Elegant Luck

One of my co-workers, Susan, is leaving so we needed a card to express our wishes! 

Susan is a very trendy and elegant gal so I had to create a card that would suit her style! 

This awesome flower/feather embellishment is from K&Co.  The sentiment and circle stamps are both Papertrey Ink.  The red paper in the back is from my scrap pile.  It is lovely paper - the red is all velvety.

The layout is from the KLSNS #36 challenge.

Teacher's Apples

You might remember THIS post when I was doing my strawberry week.   Well, here is the card that I mentioned that was a similar layout but made with apples instead of strawberries. 

These apples are very easy to create.  Punch a circle of light yellow cardstock.  Sponge on a few colors of read being sure to leave the "hightlight" part.  Add a hand cut leaf and stem that are also sponged with the appropraite color! 

Truthfully, you could use any fruit or vegetable that you want: lemons, bunches of grapes, oranges, carrots, pears (sorry Susan!!), peaches ... just cut the shape to be appropraite and sponge appropriately!! 

The rest of the card is very straight forward.  The letters are from Trajan Monogram Set (Papertrey Ink) and the sentiment is from Limitless Labels (Papertrey Ink).

So here is an Anniversary card I made.  It was sooo complex and took me a few hours to get finished, even if it looks pretty simple!! 

I started out by stamping the smallest dots from Polka Dot Basics onto some vanilla cardstock using Tea Dye (Distress Inks) ink.  Then I did some stitiching around the panel with my sewing machine and some tan thread.  I added that to a white mat.  Then, I created my focal piece.  The flower (from smARTworks) was stamped and cut out.  I colored it with ink and Copic markers.  Adhered that to the oval, added the eyelet and hemp.  The rectangle focal piece is popped up on dimensionals!

The picture doesn't do a great job of sharing the true colors (I still need to buy better lights for my photo box).  The actually colors are a soft yellow, peachy pink, white, and kraft.  They look quite pretty in real life.

Vellum Lace

So I was checking out Godelieve's awesome blog (I do that on a regular basis - she is SOOOO creative) and I saw that she had made the most amazing "vellum lace".  I decided to try my hand at it and here are the resutls.

I had actually made a few other cards as well but I forgot to photograph them before they went to their new homes. 

The lace is created by stamping this particular strip of Demask (Demask Design by Papertrey Ink) with Versamark onto Vellum and then embossing with white.  Then, cutting it close to the design making the final faux lace. 

The papers are all scraps from my massive collection.  The ribbon is a small spool that I purchased from Michaels a long time ago but due to it's highly ornate design and color, I've had trouble using it effectively.  I like htis ribbon treatment. I've never tried anything like it before but I've been seeing it on many blogs.

Hi everyone.  

As you can all see, I have made some changes to my blog!  With that comes "fixing up" things that might have changed.  For example, Lindsey commented that she could no longer get enlarged pictrures when she clicks on them. 

I am hoping that if any of you notice such things you leave a comment telling me about it so I can try to fix it! 

Lindsey, I have tried to correct the problem.  When I click on the photos, they enlarge for me.  Can you check to see if it works for you.  Can some others out there try it as well and let me know if it works for you too.

One Layer Wednesday (OLW) - Elephant Swirl

Susan's latest One Layer Wednesday Challenge #9 was to use Flourishes on your card.

I have a few sets of flourishes ... and look, this is all I could create! I think my creative mojo has gone on vacation!!

I don't own this little elephant punch that is so cute but I love it so much I hand drew one onto light cardboard and cut it out. Now I just use him as a template to create my own by tracing and cutting out. This time, I cut a mask and sponged on some Bordering Blue (Stampin' Up!). I then added the flourish (Finest Flourishes - Papertrey Ink) in Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink) which I thought totally looked like water! Finally, I added the little sentiment (Mixed Messages - Papertrey Ink) and a few small black accents and an eye. I ended the card by using my grey and a very light blue Copic marker to create a shadow which anchors this little guy!

Well, if I get my mojo back and think of a better idea I'll post!

Doily #6 - Butterfly Time

Here is another doily based on Christine Middlecamp's awesome project. I will not be making a piece of decorative wall art, like she is doing, but will likley use my doily creations on cards or on altered items, like gift boxes.

