Bottle You Up (Scrapbooking)

I was so inspired by Glitter Girl's adventure #62.  She challenged us to create a page that mixes product from several collections or manufacturers.  So, I pulled out my papers.  I started with that increadible floral paper from Crate Paper and used the colours from that to find my other papers.  They included the yellow paper from Lawn Fawn, the dark pink from My Minds Eye, the blue and grey paper from Lilly Bee (which didn't make the final cut but was replaced by a blue paper from BasicGrey), and the light pink gingham (which I do not know the manufacturer since this sheet was sent to me from a friend).  I had also pulled some green vellum but didn't end up using it.

Next, I looked for some embellishments and pulled some from the new Lucky Charm collection (American Crafts).  I am pointing to one of the mason jars but ended up using the other yellow one wiht the heart in it.

Also used some of these cut apart journaling tags form Amy Tangerine's Yes Please collection.

I picked an assortment of letters and ended up using the light pink from BasicGrey and the small turquoise from Lilly Bee.

Here is my final page.  So much fun pulling it together.  And it was featured on the scrapbooking site: My Scrapbooking Art site that you can see HERE.  The post was about the mason jar trend ... guess this layout fits right in!

Here is a close up of the title and the cluster of embellishments.

Nana and Papa (scrapbooking)

Today's layout is very special.  It is a layout that includes pictures of my brother and his wife with their first grandchild.  It is so precious for me to see!  I really struggle to call him "papa" but having fun with it since he is quite a bit older than I am!

I am adding this layout to Glitter Girls challenge (at 2peas) to create a page using the things you are drawn to.  Well, any of you who know me know that I am totally addicted to beautiful designer paper.  I have so much of it!  Recently I purchased the new Yes, Please (Amy Tangerine for American Crafts), Lucky Charm (Dear Lizzy for American Crafts) and Maggie Holmes paper (by Crate Paper) paper packs and I am determined to use them and not hoard them like I usually do with my favourite papers.

So, here is a layout made with the first page from Yes, Please.  Look at all that colour!  Delish!!

Here is a close up of the butterflies - orange with a layer of vellum over top. And you can see the splatters of the orange twinkling H2Os that I added as well. More yum!

Thanks for dropping by!  Enjoy your day!

My Buddy (scrapbooking)

Hello!  I have a new scrapbook page to share with you today!

This page came together for a challenge from 2 peas.  Dear Lizzy challenged us to use a painted ombre technique.  If ombre is new to you, it means "dark to light" and is very popular right now in the scrapbooking world.  I love it!

For my ombre, I pulled out my twinkling H2Os.  Love them.  I used watercolour paper and cut it into 4 strips.  Painted the colours being sure to make them dark at one end and light at the other.  This became the bottom portion of my layout.

Then I added my 3 black and white photos (isn't he the cutest!) and a whole bunch of black and white embellishments!  I really like that swirly flourish at the bottome - it is from the For the Record sticker sheet (Lilly Bee).

Why don't you give ombre a try?!  Either use one of the many products already out there with this effect (papers, stickers, tags, brads, etc.)... or create your own like I did!  If you do, I'd love to see it!  Leave me a link.

Downhill Tubing Fun (Scrapbooking)

Welcome back!  Here is another layout created based on Shimelle's Sketch 6

It was a perfect sketch for this event where I had a number of photos I wanted to include.

Remember how I am trying to not spend money but use what I have.  Well, I am always so tempted to purchase all the great labels that different companies sell.  But I don't and instead, I created my own labels that you see here using my circle and rectangle stamps from Papertrey Ink.

This was a lot of fun to create!
Thanks for visiting my small piece of the www

Chocolate Chips & Bacon (Scrapbooking)

Hello.  Using another one of Shimelle's sketches (sketch 5) as a starting poing in my scrapping.  This one was quite difficult for me and has taken me a while to finish.

As you can see, I stayed very true to the sketch.  I used this Basic Grey paper and because it is so busy (the browns) I decided to keep the rest fairly clean and simple.

The layout started with me making this ampersand. I love it!

I also have another layout ready to post and will do that next.
Have a great sunday fully of scrappy goodness!!

