Bottle You Up (Scrapbooking)

I was so inspired by Glitter Girl's adventure #62.  She challenged us to create a page that mixes product from several collections or manufacturers.  So, I pulled out my papers.  I started with that increadible floral paper from Crate Paper and used the colours from that to find my other papers.  They included the yellow paper from Lawn Fawn, the dark pink from My Minds Eye, the blue and grey paper from Lilly Bee (which didn't make the final cut but was replaced by a blue paper from BasicGrey), and the light pink gingham (which I do not know the manufacturer since this sheet was sent to me from a friend).  I had also pulled some green vellum but didn't end up using it.

Next, I looked for some embellishments and pulled some from the new Lucky Charm collection (American Crafts).  I am pointing to one of the mason jars but ended up using the other yellow one wiht the heart in it.

Also used some of these cut apart journaling tags form Amy Tangerine's Yes Please collection.

I picked an assortment of letters and ended up using the light pink from BasicGrey and the small turquoise from Lilly Bee.

Here is my final page.  So much fun pulling it together.  And it was featured on the scrapbooking site: My Scrapbooking Art site that you can see HERE.  The post was about the mason jar trend ... guess this layout fits right in!

Here is a close up of the title and the cluster of embellishments.

Thanks for dropping by for a visit.

Chocolate Chips & Bacon (Scrapbooking)

Hello.  Using another one of Shimelle's sketches (sketch 5) as a starting poing in my scrapping.  This one was quite difficult for me and has taken me a while to finish.

As you can see, I stayed very true to the sketch.  I used this Basic Grey paper and because it is so busy (the browns) I decided to keep the rest fairly clean and simple.

The layout started with me making this ampersand. I love it!

I also have another layout ready to post and will do that next.
Have a great sunday fully of scrappy goodness!!

Scrapbooking Starting Point with Shimelle - You Rock (Scrapbooking)

I am a huge Shimelle fan (and a Glitter Girl fan too!).  I visit Shimelle's blog often and was excited to see she had a challenge up called Scrapbooking Starting Point.  She started with this basic layout and added her own photos, title, and embellishments.  She wanted us to start at this point in the process, forget what she did and just do our own thing!  Awesome idea!!

I had to give myself a few days break to actually forget what Shimelle did (or try to forget) so that I wouldn't just copy her overall finished result.

In the end, I scrapped these photos of my son playing his guitar when we were camping.  I chose bright colours for my patterened papers (all BasicGrey)!  The arrow-like stamp ... that is one I created myself!

While Shimelle always uses stickers for her title, I decided to go with stamps and used jibber jabber from Alley Way Stamps (stamped with Walnut Stain ink by Ranger).  I also used the ticket stamp from the Miss Caroline set by My Minds Eye (with Fired Brick ink by Ranger).  And see that brown circle with the embellishments - it is actually a postage circle stamp from French Country Postage by gel-a-tins.  I like it alot because it is not a perfect circle but has imperfectios.

To finish the layout, I added a few blue heart brads to my 3 embellishment spots as well as a few green brads at the top right and bottom left corners.  I spattered on some Mr. Huey's Dark Calico color mist (that is becomming a favourite of mine!) and drew some brown lines around the edge of the cardstock to finish off the page.

So, if you are interested in scrapbooking and want some inspiration, you MUST visit Shimelle's blog! (and go see Glitter Girl at 2peas as well!!)

Thanks for dropping by.

Still My Crazy Kid (scrapbooking)

Hi all!

I was able to make another page for one of the challenges going on over at 2 peas.  This time the challenge was to use a 4 word title.  That made it easy. I wanted to scrapbook about my son who is growing up ... but yet still just my good old crazy kid whom I love so much!

I used some of my new products I ordered from 2peas.  I know, I said I wasn't going to buy new stuff but use the stuff I have... but what I've discovered is that the products I had for cardmaking don't necessarily work well for scrapbooking.  So, I HAD to buy some basics!!

