Crafty Creations Challenge #179 - Tag Bear

Hi everyone!  This week the Crafty Creations Challenge #179 is to create a tag or use a tag on your card.  Well, I don't know about you but I adore these big, long ribbon tags that are so popular right now!!  And this one looks so sweet next to this lovely image from Meljens Designs, our sponser this week!!

I coloured the bear and berry with a combination of Copics and pencil crayons.  See that awesome baker's twine .. it is grey and white and compliments of a former Secret Sister (thanks Vickie - LoVE it!!).  I did a bunch of faux stitching on this card - seemed approrpriate due to the stitched bear :-)

Now off you go to upload your tag at Crafty Creations Challenge for your chance to be the winner!!
See you there.

Crafty Creations Challenge #166 - Yellow + another colour

Today is another Group 1 week at Crafty Creations Challenges #166 ... but you all know I love to play along with my friends!!  Today's challenge is to use Yellow plus one other colour.  I decided to go with grey, London Fog (Memento) to be precise.  A few weeks ago I went searching for a good grey and this was what I ended up purchasing at my local scrapbook store.

Not sure if you can tell but I covered lots of the flowers with dazzling diamonds glitter (Stampin' up!).

The glitter is amazing in real life ... so, like usual, I kept the overall card very clean and simple so not to compete with all that glittery goodness!

Okay, make sure you head over to Crafty Creations Challenges blog to see the rest of the design team cards and to upload your creation for a chance to win this great prize package

See that 6x6 Picadilly BasicGrey pack ... totally worth it .... my all time favourite BasicGrey paper!!

Thanks for dropping in.

Isn't that desinger paper the best, and check out the striped chair ... makes me want to curl up in it and read a great book!

Imke, I chair-ish our friendship!  Thanks so much my friend!!

Thank You ... Imke!

This card was created for 2 reasons ....
1) to use up these great letters that Imke sent me ... she is such a thoughtful friend (thanks Imke!!)
and 2) to use that increadible BasicGrey wooden button ... see it on the left?!  Amazing!!

I found this great paper at my local Dollar Store.  It is really neat.  Very soft, almost like cloth.
I can hardly believe I actually used one of those buttons  and didn't hoard the whole package ... just 5 more left .... what will I do with them??

Thanks for dropping by.

Elegant Square Card

I am really on a "use it" mode right now.  I received these supplies (card base, black window card, and red envelope to match) from a former Secret Sister (Hi Imke!!).  They have been sitting in my "use it" bin for a long time.  I finally got busy with it.

The sentiment is from a "new to me" set - Half & Half (Papertrey Ink).  Very minimal work required on my part .. the card front is so beautiful!!

Here is a close up of the soft texture of the images on the black card front.  So elegant!

Thanks again Imke - you were a wonderful Secret Sister!!

Play Date Cafe #117 - In My Prayers

Check out the soft, beautiful colours in the latest Play Date Cafe challenge #117....

I couldn't resist and ended up with this card .....

The lovely Angel Anya (the Greeting Farm) is compliments of one of my former Secret Sisters (thanks Imke!!).  The papers are Memory Box (purple/blue) and Lily Bee Design (tan).  I have to admit, I really struggled to use that tag!!  The sentiment if from my 'new to me' Gracious Vases set (Papertrey Ink).  My favourite part of this card - her blue hair and the Star Dust stickles on her wings!!

Off to see all the other creations with these colours.
Thanks for dropping by.

Colour Q Challenge # 122 - Thinking of you

You would assume that these colours would create a Valentine card ....

.... but I have enough of them already so I went with a 'thinking of you' card.

The papers and baker's twine are from my current Secret Sister .. and I'd link her up but she is a secret (I'm not supposed to know who she is .. but I do ... thanks Secret Sister!).   Love the Doodle Bug baker's twine .. it has red, pink, and white in it!!  Awesomeness!!

Thanks for dropping by,

Christmas cards - Post 7

Today is finally Christmas Eve!  This is actually my favourite day of the year!  I love this day even more than Christmas.... because it's the anticipation that I love so much!! I love to watch my wonderful son getting excited, delivering gifts to his friends, having trouble falling asleep ... all of it is so special!  Tomorrow all the gifts get opened and then, all of a sudden, it's a whole year until we get to experience the anticipation of this day again.

This card was made almost entirely from items sent to me from my most recent Secret Sister, Imke.  She was so sweet and die cut some of these wonderful PTI trees for me from felt.  She also sent me this increadible Martha Stewart punch!  And the paper was in a package from her as well!  It all came together to create such a lovely card.  Thanks again Imke!!

Here is a close up of the cardinal.  I sponged around the edges with some Fired Brick distress ink to give it added definition and allow the wing to stand out.

I hope you all have a very peaceful Christmas Eve spent with friends and family.  Thank you to everyone who has visited me here on my blog over this last year.  I appreciate your kind words about my work and your inspiration!  I will be taking a bit of a break over the next few days but will be back to share new creations soon!