She Loves You (scrapbooking)

Hello and if you are returning, welcome back!

Today's layout is made for a challenge at 2peas - to use Christmas products on a non-Christmas page.  This was rather easy for me since I only own 1 Chrismas paper collection (Holly Jolly from My Minds Eye - a few years old) and had already pulled out the papers that could be used for everyday crafting!

So, this layout uses all papers and tags from the Christmas line.  I added in buttons from my stash, letter stickers (My Little Shoe Box) and rub on letters (American Crafts).  Also, I want to use my stamps as much as possible on my layouts so I pulled out Flourished (Papertrey Ink) and stamped it using Walnut Stain ink (Ranger).

A close up of the title.  You can also see where I sprinkled some Mister Huey's color mist (Dark Calico - Studio Calico) around the stamped images.

So that was a real fun challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.

Moxie Fab Challenge - Cure For the Winter Blues

Just squeezing this Multi-Blue and white card in for Moxie Fab World's challege - Cure For the Winter Blues.

It features another one of my home-made stamps - 'Military Chevron' stamped in rows using various shades of blue.  The whole overall design was stolen borrowed from Jennifer McGuire's card shown in THIS POST.  I accented the whole thing with some white feathers, apaper flowers from American Crafts, a paper flower (from my stash) and a few half pearls scattered around.

I love working with feathers!

Thanks for dropping by,

Home-made Rubber Stamps #4 - Even More Chevron

Okay, one last Chevron card for this week.  This time, I am showcasing my "Striped Chevron" stamp.  This stamp is a chevron shape that has 3 of the thin strips.  When stamped repeatedly, it makes this great long strip of colour!

I have to admit this is my favourite of all the cards I've made so far using my chevron stamps!

The big paper flower is one I won from a blog and it is from American Crafts.  I altered it a bit, took off the brown button in the middle, added a black stamped medallion (Mehndi Madallion - PTI) in black on Ruby Red cardstock punched, and a black PTI button on top.  The sentiment is from Half & Half (PTI).

Let me tell you .. making stamps is so much fun!!  I have lots more to share with you.  Make sure you check back soon.

Kites into Flowers

Here is a good example of why my "scrap bin" gets so full.  These are kites.  Yup, paper pieces from some of my yummy scrap papers.  But here is the problem.  Instead of just making one ... I sat down one night and made about 15 of them.  Not sure why I do it ..I guess I just can't decide what colors I like best.  So, when I got done I thought to myself ... now what am I going to do with them all??  And at one point, I realized that if you put them in a circle, they kinda looked like a flower.

So, at least I've used up 6 of them.  The rest will appear on cards over time ...

LOL!

Wishing You Sunshine

I haven't seen sun since leaving Florida almost a week ago!!   It has been too cloudy and windy here!!  So, I finished up this card that I have been slowly working on.  It is almost a direct copy of THIS CARD that Katrina Werner did a few weeks ago.  I loved it and knew I had to give it a try!

Stamp sets: Laughter (American Crafts), Scattered Showers (Papertrey Ink)

I hope this brings a little sunshine to both me and you!!

Have a great weekend!!

Blue Bird Wish

The images on this card are from the Laughter set by American Crafts.  Such cute little animal images.   The sentiment is from Wishing You... (Papertrey Ink) and the background leaves are from the ever popular Turning a New Leaf (Papertrey Ink).  See the little strip of scalloped polkadots - such a fun addition to the card.  That paper is Papertrey Ink's Distressed Dots paper except I haven't acutally bought any yet but PTI lets you "try before you buy".  If you go to their store, click on patterend paper, then any paper and go to the bottom, there is a spot that will let you download some small samples of the actual paper.  I LOVE that PTI does this!!!  Another reason they are one of my favorite companies!!

Thanks for dropping in today.

Thinking of You - Deer Scene

Another scene card this time created using the adorable set called Laughter (American Crafts).  The animals in the set are adorable.  And see that sun and cloud, they are also a stamp in the set which lends to creating cute little scenes like this one.