This doily includes a few neat items:

- The dotted background is clear embossed dots with a mixture of Broken China distress ink (Ranger) and Garden Green classic ink (Stampin' Up!) sponged on top. It ended up being a great color.

- The clock (both cardstock and transperancy that is laid on top) is not a piece of chipboard but a creation out of a smARTworks stamp.

- The butterfly is cut out from a piece of BasicGrey paper - such beautiful butterflies!!

Lucy's Challenge #11 - White, Light Blue, and Kraft

Lucy's latest challenge #11 is to use these lovely colors - White, Light Blue, and Kraft. They were so soft and yummy I couldn't resist.

It totally made me feel "nautical" so I went with this lighthouse image from Cornish Heritage Farms (retired).

I stamped the imgage and then punched out a 1/2" circle from a Post It Note. I added the circle and sponged on Soft Sky (Stampin' Up!) ink. Stitched around this panel, added it to a panel of kraft folder paper that was embossed with the Distressed Stripes folder. Then added a sentiment with a great nautical symbol inside.

I guess this is pretty masculine and I didn't even plan on that!! Go figure!!

New Look!

Yup, I finally played around with the new Blogger templates. I tend to like to keep things the same but the darn window kept popping up, so I thought I'd give it a try!! I figure the "map" background kinda goes with the whole "Wiggy's World" title!! :-) Let me know if anything is hard to read or "wonky". I'm hoping to be able to do some crafting this afternoon but first we are going to the farmer's market! So much fun. Donelda

Truth is, I have another card half created on my craft desk but I just can't find the time to get it finished!!

Hero Arts - Antique Engravings #5

Well, here is my last of 5 cards created using the new Hero Arts stamp set, Anitque Engravings. I couldn't help but use this beautiful butterfly stamp again. This time, I used darker Copic colors. I added it to a simple background and sentiment for a Clean and Simple card.

Hero Arts - Antique Engravings #4

This is card #4 this week using the Hero Arts set called Antique Engravings. If you are interested, you can check out the rest of the cards that I posted on Mon, Tues, and Wed. this week.

Today's card is my very favorite of them all!!

I stamped the 3 different shell images onto a piece of Very Vanilla scrap cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink. Then I sponged Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip ink around the edges. Then, I made ink puddles of those 2 inks and More Mustard and, using a toothbrush (an old one of course) I 'spattered' the ink all over the shells and then cut them out. While I was at it, I splattered a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock too and then added lines around it using my Chocolate Chip marker.

I adhered the shells, added this simple sentiment, and then popped this panel on top of a Very Vanilla card base. I love htis card so much I oculd create a whole bunch more!!

Hero Arts - Antique Engravings #3

Here is the 3rd card I made using the wonderful new stamp set from Hero Arts, Antique Engravings.

For this card I used some of the smaller images in the set. This little butterfly, the humming bird, and the dragonfly. I decided to use one of my favorite inchie layouts!! I stamped the images onto some white scrap cardstock and then colored 'around' them with a light blue Copic marker.

The rest of the card is pretty straight forward. I love creating cards with the color combination of Black and White with a small pop of color. I never seem to do it enough!!

Hero Arts - Antique Engravings #2

Here is the second card I made using this amazing set, Antique Engravings.

I LOVE this set especially because of the three shell images in it. Growing up on the east coast we spent every summer at the beach in our cottage. Good memories. So these shells totally take me back to those days.

I kept this card pretty clean and simply. And made it a masculine card. Again, keeping to one of my New Years resolutions - to make more masculine cards. Yeah!!

The Vanilla rectangles were cut with my Nestabilities and then the bottom of 2 were sponged lightly with Close to Cocoa ink. I stamped 3 of these little shells onto some scrap Vanilla paper and sponged them. I also took a toothbrush and puddles of Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, and More Mustard ink and "splattered" it onto the shells (if you click on the image to make it bigger you might be able to see this wonderful effect). I cut them out and adhered them onto 2 of the rectangles. The third holds the sentiment which if from Birthday Basics (Papertrey Ink). These are all popped up on a panel of Chocolate Chip carstock that was clear embossed with one of the background images from Background Basics: Retro (Papertrey Ink) - one of my favs. A bit of hemp was all that was needed to finish the card.