Merry Christmas,
Donelda

Christmas cards - Post 5

So I had one of the best Secret Sisters in a recent swap I'm in over at SCS.  Imke, who hails from Germany, was so kind and generous.  She sent some of the best images, including this lovely skater!

I enjoyed colouring her in using Copic markers.  See the blue snowflakes on the side ... they are fabric and from my local Dollar Store.  They started out white but I coloured them in with the same blue Copic I had sued for the iamge.

Christmas is almost here!!

Tuesday Morning Sketch #123 - Just a Note...

So I made sure I got my card linked up in time this week for the Tuesday Morning Sketch #123.  I took a little bit of liberties on my interpretation as I did not make the 3 panels exactly the same size.  The sketch is just a starting point to whet our creative appetite ... right!!??

I really enjoyed playing with these papers from Lilybee designs (This and That Collection Kit).  The dogwood flower is from Hero Arts (Antique Flower Engraving set) and the sentiment is also Hero Arts (Everyday Sayings).  And see that lovely die ... sent to me from none other than the amazing Secret Sister Imke

Masculine Boat Image

Here is a masculine card that is really Clean and Simple!  The image is from my sweet Secret Sister Linda (thank you again Linda!).  Being from the east coast, I love all images nautical!!  The designer papers on this card come from the Kraft package of BasicGrey Basics - loving them so much these days.

See you all tomorrow for a new Take 3 Challenge!

Birdie on a Branch

I received these products from my great Secret Sister, Linda.  I colored the bird and cut him out.  Then I adhered him to the card on a real branch!!   The card has such great dimension in real life.  and there is that die from Papertrey Ink that Linda got for me ... she soooo knows how much I love it!!
Thanks for dropping by for a visit.  Enjoy your weekend.

Masculine Wedding Card

So do you think it is possible to make a masculine wedding card?  Would you ever need one? What about those times when you know the groom and not the bride .. and the groom is ... well, an ol' country boy!  I think this card would be perfect!!

I recieved this great image from my Secret Sister, Linda as well as those awesome metal corner brads.  The "brad" part didn't really work for me so I just cut off the tines and used glue dots to make them stay where I wanted them to.  The card base is stamped with Designer Woodgrain (Hero Arts), one of my all time go to stamps these days!!

Thanks for dropping by, I certainly appreciate you!!

Ahoy Matey! SS Supplies

I have recently been in a swap over at Splitcoaststampers where we have a "secret sister" who sends us all sorts of wonderful images and supplies to create cards.

It just finished and I am so lucky to have had Linda as my secret sister!  She sent me the greatest things!!  Today I decided to pull out all the goodie bags and dive in to play.

Here is one of the cards I created.  Isn't this image just the cutest!!   Linda sent the image, some Papertrey Ink designer papers (the red here), and some solid Papertrey Ink cardstock (the blue here is Spring Rain) in this package.  There are so many supplies that I will have lots left to make many more cards after this one!

I loved how the boy is so dissheveled so I decided to do some tearing to the bottom of the designer paper.  I also added the sentiment and the anchor image on the card base from the Papertrey Ink set called Out to Sea.  I kept it very clean and simple to try to keep it fairly masculine.

The image is colored with my Copic markers.  I tried a new technique today with the shadow on the ground.  I have seen it somewhere else and really likedt he look.  You simply take a few markers of similar color and use dots to create shadow.  Not sure if I did it right but I think it looks okay.

I created some more cards too but I will save them for another day!
Thanks for stopping by.

Easter Chick

I am in a swap with a few ladies on SCS called a Secret Sister swap.  It is so much fun!  We don't swap cards, we swap supplies for cards.  In my most recent package I recieved just about everything you see here .. the image, the doily (that is a PTI die cut doily folks -- oops, I just had word that this is a different company die), and the designer paper.  Can you believe all that goodness!!  I colored the image with my copics.  I even took a photo of all the ones I used in case you wanted to know.  It was fun to have some new lighter colors which made coloring the image in much easier!!
This card will go to my mom for Easter!  It was so much fun to create! Thanks so much Secret Sister!!!  I am enjoying all the fun items you are sending.

Thanks for dropping in for a visit today.

Stripe of Dots

I saw this great card set on the blog justgivemestamps.   She did a great job on the card set but that is not what caught my eye.  It was the way she packaged up the card set ... I loved the strip of dots.  I'm not sure if hers was designer paper or not but I decided to use it as inspriation for a card!!

I used the relatively large circle in the Green Thumb set (Papertrey Ink) and Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, and Tempting Turquoise inks (Stampin' Up!).  Then I added a few strips of TT cardstock and a sentiment (Birthday Basics, PTI) in Chocolate Chip ink.

My Secret Sister Banu sent me some Papertrey Ink twine when we were in a swap.  It is like gold to me (what she sent me is all I have) so I am surprised that I used so much on this one card!!  and the button is a PTI Dark Chocolate button from Banu too!  Isn't she so sweet to send me the best items!!!

A pretty CAS card but I love the final results!!  Thanks Laurie for the inspriation!!
