BasicGrey Challenge - Chevron Stripes and Young Crafters Unite - Masculine

The Young Crafters Unite challenge is masculine - a style I like to try to do as often as possible because it is a challenge.  As well, the challenge on right now at Basicgrey is to use Chevron Stripes

I decided to mix these two challenges together.  Here is my card:

I created the chevron from using Prehistoric paper from Archaic collection (BasicGrey) .... a very old collection that I have saved for a loooong time for just the right time which was this one.

Thanks for dropping in!  Hope you enjoy.

Baby Cards

Here are a few cute little baby cards. I had actually made them for a BasicGrey challenge but never got around to posting them in time (same old story!!). But I had to post them anyway because they are So cute!!
I started out with those little stickers of the cow and lamb. I got them at the Dollar Store in town. In the package, they come on a gross piece of shiny blue paper but I gently pulled that off. The pink (Smart from Sultry collection) and the blue sky papers are both BasicGrey. The green is a piece from my huge scrap pile and I cut little bits of grass along the top edge.
Supplies: Stamps - Everyday Classics, Mixed Messages, Borders & Corners {square} (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Jet Black (Ranger); Other - animal stickers (Dollar Store).
Thanks for dropping in to my blog! I am so happy that today is Friday. I am hoping to get lots of crafting done this weekend.

BasicGrey Challenge - Late

On the Basic Grey blog, the last challenge was an inspiration challenge using this photo. I love the colors and there are all kinds of things that peaked my interest. The striped chair on the right was awesome, and so was that wall paper on the back wall, I was even simply interested in the various shades of blues and greys. However, what won out was that arrangement of 3 square decorative pieces on the left grey wall!!
I used my Flourishes inchie stamps (Inkadinkado) and stamped 2 of the images onto Kazoo Blue paper from the Cupcake collection (BasicGrey) with Versamark ink. Then I heat embossed it with white. I cut them out and popped them up with dimensionals onto more Kazoo Blue paper. I added this to some Going Grey cardstock (Stampin' Up!) which was matted
onto a white card base. I finished the card off by drawing a rectangle around the focal image with my white gel pen (Signo).
Of course, I am too late to enter this into the actual contest because the closing date was yesterday!! Sheesh!!
I will likely be back with more posts today and tomorrow since hubby is working this weekend and it is a cold and snowy day -- great day for creating!!

BasicGrey Color Challenge - Color Combo 2

I love BasicGrey paper - so much so that I tend to buy it and never use it. It is just so pretty to look at that I find it hard to actually cut up!! I know that is silly and makes no sense so I am determined to start using it. (Trouble is, now I buy 2 sheets - one to keep and one to use - crazyness!). Anyway, I was glad to see the BasicGrey Challenge Blog up and running again because it will make me start using all my beautiful paper (well, the "use it" sheet anyway *wink*).
So this challenge is a color combination - a nice blue, red, green combo - pretty easy!! I started out making these great circle embellishments with a bunch of different papers in the colors for the challenge. I punched the more decorative paper with a 1 1/2" circle punch and cut a scallop circle with the darker/solid color using my Nestabilities. Then, I cut a 1/2" circle out of the darker/solid colors too. I piled these all up on top of each other and added a button witha hemp knot on it (tip - to get my buttons to lay flat on the embellishments, I tied the hemp into a knot and then added them to the buttons with a half glue dot). Finally, I added my curved sentiment over each circle. One of the reasons I love acrylic stamps is the ability to make straight sentiments curved!!!
Supplies: Stamps - Simple Little Things (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Jet Black (Ranger); Cardstock - Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Designer Paper - Pomade from Eva collection, Henley, Long Underwear, and Vintage Tee all from Boxer collection, Make a Wish and Kazoo Blue both from Cupcake collection (all BasicGrey); Other - hemp, buttons.
Do you love BasicGrey paper as well?? Are you a horder like me?? If not, what is your secret to just using it all???
Thanks for dropping in!!

BasicGrey Challenge - Week 2

So BasicGrey is back with their challenges and I am really glad. It makes me use some of their delicious papers instead of hoarding them, like I seem to do!!
This week, the challenge was a color challenge ... brown, pink, and yellow. That was easy enough and encouraged me to cut into my extra piece of Langley from the Porcelain collection (see I buy one to keep and one to cut...hehehe I can still hoard that way). I also knew this cute little kitty with the big bow from smARTworks would be a perfect image. I colored it in with a combination of Prismacolor pencil crayons and ink.
I added the yellow strip at the bottom that has some clear embossed polka dots.
Supplies: Stamps - Do You See What I See (smARTworks), sentiment is from Birds of a Feather, Polka Dot Basics (Papertrey Ink); Paper - Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up!), Select White, Lemon Tart (Papertrey Ink), Langly designer paper from Porcelain collection (BasicGrey); Ink - Black (Rnager); Other - clear embossing powder, pencil crayons (Prismacolor), odorless thinner, stubs, brown satin ribbon (Michaels), scallop scissors (Provo Craft), dimensionals.
Make sure you pop over to the BasicGrey Challenge site to see what everyone else created with this lovely color combo.
