Favourite Art Project (art journal page)

Hello!

There is so much going on at Creative Jump Start 2014 (CJS) that it is hard to keep up!

Today I am posting some pictures of my favourite art project of 2013.  It is an art journal page I made.  It uses a few favourite things, first, my stamps.  I started out with stamps and I love them so I try to use them as often as I can in my art journaling.  Some products that are also on this page is moulding paste (you can see that on this page I stamped my stamp into some moulding paste!) and varnish (which I used to stamp the same image using the varnish ... which acted like a resist as more layers went on).

Here is a close up of the stamp pushed into the moulding paste.

And here is a close up where you can see the varnish resist image .. at the bottom left and a bit in the middle right.  It has the orange colour coming through which resisted the darker blues placed over top.

One of my all time favourite pages using some of my favourite tools and products!  So much fun.
Okay, off to make another page.

Crafty Creations Challenge #164 - Flocked Pussywillows says Spring

Hello and welcome back to another Crafty Creations Challenge.  This week Digital Delights us sponsoring out challenge.  Our challenge #164 is to celebrate spring with some green/buds/blossoms/grass.  I opted to go with buds ... Pussywillows to be precise.  This image from smARTworks is my favourite to pull out at this time of year!

The pussywillows are 'flocked' with white ... they are soft and fuzzy in real life.  Unfortunately hard to tell in this photo.  I also used my new Distress Stain in Tumbled Glass (Ranger) for the background.

Now you need to go visit Crafty Creations Challenge Blog to see what all the others did for this challenge.  Then link up your own card or project for your chance to win!!

Crafty Creations Challenge #163 - Game On!

Hello and welcome to Crafty Creations Challenge #163 - Game On!  That's right, the challenge is to create a card that deals with games (ball, board, or anything else).

Now let me tell you, I was really stumped on this one at first .. but then I started looking around and realized I did have a few sets that would help.  In the end, I created 3 different Clean And Simple cards using Toy Box (Stampin' Up - retired) and Boy Basics: Game On (Papertrey Ink).

Here is card #1 - a little 3x3 to give my wonderful son some inspiration at some point:

Card #2 ... a play off the ball in Toy Story ....

and Card #3, which I will probably save for my son's birthday which is quickly approaching!  Check that awesome graph paper ... downloaded it free HERE.

Like I said, I stuck to Clean and Simple, and all are very masculine cards - perfect for boys!

Okay, now off to check out and see what everyone else created.

Group 2:

and check out the
for cards that members of Group 1 might have added.

Now it is your turn.  Look around your crafting space ... think outside the box!!  Maybe you have some old dominos laying around or scabble pieces ... just think ... Bingo is a game, right .... (now I am just giving myself more ideas ... LOL!)

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

Made this adorable card for a swap I am in over at SCS.  This image was from Debra - perfect for Valentine's day.  These lovely Tilda's always give my copic's a good workout.  Problem is that i have few to choose from!!  Sentiments are from Wishing You ... and Gracious Vases (both Papertrey Ink).

Off to post on SCS now!  Have a great day with lots of hugs and kisses!!

Partridge Parade

My neice had a Stampin' Up! party!  I was lucky enough to get invited.  I decided to buy this cute little partridge set because I didn't own anything with partridges!

Love all the little babies along the bottom.  This is a fun layout too!

Thanks for visiting!

Tuesday Morning Sketch #130 and Lily Pad Card Challenge - Best Wishes Bride and Groom

My blogging buddy, Jessica, created the sketch for this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch so I wanted to play along.  As well, Lily Pad has a card challenge going on right now ... to use your favourite patterned paper and make a card with it .. no more hoarding!
Well, I have had this paper from Stampin' Up! for years ... one of my favourite in the pack that I loved and therefore wouldn't cut into it .. until today!!

This lovely doily die was sent to me from one of my former Secret Sisters - Linda (thanks yet again!).  The colours ended up being pretty washed out ... bu the leaves are stamped with Mellow Moss and the Best Wishes sentiment (Papertrey Ink - Giga Guide Lines) is embossed in gold to match the ribbon feature which has the rest of the sentiment (from Wedding Day, Papertrey Ink) embossed in white.

What a great day of card making!  Hope you've enjoyed your Sunday as well.
See you tomorrow with another challenge card.

Christmas cards - Post 6

I adore this little snowman with his sweet birdie friends.  I received the image from a friend.

He is coloured with pencil crayons.  What a great layout ... placing the 3 blocks of colours behind an image is a wonderful way to add colour but keep the focus on the main image.

It is Christmas eve eve ... LOL!  We have really slowed down and are now really just enjoying our time together as a family!

Just 2 more sleeps......

Clean and Simple Christmas

A few years ago my wonderful son bought me these Christmas stamps (from Stampin' Up!).  I really wanted to pull them out and use them.  Because the image is so busy itself, I decided to keep the overall card pretty Clean and Simple (CAS).

