Crafty Creations Challenge #179 - Tag Bear

Hi everyone!  This week the Crafty Creations Challenge #179 is to create a tag or use a tag on your card.  Well, I don't know about you but I adore these big, long ribbon tags that are so popular right now!!  And this one looks so sweet next to this lovely image from Meljens Designs, our sponser this week!!

I coloured the bear and berry with a combination of Copics and pencil crayons.  See that awesome baker's twine .. it is grey and white and compliments of a former Secret Sister (thanks Vickie - LoVE it!!).  I did a bunch of faux stitching on this card - seemed approrpriate due to the stitched bear :-)

The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) Challenge #2 - Congrats

Wanted to play along with The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) Inspiration Challenge #2.  Loved the colours ...

So I took the 5 colours and did some paper piecing to create a cute little scene using these little birdies.  One is from Snow Much Fun set and the other is from Priceless Joy set. 

I used my new tumbled glass Distress Stain for the sky!  Love it!!

Tulip Baby Welcome

Hi everyone!

I tend not to combine challenges and then, if I'm ever brilliant enough to do so it is usually a maximum of 2 different challenges.  So you can imagine my surprise when I realized that I could combine 4 different challenges without my head exploding!  LOL!

First up, the CAS-ual Fridays challenge was to make a baby card. Also, Use it Tuesday's challenge is also to make a baby card - in celebration of Heather's new arrival Clarie!  As it just so happens, I need one!

Then I saw these lovely soft colours on the Play Date Cafe challenge ... that would work!

and finally over at Our Creative Corner the challenge is Over the Edge, which I love but rarely think to do....(and I see I am too late to link it up for the challenge ... sigh!)

In the end, it all came together with this card:

Featuring 2 of my own hand-created stamps.  The background image is a new one - a starburst of sorts, and then my flower image - which I think can be used as a rose (see yesterday's card) or as a tulip as shown here.  It also features my home-made template for the Sahara Sand (Stampin' Up!) panel across the front (looks way more kraft in the image but is a much softer sand colour in real life!).

Here is a close up of the dimension.  Senitment if from Round and Round (Papertrey Ink anniversary stamp set).

This card was so much fun to make!!! Now I'm off to load it up and check out what all the other challenge go'ers made with these challenges.

One Layer Wednesday (OLW) 63 -- Baby

Susan and Jennifer have resumed their One Layer Wednesdays (OLW)!!  Yeah!! 

This week Jennifer challenged us to make a one layer baby themed card. 

I hunted through my stash for all things baby and decided upon this Kaisercraft image and a PTI sentiment.

The image was done with a combination of watercoloring with ink and Copics.  I love all the Star Dust Stickles on the moon, star, and clouds.

Elephant Parade

I continue on my quest to use up stuff from my scrap bins.  These elephants were punched out of some watercolor paper I had 'painted' with some reinkers.  Before punching out the elephants, I sprayed the paper with some water that had Perfect Pearls (Ranger) in it.  It gives the elephants a funky shimmer (see the smaller close up!). 

I added some starbursts (Martha Stewart) punches cut in half like a scallop border.  Very different and I like it!  The sentiment is from this year's anniversary set from Papertrey Ink called Round and Round , I really like the fonts used in the sentiments.  The background paper is BasicGrey (Phoebe collection). 

The elephant punch and the Basic Grey paper were given to me in a swap by my Secret Sister, Banu.  Isn't she the best??!!

Moon and Star Welcome Baby

More attempts to use items from my scrap bins.  See that moon and star...I've had them for at least 2 years sitting in my "small" scrap bin.  The swirly heart background has been in my "medium" scrap bin for at least 2 years as well.  Time to use them up!!

I don't make many baby cards because I don't have many friends having babies these days.  But a few younger friends have gotten married recently and one of my friends has both of her children due for babies this year.

One Layer Wednesday (OLW) - Elephant Swirl

Susan's latest One Layer Wednesday Challenge #9 was to use Flourishes on your card.

I have a few sets of flourishes ... and look, this is all I could create! I think my creative mojo has gone on vacation!!

I don't own this little elephant punch that is so cute but I love it so much I hand drew one onto light cardboard and cut it out. Now I just use him as a template to create my own by tracing and cutting out. This time, I cut a mask and sponged on some Bordering Blue (Stampin' Up!). I then added the flourish (Finest Flourishes - Papertrey Ink) in Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink) which I thought totally looked like water! Finally, I added the little sentiment (Mixed Messages - Papertrey Ink) and a few small black accents and an eye. I ended the card by using my grey and a very light blue Copic marker to create a shadow which anchors this little guy!

