Alley Way Stamps - Zoom Zoom

A while back, I was so lucky to win the January release from Alley Way Stamps thanks to Barb's challenge!!  I adore all the cute stamps that I received and decided to pull them out and play a bit.

I love this cute little car so I did some paper piecing with it.  The zoom zoom is so perfect for us, we both own Mazda's!!  And the designer papers are from my friend Imke and is from the Boyfriend collection from Cosmo Cricket.  (thanks again Imke!)

I like the soft muted colours in all the elements so that the blue car stands out!

The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) Challenge #1 - In a Jam

Hi Everyone!  A number of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be a winner on Barb's blog and managed to snag all these babies .....

... the January release from The Alley Way Stamps - a new stamp company by Alison Spelman.

As I spent a bit of time browsing TAWS site, I saw that Alison was hosting the very first TAWS Challenge #1 with this great inspiration photo.   I decided I HAD to play along.

I decided to be inspired by 4 of the colours, the blue, rose, yellow, and kraft colours ....

These jam jars are adorable!!  I actually used 2 Alley Way stamp sets in the making of this card.  The jam jars and sentiment are from Kitchen Gadgets and the polka dot horizon was created using the dotty line from the Jibber Jabber set.

Okay, that was fun!  Going to play more with these stamps!!
Thanks for dropping by.

Crafty Creations Challenge #156 - Swirly Whirly Owl Greetings

This week I am playing along with my Crafty Creations Challenge friends.  This week Claire is sponsoring with some great Swirly Whirly images for us to use!!  So much fun!!

I paper pieced the owl using some Basics Kraft (BasicGrey) and used Copics on parts.  I also coloured and cut leaves out from a second image and layered them as well.  The branches and little hearts were coloured with Copics as well and I used Glossy Accents on the little hearts to make them shine!

Head over to the Crafty Creations Challenge blog to see what everyone else did with Clair's great images.

Inspired by ... Barb - Fun-gi

So my blogging buddy BARB is a fantastic card maker.  I am always so inspired by her creations!  I've collected some of her cards and she has said I can use them for inspiration here on my blog.  Here is the first card.  Check out that awesome banner!!

Can you believe this is the FIRST banner I've made!  It was so much fun!!  I printed off these colours (from an old Hero Arts colour challenge) and stamped various images on some of the banners (Guide Lines and Polka Dot Basics II - both Papertrey Ink).

Then I added this great 'shroom image and sentiment (from Unity Stamps).  I did some paper pieceing for the mushroom and added subtle dots on the top with my Versamark marker.

Fun, fun, fun!

I have some more inspiration cards from Barb that will show up on my blog over the course of the year.

Thanks for visiting my little piece of the www

Take 3 Challenge - Susan's Sketch - take 1

So, today's Take 3 Challenge for myself was to use a sketch!  I know, a bit different right!!??  And the sketch comes from the very talented Susan Raihala seen HERE.  I totally fell in love with it!!  It might look familiar since I used it on this card HERE as well!   I just can't stop using it!  Perfect for a take 3 challenge.

On this card, I used some more Paper Smooches free digital images.   The cupcake and the sentiment.  You can't see it in this photo but I've added Glossy Accents to the cherry (which is paper pierced) and the red hearts.  The paper is from BasicGrey ... oh how I love thee!!

So that is Take 1 using this sketch ... what might take 2 look like ... you'll have to come back tomorrow to see!!

A Boy and His Dog - Paper Piecing

Good evening everyone.  I wanted to use some of the new stuff I bought and to participate in one of the Moxie Fab challenges that are going on right now.   I haven't done some paper piecing lately and I knew this October Afternoon stamp set called Kite Tales would work perfectly.  This little boy and his dog are adorable!!  Going through all the designer paper that I have gathered in an attempt to use some (for a change) I decided to us the Mellow 6x6 pad (BasicGrey).  I choose 4 of the patterns - stripes (for his shirt), brown solid (for his pants), green solid (for his speech bubble), and cloud page (for the background).  The sentiment is from Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)  See
that awesome grass ... it is a piece of Banana Leaf Festive paper by Creative Imaginations.  It is the coolest stuff ... soft and green and flexible!  I fringed it and then smooshed it all around the boy and dog's feet.

This was a FUN card to create.

Thanks for dropping in.  Off to see what others paper pieced for the challenge.

Miss You Owls

There was a co-worker that was leaving and his team asked if I would make a going away card for him.  I instantly thought of Lucy Abram's card that used owls representing the whole group.  I only needed a team of 3 so I thought of using the Wise Owl set (Papertrey Ink).

I stamped the little owls on some pink and yellow designer paper and then the big owl on some blue paper.  I added some googlie eyes which make them look so cute!  Finally, I added some branches from Rustic Branches (Papertrey Ink) and some spots from Polka Dot Basics (Papertrey Ink).  The leaves are colored in with pencil crayons (Prismacolor).

Thanks for dropping by.