One Layer Wednesday (OLW) - Overlapping and Repetition

Okay, so it is soccer season and that means we are very busy. So busy that I didn't get a chance to create a card for Susan's One Layer Wednesday #6 - Overlapping (overlap sentiment on image). But that is okay because I totally think that I managed to combine overlapping with this week's One Layer Wednesday #7 - Repetition.

Ta Da!!!!! And just in the nick of time since it is Monday evening. Can't wait to see what Susan dreams up next for this coming Wednesday!!

Hero Arts - Antique Engravings #1

I had seen all the wonderful cards being made by this new stamp set called Antique Engravings by Hero Arts. I just had to have it!! So I kept looking until I found it in one of my local scrapbook stores. For the rest of the week I will showcase cards I've created with stamps from this set.

Today's card is created using one of the five amazing butterfly!

I colored the butterfly with some very light copic markers and then added it to the clan and simple card layout. This is such a nice butterfly image!! The sentiment is from Birthday Basics from Papertrey Ink.

I am proud to say that I continue to stick with my New Year's resolution to use up my scraps. All of the colored paper on this card is from my Papertrey Ink paper scrap bin!!

Hybrid Owl Card

So, look what I did today!! I watched Kristina Werner's latest Finally Friday post where she shared a step by step tutorial on creating a digital card template. Well, I wasn't able to do all the exact same things ... I still need lots of work on figuring out Photoshop, but I was able to create this!! I printed off the card and then stamped the sentiment and the little feather. That, of course, makes it a hybrid. I could have added the sentiment on Photoshop but I really wanted to make it hybrid. I don't have any free "shadows" to make the digital elements look 3 dimensional so I took my light grey alcohol marker and drew around the elements to help give some dimension. Supplies: Digital - papers and owl element from Krystal Hartley's free set called Sky Falling; Stamps - Beyond Baisc Background and Birds of a Feather (Papertrey Ink); Other - light grey (Prismacolor Alcohol marker), corner rounder (We R Memory Makers). Now, since it took me hours of playing around with lots of 'undos' I don't think I'll jump on the digital band wagon just yet. But it is kinda fun and I will probably continue to try a little!! Grad Cards - Take 2

This is my second post of graduation cards. Go to yesterday's post to see the others.

Today's cards are my favorite 2 of the 5 I made.

For this card I found a clip art photo of a football player. The boy who this card is for is a football player so I hope his mom likes this one.

For this next card, I created a faux medallion focal point. It is a very clean and simple card - very guy like!

I hope my friend likes a few of these cards. She wants 3. If you had to pick from the last five (two on this post and 3 on the previous post) which 3 would you pick????

Grad Cards - Take 1

So I was asked by some ladies at work to create graduation cards for their children.

I forgot to take pictures of the ones I made for the girl, which is too bad because they were adorable!! Oh well!

I did, however, remember to photograph these ones that were made for a boy.

This first one is created using white embossing powder.

This second one was fun because I created the little mortorboard. Not my idea but saw it on SCS. I did make the little tassel myself, kinda proud of that!!

This last one was created with a bunch of circles made with masculine papers.

Tea Time

A few months ago, Susan Trask from smARTworks, sent me my last package of stamps for design work. In that package she had used a page of beautiful paper. Not sure what kind of paper it was, whether it was some designer paper or not as there was no form of identification on the paper. But it was so beautiful I couldn't help but use it on a card.

I cut the paper into these long strips and sewed them with some zig zag stitching. I added this great tea cup image that was watercolored. A bit of wide grosgrain ribbon finished off the card.

Paper Doily #3 and Color Combo Challenge

So these paper doilies (labeled tags by Martha Stewart and found at Michaels) has totally re-inspired me and my mojo is working overtime!!!

This time I combined using one with the new Color Combos Galore Challenge #144. The colors are so yummy!!!

I also realized that I didn't have to always use white doilies but I could change them to any color I wanted by sponging on my desired color! That is exactly what I did here and I can't wait to try some other colors.