Images were coloured in with my Stampin' Up markers.  The top sentiment comes with the SU! set but hte bottom sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Linking this post up for the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World.

Thanks for dropping in for a visit!

Jay Gee's Nook #14 -

Hey everyone!  Today I want to share with you my creation for Jay Gee's Nook #14 challenge.  Look at all the amazing inspiration in this ... I could create a hundred cards based on this one inspiration collage!!  But I finally decided to focus in on that package about mid photo .. the one with the pine cones and branches .. see it.....

And here is the card that I ended up with (sorry the color is not good, I continue to struggle with lighting issues in my craft room/whole house!!):

I used an old classic Fantastic Foliage from Stampin' Up! ... long since retired but I will never part with it!!

I curved the pine cones and added some dimensional adhesive underneath to pop them out.  You can tell a bit better here in this photo.

Okay, I know there are going to be lots of great creations based on this challenge ... off to check them out.

Drop back in tomorrow for my first Design Team card for the Crafty Creative Challenge blog

Crafty Creations Challenge #144 - Recycle

This week's challenge at Crafty Creations Challenge #144 is to recycle.  Well, if you have ever been around my blog you will know that I do that all the time!!  Today I recycled a music sheet that I got from an old old old organ music book.  Another recycled item is a small amount of black velvet trim that came off of an old pair of slippers.

I don't make many wedding cards (not many folks in my world getting married these days) but thought the wedding bells would look great with the music background.

Off to post and see what everyone else recycled...

Thanks for dropping by,

Play Date Cafe #108 - Rich and Warm Colours

The Play Date Cafe colours for challenge #108 were so delicions that I wanted to play along.  However, they were so much fun, I couldn't stop.  I ended up making 2 different cards and then using my scraps to create a third card!

This fist card was clean and simple.  I'm really digging the graphic look these days

I knew the 3 colours would make a great background for a silouette stamp so I used this old Stampin' Up! image on a sponged background.  I kep the rest of the card cas ... and couldn't bring myeself to stamp a sentiment on the front so it went inside.

And then, I just couldn't bring myself to throw out the beautiful scraps.  I saw them all sitting there on my craft table and figured I could add them together for a mosaic look .....

... and here is a close-up.

You might recognize the sketch from CPS ... but too late to add it to the challenge.

That was fun!!
Thanks for dropping by.

Crafty Creations Challenges - Color Challenge

Over on Crafty Creations Challenges the latest color combo challenge were definately my colours so I decided to play along.  The colors were Kraft/Brown, White/Cream, and one other colour.  I chose to use Brown and Cream with Orange thrown in for the other colour.

The leaves and tag are Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink) cardstock that was spritzed with water, crumpled, and then ironed.  I punched the little maple leaves out with a small punch I picked up from Michael's $1.50 bin - what a bargin!  Before punching the leaves, I sponged on a bit of Spiced Marmalade distress ink (Ranger).  The effect is awesome in real life.  The tag was hand drawn and cut from the same cardstock, just no sponging on it.

Supplies: Stamps-Take a Bough, Round &Round, Fancy Flourishes (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up!), Spiced Marmalade (Ranger); Paper - Summer Sunshine (Papertrey Ink), Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla (Stampin' Up!), Au Chocolate patterned paper (Stampin' Up!),Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon (Stampin' Up!), Dark Chocolate twill (Papertrey Ink); oval die (Spellbinders)

Since the CCC are looking for a Design Team and I did the challenge I figured I'd throw my name in to be considered.  Not holding my breath but it would be fun.

Thanks for dropping by.

Take 3 Challenge - Snowflake - Take 2

Hello and welcome back to my latest Take 3 Challenge.

This week it is actually a double challenge - I am using that snowflake image from an old Stampin' Up! set called All Through the Year and papers from Holly Jolly pack by My Minds Eye.  Here is my Take 2 card:

The snowflakes are embossed this time.  See that red polka dot border ... it is actually from the
die cut page from the My Minds Eye package ... and I've been dying to use it.  Not sure
why, but I am totally in LOVE with it!!!

So there is my Take 2 card.  Just one more card to go ... which you can only see if
you come back tomorrow!!   Of course, you will be dying with anticipation
so you will need to come back!!

Take 3 Challenge - Snowflake - Take 1

This week's Take 3 Challenge is a double Take 3 Challenge.  It centers around the snowflake from an old Stampin' Up! set called All Through the Year.  It was one of those sets I just HAD to have ... but have rarely used.  A Take 3 Challenge is a good way to get it out and use it!  Incidently, all 3 cards in this Take 3 Challenge also use paper from the Holly Jolly paper pack from My Minds Eye (last year's paper).  It is a stunning collection of papers!!

