Using the Principal of Unequal Spacing

Here is a good example of the difference between a card that does not use the principal of unequal spacing and one that does. (See my previous post for an explaination of this principal). The card on right is all pretty much centered. Although it looks okay (I do kinda like it), the card below incorporates the principal of unequal spacing and I think it is more pleasing to the eye. I've really been into making more simplistic cards these days!! It will probably change since I continue to try to find what style I like best-- one day I am making simple and plain cards and the next day I am making cards with multiple layers! Sheesh!! Anyway, this card (the one on the left) was originally posted for the Ways to Use It challenge 147 - where Jacksonbelle (who was filling in for Julia) asked us to USE FLOWERS!! Supplies: Cardstock-Close to Cocoa (SU), Very Vanilla (SU), Designer Paper (unknown); Ink-Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip (SU); Stamps-Borders & Corners {Oval}, Faux Ribbon (Papertrey); Accessories- Flowers (Prima), antique brad (SU), oval coluzzle. Thanks for visiting.

I agree the 2nd one looks more pleasing to the eye but like you I also like the first one aswell. Thanks for the first class look forward to the next one :)

These are both really nice cards, but I think the uneven-ness of the second one leaves more room for bg stamping!!!! Oh yeah. I love the look, but I always need to add more. I have a hard time doing a simple card. *shrug* Thanks for the classes though, Wiggy! These are fun and insightful.

Great illustration! That really clears up the lesson for me. While the first card is okay, I think the 2nd card looks much better/professional. I think I try to make things too symetrical overall, and the result is that my cards can look like a beginner's. This has been a great lesson for this newbie! Thanks and I look forward to the next one.

LOVE the flowers and I agree...the unevenly spaced one IS more pleasing to the eye. Thanks so much for showing us the difference!

I agree, the first one looks great but side by side the second does just have the edge!

Thanks for sharing what you are learning. I really like that you show the two versions. The first ones look all right, but it certainly livens them when you do the different arrangement.