Supplies: Papers - Fourteen collection from Crate Paper, Basic White from BasicGrey, black polka dot paper is Making Memories; Stamps - Lovestuck by Amy Tangerine;  Punches - all but little heart from Martha Stewart; Tag from gloves we bought our son for Christmas (I love to recycle!).

I am really enjoying getting back into scrapbooking again!  I have another page made as well which I will load up soon!

I have some requests for cards as well so I will be blogging them soon.

Thanks for dropping by.

Your Room (scrapbooking)

Hello.

If you are unaware ... Winter CHA is happening this weekend.  What that means is new supplies coming to an LSS near you.  But not for me (or at least I am going to try to withstand the temptation).
What it also means is 2Peas is running online challenges where you can win if you upload layouts or cards based on the challenge.  I get if I win ... so I'll be entering!!

For today, I wanted to scrap by sons room as it is now that he is 13.  A long time ago, I scrapped his room when he was just little.  While some things are the same, there is a lot that is different as well.  I think it will be cool for him when he is older to look back and see what was in his room.

The 2peas Challenge I am entering this layout into is the Select 7 Diffrent Patterns challenge.  That is right ... use 7 different patterns on your layout. I can hardly believe it but I did.  All come from the Lime Rickey Collection (BasicGrey).  That made it a bit easier.

Here is a close up of the title.  Large letters are also from the Lime Rickey collection (BasicGrey) but the little letters are black on clear squares from Recollections (sold at Michaels).

I also used a rub-on (the All Mine circle at the top left corner of the verticle photo) and it is from Sampin' Up!

I must say, I am enjoying the creative outlet of scrapbooking again!  I am trying to be brave and just cut into all my beautiful paper .. to use it up.  I have an agreement with myself .. if I use it all, I can buy new stuff again.  No better way to motivate myself!!

Hope over to 2peas and see what is going down at Winter CHA.  If you want to see video's showing some of the new products you can check it out HERE.

Thanks for dropping by.

Be Positive (scrapbooking)

Hello.

Today I have a scrapbook page to share.  It is about me.  This would be the first time I've ever scrapbooked about me.  I was inspired by a challenge at 2peas - the new In the Mood to Scrap for Jan 1, 2013 where Wilna wanted us to use the mood board she created as inspiration as well as pick a word that means something to us.

If you check out the mood board, you will see that I used the quote "creativity takes courage" as it really spoke to me.  I also used the same colour for my 'word' - which was cut the old fashioned way (printed in reverse on paper and cut with a craft knife).

Here is a close up of the bottom corner of the page.  I like the little pops of pink and red in the tiny flowers on the punched circles of designer paper.

And I like the stitiching on some of the elements which gives it a home-made feel.

Supplies used:  Paper - Deck the Halls from Holly Jolly collection (My Mind's Eye) - Yup ... Christmas paper used on a non-Christmas page  - it is the lovely brown tone on tone damask background paper and oh so beautiful!!, Blush collection (BasicGrey) - that's the turquoise, Sunshine collection (My Mind's Eye) - the pattern used for the hexigons, Market (My Mind's Eye) the cute little flower pattern from those little circles and the back of that is the ledger paper that the word 'Simplify' is stamped onto, Basics White (BasicGrey) - the paper I printed the quote onto and the date tag; Ink - Walnut Stain (Ranger); Other - 1" and 1/2" circle punches (Stampin' Up!), hexigon shapes were traced from the negative cardboard from punching out game pieces from one of my son's games  ... I knew it would come in handy!!, sewing maching, brown pearls from my stash.

Sorry about the poor quality photography.  I continue to struggle with lighting in my craft room. Might have to splurge on a better lamp.

So, are you courageous enough to scrapbook about yourself??!!  Go for it.

Thanks for dropping by for a visit.

PaperCrafts Magazine CASE My Choice 2

Hello and welcome to Lindsey and my second week of CASEing cards from the March/April 2012 issue of PaperCrafts Magazine.

