 12 year old son.  He is really interested in Steampunk these days.  If you are unsure what steampunk is you should google it!  It is all gears and rivets and iron kind of things.

As you can see ... he definately captured the style he was going for.  Inside is a picture of a cymbal monkey with sock monkey arms that he generated with the computer and he made it look like an old postcard.  He is very creative!!  :-)

I've been working on some Moxie Fab challenges that I will be posting tomorrow!!
Thanks for dropping by.

Commenting

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to pop in to share something.  First of all, if you are a blogger then you know and understand how nice it is to receive comments on the creations you post.  I certainly feel that way!  When I first started this blogging thing, I used to race from blog to blog checking out the awesome creations by the owner but then move on without a thought of commenting.  But then I got the nicest comment on my own blog sharing some kind words about my work and I realized that I needed to be more generous with my thoughts about other crafter's work.  So I started to be selective about blogs and make an effort to leave comments.  And not just random "nice" comments, but comments that would let the crafter know and understand exactly why I liked their creation.

However, there seems to be a problem.  Lately, there are a few blogs that I am unable to leave comments on!   I am unsure why and having difficulty fixing the problem in a way that works for me.  The most frustrating thing is that there are 2 lovely ladies that are so sweet, visit my blog regularly, and give me the nicest comments and I cannot comment on their blogs.  Linda and Lindsey - I just want you to know that I always check your blogs but I cannont leave a comment on them!  I keep checking to see if the problem is solved but not so far.  I decided to post this so you both would know how much I appreciate your comments and let you know that I would leave comments on your blog if I could.

Yes, there are others who also leave me comments and I know are regular visitiors (I see you there Januita, Imke, Jessica, and some others) but I believe I can leave comments on your blogs.  I appreciate you guys too - don't get me wrong - I just want Linda and Lindsey to know that I would love to return the commenting favor if I could!!!

Thanks eveyone for visiting.  And I understand if you can't comment or just don't feel able to for whatever reason!!  I still appreciate your support!!  Please continue to visit in any way that works for you and enjoy whatever inspiration you might get from my blog!

I have some great posts coming from my "jam all the scrap I can into a 12 x 12 container and use only that to create cards" experiment.  Make sure you check back - you won't want to miss it all!!

Creativity at it's Finest

First of all Happy Canada Day!  I am so proud to be Canadian!!!

We are camping for a few days.  I had a pang of distress.  I have finally returned to crafting but now I'll be away for days ... no paper, no ink, no ribbon!!!  Yikes.  Then I got to thinking about reading posts where folks took a few supplies with them and created cards while on holidays.  Mmmmm., could I do that??

So, my plan is to take all of my scraps with me, a few card bases, and some other key supplies and see what I could create while camping.  Should be interesting.  Because we have very limited space, I decided to bring only what would fit in a 12 x 12 scrapbook storage box.  Here are some photos of what I took.
Some stamps - mostly background type of stamps and all PTI.

Some scraps and previously stamped images.  These items will likely be the focal parts of any cards I make.
Some background pieces of scrap, buttons, and a bunch of twine.

And finally, my PTI inks, various adhesives, a few markers, scissors and a small bag of ribbon.
This should be interesting and ... creativity at it's finest!!

Wish me luck!

Busy Time of Year

Hi all,

I have been very irregular with posts these days.   I want to share that June is a busy time of year for us.  My son is in soccer, on a travelling team and I am the manager this year so that takes a lot of our time.  As well, he continues to be in guitar, another night!  And, there is the end of school year events, baking and cooking for various things and potlucks going on at his school and my work, etc.  As well, my son just celebrated his 12th birthday so with that comes some shopping, baking, visiting, etc.  And my husband's birthday is next week ... so more of the same.

On a bit of a different note, I want to clarify that I have been visiting your blogs on occasion, however, for some reason I can't seem to leave comments these days.  I have tried ... over and over and over!!!  I get to a sign in page for blogger, add the required info, but then the comment won't post and it sends me back to the blogger log in page again!!  So frustrating!  So, just know that I have been popping onto your blogs and enjoying them but just unable to tell you how much!!!

All in all I guess I just want to clarify why I've been so absent from here.  I will be back in full swing again, promise, but it might be another couple of weeks until we get settled around here!!   In the meantime, I will try to post on occasion.

Thanks for understanding

Upcoming Project

I am back home, again, from a working trip.  It is nice to be home!!  I love my home!!

I am sure that many of you have seen t!m holtz's Configurations products.  Well, the other day at work I spotted this beauty sitting on top of my co-worker's filing cabinet.  When I inquired about it she said she was going to throw it out!  I snatched it up and plan to create something wonderful out of it!!

Guess you'll have to just wait and see!!

Have a great Day!!

Back from Florida

Hi Everyone.

Sorry for my absence around here but my family and I were away to Florida for a sunny week of vacation!!  We had a wonderful time visiting some of the parks there.  I would highly recommend the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to anyone who loves all things Harry!  I was truely amazed at the attention to detail in this park!  It is simply beautiful!!  (however a caution note, it is also very crowded due to the interest!! but we loved it anyway).

So I return home and see that I was linked over on the Moxie Fab World site!  Are you kidding ... how exciting is it that Cath thought one of my cards was worth featuring on her site!  Wow, that is cool!

