Elegant Luck

One of my co-workers, Susan, is leaving so we needed a card to express our wishes! 

Susan is a very trendy and elegant gal so I had to create a card that would suit her style! 

This awesome flower/feather embellishment is from K&Co.  The sentiment and circle stamps are both Papertrey Ink.  The red paper in the back is from my scrap pile.  It is lovely paper - the red is all velvety.

The layout is from the KLSNS #36 challenge.

KLSNS Challenge #21 - Sketch

The latest challenge over on the KLSNS site is a sketch challenge so I wanted to play along!!

I recieved this lovely little Tilda image from a friend and since Kelly sells these wonderful stamps at her store, I decided to use her. I colored her in with Copic markers and adhered her to the mat. My biggest struggle was with the 3 embellishments in the corner (you'll note that I did a mirror image becuase of the way my Tilda was facing). I decided to take the flower, and use the leaves at the 2 smaller embellishments. I colored around the flowers edge with the copic to make it match better with the orange of my Tilda's sweater!

And see that ribbon. I have a whole bunch of it that I bought at a garage sale a few years ago for 25 cents! This was the first bit I've used ... really trying to stick to that New Year's resolution!!! And, all the paper used here (other than the card base) came from my scrap bin!! Yeah!!

Pop Can Leaf - Made with Love

Well, I was browsing around looking at some different challenges and realized that I could combine Kelly's challenge over at KL Stampin' N Scrappin where she wanted us to "Go Green" - use something you might have thrown away. I had an instant idea which I knew would work perfectly for the Saturday Spotlight challenge which was to "Mess Around" by distressing. I started out by pulling out my Ranger Distress Inks. Oh how I love them so!! But I find that I really need time to use them as I get so carried away. Creating one background leads to another and so on until I've created a dozen or so. (you'll be seeing all the others in the weeks to come LOL!!). Once I got the main background completed, then it was off to get green. I grabbed a pop can that was destined to be .... recycled... we don't just throw out our pop cans but I figure it still counts, right??!! I cleaned it out and then cut it until I had a flat silver surfact. Then I ran it through an embossing folder and punched out this devine little leaf! Love it!! I cut my circles, distressed everything a bit, sewed around the largest circle, distressed the main card base and then pulled the whole thing together! I certainly could have used my alcohol inks on these babies too...but I wanted this one to remain silver for today! Here is a close-up of the leaf. You'd never know that was a popcan!! Look at all that yummy metal in our homes just waiting to be used!! And you know that I was able to emboss and punch out a bunch of different shapes so you will also see those in the future!! Supplies: Fruitful, Background Basics: Text Style, Fancy Flourishes (all Papertrey Ink), Ink - Walnut Stain, Antique Linen, Peeled Paint, Broken China (all Ranger), Black; Paper - Kraft, White, green scrap (unknown); Other - pop can, Coluzzle, Fancy Corners embossing folder (Provo Craft), Leaves die (Provocraft), Cuttlebug (Provocraft), sewing machine, white thread, dimensional, sponges. Now I must go and see what everyone else did for both challenges!! MMmmmmm, what other 'throw aways' will everyone use, and will anyone else combine these challenges.... Have a great evening!! Enjoy Life - KLSNS Challenge #14

Over at KL Stampin N Scrapin the latest challenge is to use Nestabilities, Punches, or Dies. Well, that's an easy one for sure!! I reached into the container where I keep bits and pieces and found this Lable 1 Nestability that I had cut from a sheet of cardstock that had been "played" with!! Look at those yummy colors ... reds, greens, and blue and a watercolor masterpiece!

I knew that some silhouette flowers would look great on top of all those bright colors. I decided to make a small note card which measures 5" x 3 1/2". I took Kristina Werner's advice that black card bases can look "flat" so I added some background with clear embossing.

A ribbon, some dimensionals, and rounded corners and the card was complete.

Supplies: Stamps - Life, Giga Guide Lines (both Papertrey Ink); Paper - Basic Black, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Ink - Jet Black (Ranger), can't remember if the watercolored look is made with classic SU ink refills or alcohol inks by Ranger - it is on regular cardstock with makes me think it is refills; Other - Fresh Snow satin ribbon (Papertrey Ink), clear embossing powder (Stampin' Up!), corner chomper (We R Memory Keepers), Lables 1 Nestabilities (Spellbinders), dimensionals.

KLSNS Jan. Challenge - pink and black

(note: my clean and simple challenge card is posted just under this one -- I posted it late last night -- so make sure you scroll down to see it!!) The challenge over on KL Stampin N Scrapin is to use pink, black, and a neutral color. I couldn't resist!!!

I had made this striped background a while ago while I was trying to use up some scraps. I knew it would work perfectly. I colored in this image (sent to me by a friend) with my Prisma pencilcrayons and blended with some odorless thinner. With the addition of my Copics, I'd forgotten how much I enjoy doing this technique!!

You can see that I have added some Star Dust Stickles (Ranger) to her wings. They are so sparkly in real life!! For now I have left a sentiment off this card. I will add one just under her arm when I decide what I want it to say :o)

KLSNS Nov. Challenge - Snowflakes

Over at KL Stampin N Scrapin blog the November Challenge is Snowflakes!! It's times like this that make me wish I had a snowflake punch because Deb created an awesome snowflake tutorials with all kinds of awesome things to do with punched out snowflakes. But since I would only use snowflakes once a year I try not to buy one...however, someone should hint to my family that it would make a great present!!

Anyway, back to my card. Luckily for me, I still had 1 more of these blue metal snowflakes that I picked up at Michael's 2 years ago. I've been trying really hard to use up my supplies that I've been hoarding!! I took my snowflake and pressed it onto my Essential Glue pad. Then, I poured glitter all over it!! Yummy glittery goodness!! Next, I stamped large dots with white ink onto blue cardstock. I printed off some blue text from my computer and added a strip of that as well to a silver card base. I finished the card off with some blue twill, a button, some twine, and a small tag with my Christmas sentiment. Oh yeah, and 2 of the corners are rounded. All in all, I kinda like this card. Thanks to KLSNS for encouraging me to use up this snowflake!!
