(note, this is my second post of the day, to see my card for Susan R's watercolor OLW challenge, be sure to scroll down!)
Lucy gave us another challenge and this time she wanted us to use buttons. Well, I have lots of those that I can use!!
In fact, I had this lovely "collection" of spectrum colored buttons all the same that came out of a large general pack of buttons from Walmart. I had kept them knowing that I would use them for something at some point!
The sentiment is from a smARTwoks set. I stamped the senitment on a pice of white, did some sewing with my machine, and them added the buttons. I added a few strips of black cardstock that was cut with my small scallop scissors. A very easy and Clean and Simple card.
(edited to add - and guess what... Lucy picked my card as one of the 'winners' of this challenge. You can check that out HERE)
Off to see what everyone else did with thier buttons!

Lucy's Challenge #11 - White, Light Blue, and Kraft
Lucy's latest challenge #11 is to use these lovely colors - White, Light Blue, and Kraft. They were so soft and yummy I couldn't resist.
It totally made me feel "nautical" so I went with this lighthouse image from Cornish Heritage Farms (retired).
I stamped the imgage and then punched out a 1/2" circle from a Post It Note. I added the circle and sponged on Soft Sky (Stampin' Up!) ink. Stitched around this panel, added it to a panel of kraft folder paper that was embossed with the Distressed Stripes folder. Then added a sentiment with a great nautical symbol inside.
I guess this is pretty masculine and I didn't even plan on that!! Go figure!!
Supplies: Stamps - Lighthouse (Cornish Heritage Farms), Around and About, Out to Sea (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Jet Black (Ranger), Soft Sky (Stampin' Up!); Paper - Whisper White, (Stampin' Up!), a kraft file folder; Other - 1/2" and 1" circle punch, sponge, sewing machine and thread, dimensionals, Post It Note, Distressed Stripes folder, Cuttlebug.
Well, off to see everyone elses' crations using these yummy colors!!

Lucy`s Challenge /10 - Digital - Airplane Birthday
(note - second post for the day!)
Lucy is such an amazing crafter!! I love her clean and simple cards. And lately, she`s been throwing out challenges. This time, it is a challenge to use digital, something she is very good at. I, however, am not so good at that!! But I wanted to try!
A few weeks ago I purchased some stuff at my local scrapbook store and had spent enough to pick something out of the bucket for free. I saw a digital scrapbook memories CD that was called Oh Boy and had tons of sport images and papers on it so I picked it. I decided to try it out for Lucy`s challenge.
Here is the end result. I`m not totally sold on the card itself but I love the images. The clouds are a great turquoise gingham pattern - love them!! I chose the 3 clouds, resized them to what I wanted and printed them out. Then I picked the cute airplane, resized it, and printed it out. I cut all 4 items and adhered them to the card using dimensional foam for the plane and one cloud. A sentiment was added and some sponging. Voila, a digital card!
Supplies: Stamps - Birthday Basics, Simple Alphabet (Papertrey Ink); Paper - Whisper White (Stampin`Up!); Ink - Tempting Turquoise (Stampin Up!); Other - Oh Boy CD (Digital Scrapbook Memories), dimensionals.
I am going to continue to play around with digital but I love the feel of playing with paper and embellishments that I doubt I will ever become a true digital crafter! But I love the options of what digital can provide in a hybrid kind of way. I just need more practice!!!
Off to see what everyone else did for Lucy`s challenge.
Thanks for visiting today!!

Stitched Star - Lucy's Cards Challenge #9
I love Lucy's blog, she is such a talented card maker!! So I like to try to participate in her challenges that hse has recently started. Challenge #9 has to include stitching. I really like the look of stitching on cards and I had recently made a bunch of stars out of old jeans that I stitched (thanks to inspiration from Char) ... a perfect starting point for this project.
I took inspiration for my background from Donna at three umbrellas. She makes the most amazing backgrounds that I've been meaning to try so I decided today was the day!! I stamped the dots on white cardstock with versamark and clear embossed them. Then I applied distress inks over top. I decided not to add dropplets of water but that looks cool too as you can see on THIS card.
Supplies: Stamps - Polka Dot Basics II, Simple Little Things (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Spiced Marmalade, Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint (Ranger), Paper - Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Other - old jeans, sewing machine and thread, sponge applicator, Labels 1 die (Spellbinders), dimensionals.
Now I must go see all the other cards created with stitching on them!! Can't wait for the inspiration!! Thanks to Lucy for another great challenge!