Well, I am home now and hoping to get back here doing the blog thing.  It might take me a few days to get back in the swing of things so please make sure you return to visit!!

Have a great day!

New Toys!!

Hey Everyone!
I was a very bad girl this past weekend LOL!!  You see, I have been trying to not spend money on supplies since I have so many that I could craft for a century and not run out!  However, I went to my local scrapbook store yesterday ... specifically to pick up a new t!m holtz ruler (do not try to clean sticky glue off the back of this ruler .... the grid will come off ... don't ask how I know!).  And guess what ... they were out of rulers.  So, I just decided to browse a little .. and there were so many beautiful papers on sale ... and they just jumped into my basket (don't ask why I was holding a basket) .. and then some sale stamps jumped in to join them ... and a few other items jumped in too and they weren't even on sale ... sheesh!  I came home with a whole bunch of goodies!

I decided to share it all with you!   I have no idea how to edit or upload a video so I just decided to go with photos .... here you go if you are intested:

Starting out with some adorable Studio g samps.  They aren't the best quality but these 4 sets with small images really caught my eye.  They are adorable.  Remember you should be able to click on an image to see it larger -- then you can see how cute these images are!

A few images from Stampendous.  Before Christmas I had purchased another scene one from them because I adored the card Kim Crawford made.  I think this scene is different from the other one! LOL!

And as many of you know, I have a very limited supply of Copics!  So few that for some of my colors I can't really blend.  so, I decided to pick up a few light colors to go with my purple, pink, yellow, orange, and burnt sienna colors.  This was probably one of the reasons my bill was SO MUCH ... they babies are so expensive!!
Here is a cute image from The Stamp Barn, a new to me company.  I adore tulips and have big plans for this adorable image!!

And I can't pass up 50% off Hero Arts Stamps ... that's half price people!!  Can you believe it??!!  See that tulip in there...love it!!  And I had almost bought those lieelt animals before when they were full price .. so glad I didn't!!  Did I mention how much I love giraffes too ... see that adorable guy in there (that makes 3 giraffe stamps now ... probably enough ... right??!!)
I have plans to make something special for ds's awesome teacher with this stamp!! Been trying to find just the right image.

I actually picked these up at Toys R Us .. they are adorable gourmet lollipops. Inside each is  apretty image, like a flower or a bunch of grapes.  When I saw them I had a brilliant idea ... stay tuned to see what I do with them in the future!!

And I couldn't make myself go by the Spellbinders wall without throwing these into my bin (or should I say they jumped in!!).  I have always wished I had a longer skinnier die for longer sentiments and these will be perfect.  Not sure about you but I personally like the original dies they made ... the newer ones are just too ornate for me!!

And don't forget, I had been there in the first place to buy a t!m holtz ruler ... so when I was standing in front of that section, these products just jumped from the shelves!!  I've been dying to try the crackle paints (got white and rock candy) and I am sadly short of purple inks in my supplies so this dusty concord was a must ...right??!!
And one more stamp set came home with me...this adorable October Afternoon set called Kite Tales. I really liked the little boy and the puppy dog (I have only 1 dog image in my stash).  and besides this guy was 75% off ... what's a girl to do??!!

And now.... on to the beautiful, lushious papers .....
I think BasicGrey was brilliant to bring out a line of Basics!  And when I saw them in 6x6 pads I jumped up and down with a little bit of a scream.  I have been asking my LSS to bring in small pads (6x6 or 8x8) for a while now ... nice to see they listened.  So, how does one decide to get the Kraft, Manilla, or White ... one can't so she buys all three!!  LOL!!
And then there is teh Origins collection ... at 50% off the regular price .. just couldn't pass it up!  Again, lots of greens and browns and yellows ... perfect for masculine flavoured cards.
and they had the Curio Paper Pad which is very interesting.  There is a black frame around each sheet ... interesting.  I'm not sure if I like that or not ... I didn't notice it when I was at the store (you can imagine the flurry of action as these items were jumping into my basket as I tried to restrain them onto the shelves ... no wonder I didn't notice ...)
And I just had to get this Olivia pad of paper ... I had the Oliver pad in there for a moment but in a second of strength put it back and decided to stick with the one which I liked the most patterns.

This is a newly released product (released during CHA).  I don't often buy My Minds Eye paper but I saw it on Kristina Werner's blog and thoguht it would be fun to have.  Besides there is doily papers in each pack and they are so the rage right now!
And I am loving this Cosmo Cricket paper pack .. the colors are awesome, red, yellow, blue, and chocolate paired with a vanilla color!  They are all very vintage looking ... mmmmm, not my typical style.  Should make for some interesting projects!

And now on to a new growing passion ... October Afternoon ....

These must not sell well at my local LSS as I keep seeing them on sale so I keep picking them up ... and I am in love with the awesome images on the pages.  This first pad is Campfire:
 like these adorable trees....
and there are always some basic patterns like this red with white polka dots....
and these great bold bright stripes ....
and check this page out ... it totally reminded me of the Hundred Acres Wood from Winnie the Pooh.  I have lots of projects in mind for these papers!

And I also found the pad called Seaside ... perfect for this water loving family!!!
These bright, wide stripes are awesome ....
and some barn wall pattern ... and it is in red too....
and these great red and white stripes are to die for ...
Well, I hope I have not bored you to tears!   Now I'm off to do some creating with it all .... what fun!!
Have a great week!
