smART Word Challenge March - Monochromatic

For the month of March, it was Dina's turn to pick the Word for the smART Word Challenge and her choice was - MONOCHROMATIC. I love monochromatic cards but rarely think to make them.
I was playing around with this new to me Noah's Ark (smARTworks) set trying to find something to do with it that was different than just coloring it in with my pencil crayons or watercoloring. I decided to see what it would look like in various shades of brown. I liked what I saw and realized that it would fit Dina's word!!
I added a brown scallop edge using my new Fisker's Treading Water edge punch ** love it ** and a bit of brown on the other side with some piercing along it. I added a simple sentiment taken from one of the larger sentiments in the Fun Stuff set (smARTworks).
So, what color are you going to pick for your MONOCHROMATIC card?? Remember, you can use whatever supplies you have on hand but if you do use smARTworks stamps you will earn a smART Buck!! Bonus!!!
Thanks for dropping in. I look forward to seeing your creation over on Mr. Linky!!

More smART Word GLITTER cards

When I picked the smART Word GLITTER for the month of February, I knew that it would be fun to make Valentine cards. Here are a few more cards I created this month.
This background is created with clear embossed hearts (Plant Love, smARTworks). The white heart is stamped with another petal from the Petal Power set (smARTworks), twice to make a heart. I added some Stardust Stickles (Ranger) for some bling. I also added a strip of double sided tape along the bottom and sprinkled some red glitter.
This next card is an ultra clean and simple card. I took this soft silver cardstock, cut it to a 3x3 card and cut a Lables 1 (Spellbinders) die from the card. Then, I stamped the striped petal from Petal Power set (smARTworks) and added pink and silver glitter to alternating strips. I cut it out and added it to the card with a dimensional.
This last card is made with yet another petal from the Petal Power set (smARTworks). This just happens to be one of my favorite petals with all this beautiful swirls in it!! I think it makes a great heart!! I added some more Stardust Stickles (Ranger) .... I love it, can you tell. I even added a bit more around the edge of the brown square. Isn't pink and brown a lovely color combo??!!!
SDo you love glitter as much as I do??!!! :o) Let see it on your GLITTER cards. Link it to Mr. Linky over on the smART Word Challenge.
Thanks for dropping in!

February smART Word Challenge - Glitter!!!

This month on the smART Word Challenge blog it is my turn to pick the Word. What did I pick...well, GLITTER, of course!! I picked glitter because it could be used for Valentine cards but if you were done all your valentine cards, or don't make any, you could always make a birthday or any other occasion card. Any card looks great with GLITTER, right!! I actually made a whole bunch of cards. You see, once I pull out the glitter, I like to make as many cards as possible!! Here are just 2 of the cards that I made. I'll post the rest later in the month!! Keep an eye out for them!!
This first card was lots of fun to make. I started out making the actual heart. I took one of the petals from the smARTworks Petal Power set. Then I colored them in with my red pencil color (Prisma) and blended with odorless thinner. Next, I took these awesome Grundgeboard (Ranger) wings and painted them white. When the paint was still wet, I sprinkled some dazzling diamond glitter (Stampin' Up!). Yum, yum, yum!! Then, I used some designer paper (BasicGrey) and adhered red glue strip around the edge and sprinkled on red glitter. I used the word 'love' from the Birdhouse Trio set (smARTworks).
This next card is actually the first card I created. I started out by stamping the largest outline petal from Petal Power (smARTworks) twice onto some scratch white paper. Then, I made a mask so I could stamp inside the heart. I took some flowers (FL18 - Shorties, smARTworks) and some words (Piggy Dreams) and randomly stamped them inside being sure the do some 'stamping off' for depth. Then I added some Stardust Stickles (Ranger) for that yummy glittery goodness. I also used the stripe and dot lines from the Petal Power set to create the strip that is adhered along the bottom. The small sentiment is from Lock and Key (smARTworks). Both the heart and the strip are distressed with Antique Linen (Ranger) distress ink.
So come and play along!! Pull out your glitter and create something fun. Link your card up to the Mr. Linky on the smART Word Challenge. Remember, you can use any products you have on hand but if you do use smART rubber on your entries you will earn a smART Buck ... very cool!!
See you over at the challenge.