Today's pick is mine ... and I had to choose this awesome flag card by Teri Anderson.  You all know how much I adore these flags that are so "in" these days!  (see page 46).

I obviously kept all the flags, but adjusted the colours and added some additional embellishments.  I like how the broken sentiment worked out (by Hero Arts).

So there is my card, now off to see what Lindsey created as she CASEed this same card.  I can't wait to see myself!!

And don't forget to drop back tomorrow to see what card Lindsey picked this week ... and what we both did with it.....

Crafty Creations Challenge #164 - Flocked Pussywillows says Spring

Hello and welcome back to another Crafty Creations Challenge.  This week Digital Delights us sponsoring out challenge.  Our challenge #164 is to celebrate spring with some green/buds/blossoms/grass.  I opted to go with buds ... Pussywillows to be precise.  This image from smARTworks is my favourite to pull out at this time of year!

The pussywillows are 'flocked' with white ... they are soft and fuzzy in real life.  Unfortunately hard to tell in this photo.  I also used my new Distress Stain in Tumbled Glass (Ranger) for the background.

Now you need to go visit Crafty Creations Challenge Blog to see what all the others did for this challenge.  Then link up your own card or project for your chance to win!!

I focused on the general layout....

These apple stickers are from the Picadilly paper pack (BasicGrey), which I ADORE!!!  Very little stamping, just the lovely sentiment (from Autumn Abundance, Papertrey Ink).

Now you need to head over to Lindsey's blog to see what she did with this inspiration card.
And, don't forget to drop back in tomorrow for my CASE choice.

Crafty Creations Challenges #162 - Photo Inspiration - Happy Birthday Princess

Hello everyone.  This week's Crafty Creations Challenge #162 is Group 1's challenge but when I saw this lovely inspiration photo I just had to give it a go!!

I focused on the pink pattern with the little flowers, the banner in the background, and the gold crown.  Here is what I ended up with!

Very different from my typical style ...

A fun collage of items - embossed crown (French Country Postage - Gel a tins), hand-made rolled flower, little heart button!!

and this is only my 2nd time making a banner!

Now you need to go see what everyone else did with this great inspiration photo - go to Crafty Creations Challenges.  And then once you are inspired, give it a go to win from In 2 Stamps

Thank You ... Imke!

This card was created for 2 reasons ....
1) to use up these great letters that Imke sent me ... she is such a thoughtful friend (thanks Imke!!)
and 2) to use that increadible BasicGrey wooden button ... see it on the left?!  Amazing!!

I found this great paper at my local Dollar Store.  It is really neat.  Very soft, almost like cloth.
I can hardly believe I actually used one of those buttons  and didn't hoard the whole package ... just 5 more left .... what will I do with them??

Thanks for dropping by.

I Love Picadilly Paper

I am in LOVE!

Yup, true, head-over-heels in love!  I opened my 12x12 package of Picadilly Paper Collection from BasicGrey .... oh my!!! Have you seen all the lovely papers in there??!!  It makes me want to run out and buy a second package to keep so I can use this package ... how bad is that?

So when I saw this wonderful inspiration photo from Jay Gee's Nook - Challenge #16, I knew what to do!

Ahhhhhh, simply beautiful with minimal work on my part .. the papers did all the work!!
And since I used such lovley papers, I'm also entering this into the Pattern Paper Challenge over on Lily Pad Cards blog.

The sentiment is from Half & Half (Papertrey Ink), the yellow crochet thread was actually white that I dyed yellow to fit the theme, and a black button (PTI) to finish the whole thing off!  I hand cut the panel that the sentiment is on and drew the black line around it free hand.

Okay, off to create many, many more cards with these beautiful papers ... LOVE I tell ya!!

CASual Friday #39 - Paper Pieced Jungle Birthday

This week's challenge #39 over at CAS-ual Fridays ... paper piecing.

I stamped out a bunch of gingham and polka dotted paper (Bitty Background Blocks by Papertrey Ink).  Then I stamped these cute critters in the appropriate colours (Playful Animals - by Hero Arts).  Paper pieced it all together onto a piece of white background paper (BasicGrey).