Flying By - Secret Sister supplies

This awesome balloon image is one I received from my Secret Sister in a swap I'm in over at SCS.  Isn't this the best image!!  I love that she was sweet enough to also stamp the image on some designer papers so that I could do some paper piecing .. how sweet and thoughtful she was!!

I kept the card pretty clean and simple.  I cut the balloon out using an oval nestabilities (Spellbinders) and sponged around the outside of the oval with some blue ink.  I then popped it onto this matching red strip of designer paper.  In order to make it match the balloon strips better, I stamped Fancy Flourishes (Papertrey Ink) onto it with Versamark ink.  Soft and subtle!!  I added the sentiment (from Bird Watching from Ppaertrey Ink -  my favorite sentiment in that set) onto the blue card base (it looks white in the photo - sorry!).

I can't wait to create even more great cards with all the other goodies my SS sent me!!

Until next post ....

smARTworks Howdy Dotty Girl

I made this card using smARTworks' set called Fun Stuff. I had seen some designer paper that had these large dots in these colors and I loved it so I decided to make my own. I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges. Next I used white acrylic paint to add smaller dots to the Aqua Mist cardstock and matted it on some Pure Poppy. The girl was stamped and her dress paper pieced using some Pure Poppy Bitty Dots paper. The trim was colored with some Aqua Mist ink and a paint brush. Stamp - Fun Stuff (smARTworks) all other products are Papertrey Ink except sewing machine and thread of course!! Thanks for dropping in. I'm heading to bed for some much needed sleep. Donelda

Corrosive Challenge #47 - Digital Hero Arts

The challenge this week on Corrosive Challenge Blog is to 'use digital images'. I am just starting to explore the world of digital so I am limited on my supplies but I have been gathering a few items.
On this card, the digital element is the pink polka dot paper. It is from Krystal Hartley and very yummy!!
I printed it off onto white cardstock and sewed around it with my sewing machine. Then, I stamped this butterfly (Hero Arts) onto the dotted paper and then again on 2 other sheets of designer paper scraps. I cut the bits and pieces of the butterfly out and glued it all back together again. I added the sentiment (Demask Designs - Papertrey Ink) and matted it on some matching blue paper. This was all on a white card base.
This card also qualifies for the Hero Arts challenge this month which is a theme - Friendship and Valentine. I think I'll send this little card to my mom for Valentine's day!!
I hope you are all enjoying my many posts for today!!

Christmas Card Reveal Countdown - Day 15

Here I am trying out a non-traditional color scheme again!! Pink and green are one of my favorites - even though I am not typically a pink girl!! When I made this card I had been trying to find a way to use the trees from the Made of Snow stamp set (Papertrey Ink) becuase I had not used them yet! For these, I stamped the tress onto a piece of green scrap paper that had a linen look to them. The ornaments are little pink seed beads (what a pain to glue those on!). The sentiment is from the Take a Bough set (Papertrey ink). Well, we are getting closer and closer to Christmas!! Where did the time go??!! Drop back in tomorrow for Day 16!! Donelda

Loonie Stamper's Challenge - #62 - Holiday Elf

So Jewels picked some great colors and requested a Christmas theme project or card. That is great becuase I am in the middle of creation tons of Christmas cards. I haven't shown you any because I am saving them up for the weeks leading up to Christmas.
So, these are great colors: Dark Chocolate, Aqua Mist and I picked White to go with it.
I decided to go a bit of a different route and printed off one of Dustin Pike's Freebies - this cute little elf. Then I did some paper piecing with Aqua Mist paper and colored his shoes and face with Copic markers. For the white edging on his had and sleeves I used some dimensional fabric paint. Then I was stuck as to what to do for his big moustache and eyebrows. In the end, I used a light grey Prismacolor marker and also outlined him with the same.
For the rest of hte card I added some Dark Chocolate Bitty Dots paper, a bit of Aqua Mist twill (I am loving the PTI twill as it cuts so clean!!) and a holiday sentiment (from Everyday Classics, PTI).
Check out the Loonie Girl's work:
How are you doing with your Christmas cards??
Thanks for dropping in this evening and for your comments, they mean a lot to me!!

CAS20 - Paper Piecing

This is the card I made for the CAS20 challenge over at SCS. It is to use paper piecing on your card.
I actually made 2 - one without ribbon and one with. I can't decide which I like better. I like the plain one for it's simplicity...but the ribbon seems to balance the whole card. Opinions always welcome!! The flower center is gold microbeads. It doesn't really show up very well in these terrible pictures (it is rainy and grey out today) but it gives the card a nice bit of pizzazz in real life.
Supplies: Stamps-Flower Garden (Papertrey Ink); Ink-Chocolate Chip (SU!); Paper- Select White, Sweet Blush Bitty Dots (Papertrey Ink); Other-Sweet Blush twill (Papertrey Ink) 1/8" hole punch, gold microbeads.
Thanks for dropping in!
