Casing Paper Crafts Cards

One of my blogging friends, Lindsey, mentioned that she had the same Paper Crafts Magazine (Sept/Oct) so I asked her if she wanted to have some fun.  We would each pick a card from the magazine, both use it as inspiration, and post our creations on our blogs!  This was a blast!!

Today we are showcasing Lindsey's choice.  She picked an increadible card by Katie Gehring called Autumn Button Tree Card (seen on page 52).  It is so rustic and full of yummy fall colours.

I focused on the layout, the polka dot ribbon, and the tree as the focal image.  Here is my card:

Now you must go see what Lindsey did using this same card for inspiration!!  And if you feel l'ike being inspired by Katie Gehring (or mine/Lindsey's cards) feel free to give us a link in the comment section so we can come take a peek!!

And make sure you drop back tomorrow to see what card I picked from the same magazine and what we create with that inspiration!!

Take 3 - Week of August 8 - take 3

Okay, well today is the last day of this Take 3 challenge with the take 3 card.  And I've got to say, I love the end result of this card!!!

The card started out with sponging on the bright colors.  Then I added the text by inking up the stamp and then randomly taking some of the ink off with a rag and then using uneven pressure when acutally stamping.  I loved how it turned out.  Then, I added some grungy dots using gesso and some bubble wrap.  After the background was finished, I added my Maya Road butterflies and sentiment.  Those black butterflies stand out so much on that bright and colorful background!!

Well, that is it for another Take 3 challenge.  I hope you have enjoyed this week's set of cards.

Take 3 - Week of August 8 - take 2

Welcome back everyone.  I bet you are dying to see what I did with those Maya Road black butterflies for Take 2.  This time I decided to make some use of the smaller sized butterflies in the rub-on package.  With the help of some Bitty Dot paper (Papertrey Ink), a colorful card emerged ...

This card will be perfect to grap and send to a freind!!

Now, I have to say that the 3rd card I made for this Take 3 challenge is my very favorite!!  If you love color that you are going to love the Take 3 card as well.  Make sure you drop back in to see it for yourself!!

Thanks for dropping by .. see you all tomorrow!

Take 3 - Week of August 8 - take 1

This week's Take 3 challenge that I gave myself was to use the Maya Road black rub on Butterflies I have.  They are the nicest rub-ons ... but I've only used a few over the last 2 years and there must be about 50 or more on the sheet.

So here is my first take:

You've seen this color combo just recently from me but I still had more of this wonderful red gingham ribbon that I was dying to use.  This time I rubbed the black Maya Road butterfly onto some red scrap paper and then cut them out.  It made for a great focal point!

Drop back in tomorrow to see what I created for Take 2 using these butterflies.....

Enjoy the Moment

I picked up a great package of clear stamps from Maya Road.  I am a big MR fan as their products are always top notch!!

Pulled together this quick card using the cute polka dot tree!  The shadow is a "stamp" I created myself out of left over rubber from some other set that you need to cut out.

The striped paper comes from one of my new Campfire paper by October Afternoon.  The colors are so yummy!!

Thanks for dropping by!

Polka Dot Skinnies

I made these cards a LOOOONG time ago.  But I just came across them when I was cleaning out my scraproom so I thought I would post them.

I love polka dots ... a lot!!  LOL!!  As you can tell from these cards.

See those clear Maya Road flowers on there...with a hint of red ink on them!  I htinkt hat looks great!!  Must dig them out and use up a few!!

Supplies: Stamps - Polka Dot Basics, Beautiful Blooms, Borders & Corners {Square}, Faux Ribbon (all Papertrey Ink)

These cards are an interesting size becuase they fit into a "purse" that I had created from an old template (no longer available, sorry).  I had to make home-made envelopes for them to fit into.  I don't do that very often except when I end up making odd sized cards!

Have a great day!!

I Love Polka Dots!

I do, I really love polka dots!! So, when I saw that Papertrey Ink was coming out with a whole set of Polka Dots, I knew I had to get it!! And I did.

I made this set using 2 of the sizes of Polka Dots. The little purse (on the left) is a template I found on bydonovon.com. It closes with a small bit of velcro and has that strap. The cards are pretty straight forward! I used some Maya Road clear flowers but to make them stand out I rubbed them with some Pomegranate ink before attaching them! Supplies: Cardstock-Kraft, Baisc Black (SU!), Ink-Pomegranate, Basic Black (SU!), Stamps-Polka Dots, Borders & Corners{square and oval}, Faux Ribbon, Beautiful Blossoms (all Papertrey Ink), Accessories-clear flowers (Maya Road), double stitched pomegranate ribbon (SU!), black marker (zig). I'll upload a few pics from our trip tonight to share. Thanks for visiting. Donelda

Faux Papertrey Ink Pattern Paper

Well, I just saw that Nichole Heady over at Papertrey Ink had given a challenge to some of the ladies on her Design Team. The challenge was to pair their favorite clear product with new Everyday blessings patterened paper . Here is what Nichole did. And also the others:
Well, I wanted to play but I don't actually have any of the new paper...yet!! But I didn't want that to interfere with my fun. So, I decided to make some FAUX Papertrey Ink Patterned Paper by using my Papertrey Ink stamps. As well, I must confess, I also do not own the new PTI colored ink yet either....so I used the colors that I have that are the closest... Soft Sky and River Rock from Stampin' Up. So, what do you think?? Is it close?? Do I get bonus points for trying??
For the clear item, I used one of my yummy Maya Road clear flowers. Then, using my Faux Pattern Paper, I attached it using spray adhesive and then cut around the flower using my hobby knife. I attached a large brad from Making Memories in the center. The rest of the card is pretty straight forward. I stamped the same small images onto the strip of Soft Sky using Versamark ink. And the sentiment was stamped with River Rock inside of a piece of Hodgepodge Hardware from Stampin' Up. All of this was placed onto a River Rock card base. I kept the rest of the card fairly simply since I wanted the pattern paper flower to take center stage!!
Well, I hope you like my attempt at this great challenge!! Make sure you check out the rest of the ideas from the Papertrey Ink Design team!!