So cute!

Glimmer Mist - Here for You

I am loving all the creations being made using misting sprays.  I pulled out this great blue from Tattered Angels.  Sprayed some big splotches onto some BasicGrey paper (Basics White) which is a must have! Stamped the mug from Warm Happiness (Papertrey Ink) and cut it out.  A bit of layering made a great focal image.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Fall Thinking of You

I thought I'd better squeeze this fall card in before it gets too wintery ...

Some days I just can't get enough of those yummy Distress Inks (Ranger).  And look, I have used another one of my home-made Half and Half dies (like Papertrey Ink but just cardboard and traced by hand!).

These warm fall colors are my favourite to create with!!

Hope you are having a wonderful day.  Thanks for dropping by.

Take 3 Challenge - Pointsettia Flower - Take 3

Before I get to my Take 3 card, I am excited to announce that I made it onto the Crafty Creations Challege blog Design Team!  So excited to be on another team.  Can't wait to get going with them.  Drop over to the blog and check out this week's inspiration photo, it's awesome!!

Finally, the last day of this Take 3 Challenge ... and here is my Take 3 on using this lovely flower stamp from Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms set.  Notice it is not a Christmas card!

These flowers were inked up with distress inks and cut out.  Check out the centers ... they are lovely brads that I have received from one of my secret sisters (thanks so much)!!

This card is actually created based on the card created by Julia Stainton shown on page 48 of the Nov./Dec. issue of Paper Crafts magazine.  It was so lovely I was totally inspired by it!  Julia's card is a Christmas card with stars on it, but I wanted to change that into a birthday card so used flowers.

Thanks so much for dropping by for my Take 3 Challenge this week.

Play Date Cafe #108 - Rich and Warm Colours

The Play Date Cafe colours for challenge #108 were so delicions that I wanted to play along.  However, they were so much fun, I couldn't stop.  I ended up making 2 different cards and then using my scraps to create a third card!

This fist card was clean and simple.  I'm really digging the graphic look these days

I knew the 3 colours would make a great background for a silouette stamp so I used this old Stampin' Up! image on a sponged background.  I kep the rest of the card cas ... and couldn't bring myeself to stamp a sentiment on the front so it went inside.

And then, I just couldn't bring myself to throw out the beautiful scraps.  I saw them all sitting there on my craft table and figured I could add them together for a mosaic look .....

... and here is a close-up.

You might recognize the sketch from CPS ... but too late to add it to the challenge.

That was fun!!
Thanks for dropping by.

Casing Paper Crafts Cards

One of my blogging friends, Lindsey, mentioned that she had the same Paper Crafts Magazine (Sept/Oct) so I asked her if she wanted to have some fun.  We would each pick a card from the magazine, both use it as inspiration, and post our creations on our blogs!  This was a blast!!

Today we are showcasing Lindsey's choice.  She picked an increadible card by Katie Gehring called Autumn Button Tree Card (seen on page 52).  It is so rustic and full of yummy fall colours.

I focused on the layout, the polka dot ribbon, and the tree as the focal image.  Here is my card:

Now you must go see what Lindsey did using this same card for inspiration!!  And if you feel l'ike being inspired by Katie Gehring (or mine/Lindsey's cards) feel free to give us a link in the comment section so we can come take a peek!!

And make sure you drop back tomorrow to see what card I picked from the same magazine and what we create with that inspiration!!

BasicGrey Challenge - Chevron Stripes and Young Crafters Unite - Masculine

The Young Crafters Unite challenge is masculine - a style I like to try to do as often as possible because it is a challenge.  As well, the challenge on right now at Basicgrey is to use Chevron Stripes

I decided to mix these two challenges together.  Here is my card:

I created the chevron from using Prehistoric paper from Archaic collection (BasicGrey) .... a very old collection that I have saved for a loooong time for just the right time which was this one.

Thanks for dropping in!  Hope you enjoy.