And here is Take 1.  A fairly Clean and Simple card, showing off those prancing reindeer.  I love when I see crafters doing this tied off the edge ribbon technique but I rarely think to do it myself.

The frame is from Borders & Corners: Squares (Papertrey Ink) and the sentiment is from Take a Bough (also Papertrey Ink).

Another variation using this snowflake stamp tomorrow which means a few more Christmas cards have been made.

See you tomorrow.

Scrappy Love

(note - blogger was supposed to post this yesterday but didn't!  That is frustrating when that happens.  It seems to say scheduled when I look but then decides to change it back to draft ... anyone know why that happens???)

I found all of these lovely pieces (5) in my scrap bin and pulled them together to create this love you card.

To make everything work well together, I sponged Close to Cocoa ink around the edges.

Amazing what a few pieces of leftovers can create!!

Thanks for dropping by today!  I hope your day is fantastic.

Birthday Birdie

Love, love, love this bird punch from Stampin' Up!   I have lots of plans for it ... just haven't gotten a change to carry them out yet. Stay tuned!

This card was created at the Stampin' Up! party that my niece had back in April.  It was lots of fun.

Thanks for dropping by my little corner of the www!!  Enjoy your day.

Stampin' Up! party with my neice

My neice, Hannah, is becomming a card maker and I couldn't be happier!  She shares my crafty passion!  A few weeks ago she invited me to a Stampin' Up! party she was having.  It was so much fun and this is one of the cards we made.  So pretty and summery!!

All supplies are Stampin' Up, of course.

Thanks for dropping by.

Valentines

Eeek, how did the days leading up to Valentine's get away from me.  I guess it is because we were really busy.  Anyway, here are a bunch of valentines I created.  Almost all of them use images and elements that come from my scrap bins!!
This squirrel image is from smARTworks.

This growing plant is also from smARTworks. And see the hearts on the brown piece of cardstock, they are embossed with clear embossing powder.

This grid card was tons of fun to create.  The heart image is an old one from Stampin' Up!  I had stamped off about a hundred of them a number of years ago so I decided to use a bunch up.  Cut 9 out and sponged around the edges with tea dye distress ink.  then I adhered them to 9 squares of white cardstock that were stamped with text using more tea dye distress ink.

This next card was also a scrap card... I used up this cardboard heart shape that I had stamped up last year!  Added a few strips of brown cardstocks and did a bit of faux stitching.  I think you could use this card for either a masculine or a feminine card.

This next card was lots of fun to make.  The sponged piece was also sitting in my scrap bin waiting to be used.  It had been created using a t!m holtz mask.  I simply added the sentiment, white silk ribbon, and glitter butterfly.

I love this very Clean and Simple card!  Just colored the crayon image with red watercolor pencil crayons and then, using a real red crayon, wrote on my sentiment!!

The main panel on this last card was something I created a few years ago, a decorated paper bag - and now I am "repurposing" it for a card. I strategically cut the branches and words to fit a card front, added some brown cardstock along the top and bottom as well as some lovely brown ribbon. Added it all to a card base and, voila, new life!!

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!!

Inchie Nuts About You

Happy Groundhog Day.  I don't actually own a groundhog stamp so I thought this squirrel was pretty close.
This cute little squirrel is from the retired Stampin' Up! set called Wildlife Reserve.   The card ended up being very Clean and Simple.
I stamped the squirrel and then colored him with my Copics and colored pencils (Prismacolor).  Then I punched him out with a one inch square.  Next, I punched out 4 other 1" squares and colored 3 of them in with 3 of the Copic colors I had used to color in the squirrel (a pale blue, clay, and light brown).  I left one of the squares white.  Lined the squares up on the card.  The 4 colored squares are adhered directly to the card and the squirrel is popped up on dimensionals.  I added the sentiment (smARTworks) but now that this is posted I see it is a bit crooked.  Drat, I even used my Stamp-a-ma-jig and everything .. grrrrr!

Drop back in on Friday to find out what image Linda and I decided to use for our second challenge!!!

Have a great day!

Spread Your Purple Wings

I have one package of 8x8 Memory Box paper (aerial) ... and I love it ... I hoard it (snort, like you didn't know that).

So, as I try to use up my "scraps" I realized that I have a bunch of small strips of this memory box paper that I can't throw away (it's a sickness!).  So, I decided to use it to create an interesting border along the bottom of this card. I also used a piece to cut the scallop border along the bottom of the solid piece of dp.

The bird is stamped with Lavender ink (SU!) and comes from the old Carte Postale stamp set. It is actually stamped onto another piece of this Memory Box paper ... makes the whole card go together well!!   The sentiment is from Birds of a Feather set (Papertrey Ink).

Okay, so tell the truth ... do you suffer from this sickness as well???  Can you not bare to throw away the tiniest piece of designer paper????   LOL!!! !