Grateful for Butterflies

I have so much to share, I decided to post twice today!!!!!! I had bought a few Heidi Swapp masks a few months ago but I've not gotten around to trying them out. So I pulled out these butterflies and gave it a whirl!! I put the masks onto Soft Sky cardstock and then sponged Soft Sky ink over the entire card front. When the masks peeled off a beautiful image was there!! I also like using a make-up sponge (vs. a brayer, not that I have one that works) since it creates such a soft molted kinda look, know what I mean??!! Then, I wanted to use Kraft and Black to go with my butterflies. I added the sentiment in black and one of my Maya Road velvet flowers. I find it soooo hard to actually use these since I think they are so amazingly beautiful....I just like to hoard them!! But I forced myself to add one to this card. I also have a leaf mask that I'll have to try soon!! Supplies: Cardstock-Kraft, Soft Sky, Basic Black (SU); Ink-Soft Sky, Basic Black (SU); Stamps-Small Script (SU); Accessories-Mini Mask (Heidi Swapp), makeup sponge, velvet flower (Maya Road), antique brass brad (SU) Thanks for visiting!!

Maya Road Red and Brown Birthday

I did this card for the Ways to Use it Challenge 147! Jacksonbelle was filling in for Julia and asked us to use FLOWERS. Well, I have the pack of Maya Road clear flowers but I tend to hoard them. So, I decided to pull them out and actually use them!!
This card was made for one of our twin neices. Although they are twins, they are actually quite different so I decided to make similar yet different cards for them. Here is one for Savanna who is a sporty gal!
I started out with the color combo of read and brown. I stamped the oval in Ruby Red and then added the sentiment inside with Chocolate Chip. Then I put this on a chocolate chip scallop oval that I punched using Robin's punch -- Robin was so sweet to share her punches with me to punch out a bunch. I then colored the Maya Road clear flower by using Ruby Red classic ink and my Stampin' Up dauber. I kinda wish I made it a bit darker now that I see how light it is when on the card. Once it was dried, I added a large brown brad.
The main part of the card is made by adding that awesome deep red piece of cardstock onto a vanilla base. Then I added a strip of Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. On the vanilla, I carried the stitching look from the oval which seemed to pull it together a bit.
Supplies: Cardstock-Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip (SU), Burgandy (unknown); Ink-Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip (SU), Stamps-Faux Ribbon, Borders & Corners {Oval} (Papertrey); Accessories-Clear Flowers (Maya Road), large brad (Dollar Store), Coluzzle oval, oval scallop punch (Marvy).
Thanks for visiting.

Elegant

Hi everyone!! I'm sad because this weekend everyone was in Calgary stamping in their pajamas, 24 hours each day for the whole weekend and I was sitting at home missing out on the fun. It just didn't work for me to be able to attend so I've got my sights set on the next central Alberta get-together. So, what does one do when she is missing her stamping buddies.... she stamps, of course. I sat down and decided to use up some of the absolutely yummy Daisy D's paper that I bought quite a while ago at my local scrapbooking store. Yes, I'm a total paper hoarder...well, I actually hoard most of my supplies. I find awesome items to use on my cards, spend the money, bring it home and then they just sit in my craft room looking all pretty and wonderful. Well, today I really pushed myself because not only did I use the Daisy D paper... I also used a prima flower that I am sure I bought over a year ago (and this is the first one I used out of the container!) and I used a velvet blossom from Maya Road that Nicole is carrying over at Papertrey Ink. I love, love, love those velvet blossoms... I bought the package that contains the black, chocolate chip, caramel, and vanilla colors since I tend to use those colors families the most!! I even used my scallop scissors along the bottom of the black strip. I don't ususally pull them out but my son did a project a few weeks ago and I really liked the look. At the last minute, I added some paper piercing along the edges of the So Saffron paper. I love the look of paper piercing, it give the design a "little something" without adding "more" to the card. There isn't a lot of stamping on the card, only the sentiment which comes from Measure of a Life (SU). I didn't want to detract from that fabulous paper and those georgous flowers!! Oh no, I'm beginning to sound like Jan Tink... hahaha, she is georgous too -- pop over to her blog for a good laugh and some awesome projects!! Supplies: Cardstock: basic black and So Saffron (SU), Designer Paper Daisy D's called Boho Floral, Stamp: Measure of Life (sU), Prima flower, Maya Road velvet flowerr, black brad (SU), Provo Craft small scallop scissors. Thanks for stopping in to visit again!! Post a link in the comments section of a card you have made recently that uses some of those items you like to hoard...and if you are not a hoarder -- good on you!!