The frame that is around the scene (which is a greenish-yellow color in real life!) was an item from my scrap bin ... something that I was going to use on another card and decided not to at the time.  I think it looks great here around little Bambi. It is up on dimensionals! The sentiment is from Beyond Basic Borders (Papertrey Ink).  I created the grass by flicking color on the bottom with a Copic marker (YG95).

This card could be used for many occasions - love creating cards like that!!

Have a great day today!!

Deer Wishes

I was in a swap a few months ago and my Secret Sister Banu sent me this aweosme  paper!  Is it not the best colors ever?  I certainly think so.  I wanted to make a card to hightlight those yummy colored stripes.

Pretty clean and simple, hey!!

Stamps: deer is from Friends (American Crafts), sentiment is from Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink).

Have a wonderful day!

Clean and Simple Friends

I adore these cute little animal stamps from the American Crafts set Laughter.  They are just so sweet.  So I decided to do a real Clean and Simple card to highlight them.

I've had this strip of blue cardstock with the holes punched in it for a long time in my scrap bin.  The circles were the perfect size for my 3 friends.

Originally, the blue rectangle was plain, however, when I photographed it I realized that it would look best with some faux stitiching around it.  What do you think?  It is really pretty clean and simple!

I am glad you dropped in to visit my little piece of the web.  Enjoy your day!

Using Scraps 7 - Hello You Deer

So I created a second card based on Kim Kesti's sketch shown on page 22 of the Sept/Oct issue of Paper Crafts magazine.  And continued to use up pieces of scrap.    This time I used one of my new stamps from American Crafts.  Isn't that deer the sweetest!!   and this time I did make the card square (yesterday's card used the same sketch but it was a typcial A2 size).
See that light brown circle, it is cardstock that has woodgrain already embossed into it.  However, the store where I bought it did not have the manufacturer identified so I just know that it is super cool!!

Well, there you have it!  7 cards all using nothing but scraps and all inspired by the September/October Paper Crafts magazine.  taht was lots of fun!!  I'll have to try it again soon!

Have a great weekend!

One Layer Wednesday (OLW) Trio - catching up on past challenges

Okay, so I seem to have been missing my mojo these last few weeks.  I've gone for that long without setting foot into my craft room.  Part of me thinks it might have been because it was a bit on the messy side.  Something about that makes me "freeze" and I just can't seem to (a) clean it up or (b) stamp while it is messy.  You see, I am one of those card makers who need to clean up after each creation.  If I don't it totally inhibits my creativity!!  Weird, I know!!

Anyway, I have missed out on some great One Layer Wednesday challenges by Susan R. over at Simplicity.  So tonight I decided to catch up!!

OLW #18 - Trees
I love love love this tree image from Papertrey Ink!!  I know it will be a timeless stamp and can be used for many purposes!  I drew the brown line around the card.  I love this effect, makes the card feel finished for me!!

Supplies: Through the Trees (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Chocolate Chip, Old Olive (Stampin' Up!)

OLW #19 - Black and White and a splash of Color

This is a brand new stamp set for me!  I've wanted it forever but stamps are so expensive and I really do have .. enough stamps (yes, I do think one can have enough stamps ... but it doens't necessarily stop me from buying more).  I found this set for 25% off at my LSS so grabbed it and ran to the till before I could change my mind!!  Ha!!!

Supplies: Stamps - Bitty Grunge (Stampers Anonymous - t!m holtz), Vintage Picnic - sentiment (Papertrey Ink), Ink - Black (duh!) and Ruby Red (Stampin' Up!)

OLW #20 - 3 images and 1 sentiment

This is another new stamp set for me that I picked up on sale at my LSS.  I don't own anything else from American Crafts but when $10.00 I had to have it.  Arn't these little critters adorable??!!  I can't wait to use some of the other lovely images in the set.  Also this card is actually a pale pink with Chocolate Chip stamping .. don't adjust your monitors!!

Supplies: Stamps - Laughter (American Crafts), Around and About sentiment (Papertrey Ink).

There, now I'm all caught up on the One Layer Challenges.  Ready for this coming week.  Let's hope I keep my mojo!!

Thanks for dropping in!  Have a great day!