Well, if I get my mojo back and think of a better idea I'll post!

Mini Baby Scrapbook

Remember my friend who had the baby girl?? Well, baby's name is Emma. I created this little mini scrapbook for her. Here aer a few of the pages in the book. Remember, they like pink, black and white!!

On the inside of the book, I added photo corners

so that mom and dad can add current photos and

change them out with newer photos as baby Emma grows!!!

The black and white papers are from Creative Memories that my friend Dawn gave me for Christmas. There were numerous stamps and bits and pieces in there too!!

smART Word Challenge March - Monochromatic

For the month of March, it was Dina's turn to pick the Word for the smART Word Challenge and her choice was - MONOCHROMATIC. I love monochromatic cards but rarely think to make them.

I was playing around with this new to me Noah's Ark (smARTworks) set trying to find something to do with it that was different than just coloring it in with my pencil crayons or watercoloring. I decided to see what it would look like in various shades of brown. I liked what I saw and realized that it would fit Dina's word!!

I added a brown scallop edge using my new Fisker's Treading Water edge punch ** love it ** and a bit of brown on the other side with some piercing along it. I added a simple sentiment taken from one of the larger sentiments in the Fun Stuff set (smARTworks).

So, what color are you going to pick for your MONOCHROMATIC card?? Remember, you can use whatever supplies you have on hand but if you do use smARTworks stamps you will earn a smART Buck!! Bonus!!!

Loonie Stamper Challenge #37 - Welcome Baby Owl

This week it was Wendy from the Loonie Stampers who picked these great colors. I think she also expected to have Mother's Day cards to be created...but I have had a request for baby cards and these colors just screamed "make a baby card with me" LOL. So, I did!!

I totally used Krysten Ng's card seen HERE as inspiration because I loved it so much. If you haven't visited her blog {sugar buffet} you really should...she's fantastic (and what a great blog name!!).

Of course I used the owl from PTI and a few other little changes. See those stripes on the bottom of the card, they are made using the short stamps found in the Wedding Day set from PTI. Yes, I could have used the stamps from Faux Ribbon (certainly expected) but the ones in the wedding set are so much shorter and, thus, easier to use.

So, sorry Loonie ladies that my card is not a mother's day card, but I do love these colors!! Now off to see what all the loonie girls did:

Scraps from Juanita

So Juanita sent me another package of her scraps. This time, she was very ingenious!! She sent me the 2 blue colored punched pieces and a former baby thank you card. Unfortunately, I forgot again to photograph the items before I started creating!! Anyway, they are in there. I started out cutting out the wonderful little animals on the baby card. They were so sweet. I used them and the blue pieces of scrap to determine the color combo and decided to go with this lilac purple from my own scrap pile. I added some real stitching around the purple piece and drew some doodling around the 2 blue pieces. Finally, I had my son help me decide what to do on the white bottom of the card. He decided that I should add what you see here....some new stamps from Papertrey Ink!! Finally, I added the little sentiment (Sweet Baby) from Papertrey's original Mixed Messages set. A perfect sentiment! So, what have you created with your scraps lately?? Oh, and some great news from Susan over at smARTworks ....She is going to be kinda on holidays this week so ... Ducky Baby Gift

I've wanted to stamp on material for a long time but I don't own many craft or pigment inks. However, I just bought a package of ColorBox Fluid Chalk Cat's Eyes Queue (the Pumpkin Patch group as those are a group of colors I use a lot).



I used them to stamp on this white "onsie" for a friend's baby. Then I made a card to match. When I made the card, I started out making the strip with the ducks on it. Then, I scored above and below the ducks (I don't think you can see it in the photo). Then, in order to get a perfect match, I sponged on both edges of a strip of white cardstock that I matted the row of ducks on. Then, I stamped the letters for BABY in a green, added the word welcome on top and another one of those cute little ducks on the bottom. As you can see, I stamped 3 little ducks on envelope too.

The rest of the gift consisted of a larger onsie with the same ducks stamped on it too, a duck hooded towel, three duck face cloths, and a ducky tub toy! It looked great all packed up in a basket and wrapped up nicely!!