smART Word Challenge Jan. - ICE

The word for the January smART Word Challenge is ICE!!! Wow, that one had me stumped for about a minute, but then I thought of these great Snowy Pines and knew they would look great along the side of a pond that is covered with ice!! (and aparently, so did Dina!!)
Obviously I did the reflection technique for this card. I also did some brayering and sponging for the background.
The sentiment is from the newest Cookie Plate #2 - Vintage Variety. It is an amazing set and can be purchased using smART Bucks (and one easy way to gather those is to play along with our smART Word challenges and use smART rubber!!).
Now it is your turn to play. How does the word ICE inspire you?? Grab your stamps and some paper and get creating!! Link up with Mr. Linky on the smART Word blog and you will have a chance to win!!
I hope that after this smART Word challenge is done so is the ICE!!!
Enjoy your day. Thanks for dropping in!

smART Word Challenge Dec. - Christmas

Note: this is my second post for the day - see my other post for Day 1 of my Christmas Card Reveal Countdown. So, this month over at the smART Word Challenge Blog it was Giovanna's turn to pick the "word". She picked CHRISTMAS of course!! That left things pretty open-ended!!
I decided to create some tags for my inspiration. I got this great postage frame stamp from smARTworks but decided that, while it would be cute to put around my postage stamps, it would also make a great image for a Christmas tag.
You see how you can put the 'to: and from:' in the middle!! And that is exactly what I plan to do.
Now, off to see what everyone else has created for the word CHRISTMAS over at the smART Word blog. Remember, you can play too. Just use the word CHRISTMAS as your inspiration (how easy is that!!) and then go to the site and link a post of your card or other creation on Mr. Linky. There are some pretty good prizes up for grabs!! and if you use smARTworks stamps on your project, you also get smART Bucks which you can cash in for some awesome rubber that you can't even buy!! How cool is that!!
See you over at the Word Blog! Oh yeah, and don't forget to check out my Christmas Card Reveal post - just scroll down to see it!!

Well it is that time again for the smART Word Challenge from smARTworks!! The single word that was choosen by Susan for this challenge was GRATITUDE. What a great word!! It makes me think of all the things that I have in my life! Some days I really think I am the luckiest person alive ~ no kidding!! If you pop over to the smART Word Challenge Blog you will see my card posted there. I love these shafts of wheat-like foilage from smARTworks and they remind me of harvest and thanksgiving and fall. I pulled them out and stamped them onto a piece of white cardstock. Then I decided to use my oval nestability to create a focal point. The sentiment was added and then I sponged around the oval. I adhered the oval focal point onto some brown and yellow papers. You definately need to share your GRATITUDE card. Just pop over to the challenge blog and load up your card on Mr. Linky. You are welcome to use whatever stamps you have that express GRATITUDE and you will be entered to win this stamp set. smART Word Challenge Oct. - FALL

If you've been following along on my blog you might have already heard that the smARTworks Design Team launched a new challenge blog called the smART Word Challenge blog. Each month there will be one word to be used as inspiration in creating. Once you have a card, just go to the original word post and link your card up with Mr. Linky! This month's word is "FALL" and here is my card. I started out by stamping these awesome leaves onto a piece of white cardstock. Then, using my newly purchased refills and an aqua painter I added various colors all over the page until I got the colors the way I liked them. Next, I stamped and cut out more leaves and colored them in with more colors. I then created my own text paper...it was easy, I just downloaded a bit of Wuthering Heights from an e-book, adjusted the text and color (brown) to what I wanted, and then printed it off. I adhered the leaves and tag with dimensionals. Finally, I adhered all this onto a Chocolate Chip card base and finished off the card with some home-made photo corners. I love all these colors in this card. Some of my favorite colors to use when creating!! You still have time to add your card in for the prizes that are up for grabs. Just create a card based on the smART Word FALL??? Why not??!! Get going !! We'd love to have you join us. For more details, check out the smART Word Challenge Blog. Hope you are having a great FALL (actually, we moved directly from Summer into Winter....as we have already had lots of snow!! sheesh!!). Supplies: Stamps - FL-26 (leaves), WD-54 (partial sentiment) (both from smARTworks); Paper - Chocolate Chip, Whisper White (Stampin Up!) home-made text paper; Ink - Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie (Stampin' Up!); Other - oval, scallop oval, and tag trio nestabilities (Spellbinders), aqua painter, printer, sponge, brown hemp, dimensionals. Thanks for dropping in. I'm off to see all the FALL entries. Donelda