This card actually has me perplexed. I like it and yet I don't. I think it is because the base of the card is soft and elegant while the blues and pinks are quite bright so I think the looks contrast too much. Maybe if I had changed up the combination of colors on my doily it would have blended in better with the card base. My attempts to 'connect' the 2 elements was to do some distressing on all items by sponging some Antique Linen and then some Chocolate Chip. Maybe I should have given it dimensional but I didn't because the ribbon and button was doing a good job of that.

What do you think??? I'd love your input!! Have you run out to get some of these doilies yet??? I hear from Christine Middlecamp (who has started a project with them that has totally inspired me) that they are hard to find.

Oh yeah, and when I was sponging on the turquoise color, I saw that it was leaving a beautiful mask on the scratch paper on my desk so I quickly slipped a piece of what cardstock underneath it and was able to create this card with it!! I don't have a whole sheet of tempting turquoise cardstock left so I sponged around the edge of a white card to create a card base. The sentiment says "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams". Eleanor Roosevelt

Decorative Doily and Kristina Werner color challenge #2

So for any of you who frequent here once in a while you probably know that I'm usually a 2 color girl ... sometimes I get crazy and throw in a 3rd color but only when I'm feeling dangerous!! LOL! So, you can only imagine my distress when I saw 6 colors on Kristina Werner's latest Reader's Choice Color Inspiration #2!! Gasp, oh my, how could anyone put so many colors together on one card???!!! But then I remembered that it is supposed to be a challenge....right??!! So I dove right in!! Of course it helped a lot having recently checked out Christine Middlecamp's blog and her amazing Martha Stewart paper doily project. Here creations are simply out of this world ... so much so that I ran to Michaels' today in the rain just to get some!! I also picked up the Martha Stewart starburst punch (you can see it under the flower and leaf) just because Christine used it on one of her doilies. I just couldn't resist. And just a note, other than the card base and the doily, all of the paper used on this card are from my scrap bins. You see, I am totally fasinated with Amy Heller's 1 hour challenge idea where she takes all her scraps and sees what she can create in exactly one hour. Reading about it has gotten me itching to use up some of my scraps again. Strawberry Wish

Well, here is one last strawberry card. This one all started out with that rectangle of white. It is actually a rectangle of grungeboard painted with white acrylic paint. When I stamped the strawberry with ink it came out molted-like and looked vintage. So I tried to go with a vintage look. I even used one of the doily's I bought a while ago.

So I've decided that I just don't "do" vintage very well!!! I tried!! Some of the things I did to try to make it vintage-y is stitching around the red polka dots, sponging around the edge of the red with some with craft ink, the doily, and the paint(which looks kinda crackly).

Well, I hope you enjoyed my strawberry week. I hear that Dina did a strawberry card - she hasn't posted it yet (she's been a bit busy) but I'm going to keep checking because I'm sure it will be spectacular!! Did you get the strawberry fever and make a card???? I'd love to see it. Leave a link!!

Clean and Simple (CAS) Challenge #68 - Summer Sunshine

So I am interrupting my strawberry week with this bright and cheery card. I will have my last strawberry card post tomorrow (Saturday). Make sure you pop back in to see it!!

But today's card is for the Clean and Simple challenge on SCS. This week the challenge is a theme: Summer. I can hardly wait for it ... summer that is! We have had a very cold and wet spring so far. In fact, I just sat through a very wet and cold soccer game and it is supposed to snow on Saturday! Are you kidding me???!!!

So, I really enjoyed making this card, even though I'm not sure how Clean and Simple it is. I cut 2 pieces of green designer paper from my scrap bin with pinking sheers. Then I glued them onto the card and added the yellow polka dot ribbon (which I won from Fika's blog candy). Then I added the sun, which is actually a flower from Beautiful Blossoms (Papertrey Ink). Next, I sponged on the rays by using large post it notes. Finally, I added a small bit of yellow paper for the middle of the sun and stamped the sentiment along the hills (from Around and About from Papertrey Ink). The seniment placement is my favorite part of the whole card!! Well, I do like those sunny rays too!!
