Make It Monday # 39 - Multi-Stamp Background

I love making my own backgrounds using stamps so I was excited to see Nichole's Make It Monday Challenge #39.  I wanted to do something different than flowers and leaves so I pulled out the set Fruitful.  I also decided to go with an unexpected color combo - Scarlet Jewel, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise and Spring Moss.

I created the senitment by combining a sentiment from Birthday Basics (it reads "Hope this day is as special as you are") and then adding the "Sweet and Juicy" using Simple Alphabet!  I like how the start of the sentiment is all neat and tidy but then the second part is lopsided and fun!!  LOL!!

Off to see what everyone else used for their background papers.

Thanks for dropping by.

Take 3 Challenge - Pumpkins - Take 1

Hello again and welcome back to another installment of one of my Take 3 Challenges.  This is where I use 1 stamp (or item) on 3 different cards, showcasing each on Mon, Tue, and Wed of the week.

Today's Take 1 card is a Halloween card, of course!  Happy Halloween!! Typically I'm not a real halloween card maker but this year I did create a few (3 to be exact) using this pumpkin from Craftsmart.

This panel started off white ... believe it or not!  Gotta love distress inks!!  And that soft ribbon is an oldie from Stampin' Up!  Loved it so much back then I bought 2 spools ... still love it and have decided I'd better start using it!!  LOL!!

Drop back in tomorrow to see a TOTALLY different card for my Take 2 card.  Can't wait till you see it!! All you clean and simple (CAS) gals out there, you are gonna loooove it!!!

Till tomorrow,

Take 3 Challenge - Color Challenge - Take 3

And finally ... here is my Take 3 card using this demask home-made paper and this awesome color combo.

I had spent many nights dreaming of this card ... the colors, the pop of red, the stripes, the demask, the shape.  Gotta love when a card turns out close to what you originally invision!  And this is an example of how you can use partial images/sentiments.  The strawberry actually comes from a house mouse image ... my favourite ... sleeping with strawberries.  I only used one of the berries, obviously.  The sentiments are also from bigger sentiments (both from Mixed Messages).  The "you're" is from the 'you're too kind' and the "Sweet" is from the 'Sweet baby' sentiment.

That was a FUN Take 3 Challenge.  I might have to do that again.  I know I will be using this colour combo again sometime soon!  Yummy!!

Hope you have a great rest of your week.

Take 3 Challenge - Color Challenge - Take 2

Welcome back!  Today I am sharing my 2nd Take on this challenge - using the same color combo and home-made demask patterned paper (trying to stay on top of my scraps since tossing everything a few weeks ago).

This card is just a mini card.  Oh how I love to create mini cards!!

This card is fairly clean and simple.  I adore the sentiment over the light leaf image (Turning a New Leaf, Papertrey Ink).

Now you MUST come back tomorrow, becuase like usual, I have saved the best for last!  My Take 3 card was acutally the one that started it all off .......

Take 3 Challenge - Color Challenge - Take 1

Welcome to one of my Take 3 Challenges.  If you don't know about them, a number of months ago I decided to make better use of my stamps when I have them pulled out.  So instead of simply making 1 card wtih an image and then putting it away, I decided to always make 3 cards and then post them on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  I have to tell you, this has become so much fun!!  If you are intersted in seeing my other Take 3 Challenges, you can always just click on the "Take 3" keyword and it will bring up all of my previous posts.

Today's Take 3 Challenge is a bit different.  This time, I started out making 1 card but then I decided that I really liked the color combo and wanted to use up the scraps ... and, hence, a Take 3 Challenge was born.  So, this week uses the same home-made demask patterned paper (Demask Designs, Papertrey Ink) as well as the same color combo.

Here is Take 1:

Arn't those colours gorgeous together??!!  See why I couldn't stop!
Make sure you drop back tomorrow to see Take 2 ... it is a mini card .. oh how I love to create mini cards!!

Take 3 Challenge - Butterflies - Take 3

Welcome back to the Take 3 card from this week's Take 3 Challenge using this Studio G butterfly image.  Today's card uses this great butterfly as a background image!  I think it turned out great!

And I love this color combo!  Yuuuuuummmmmy!!

Thanks for dropping by for this week's Take 3 Challenge.  If you decide to try your own Take 3 Challenge I'd love to check it out!  Make sure you leave me a note so I can drop by!

Make It Monday #31 - Backgrounds

I really like the Make It Monday video's over on Nichole Heady's blog but rarely have found the time to create and post in time.  (as I type there is a card sitting on my desk using the technique from last week's vidoe ... you'll see it someday!  LOL)

This week, Dawn McVey demonstrated using "non-background stamps" to create a background.  I love doing this so decided to play along.   The little acorn stamp I chose is from the Limitless Labels set - an old set that has not seen near enough use!!

I also used Autumn Abundance for the focal image and a mini sentiment from Mixed Messages.

Off to see what everyone else has done so far.

smARTworks Howdy Dotty Girl

I made this card using smARTworks' set called Fun Stuff. I had seen some designer paper that had these large dots in these colors and I loved it so I decided to make my own. I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges. Next I used white acrylic paint to add smaller dots to the Aqua Mist cardstock and matted it on some Pure Poppy. The girl was stamped and her dress paper pieced using some Pure Poppy Bitty Dots paper. The trim was colored with some Aqua Mist ink and a paint brush. Stamp - Fun Stuff (smARTworks) all other products are Papertrey Ink except sewing machine and thread of course!! Thanks for dropping in. I'm heading to bed for some much needed sleep. Donelda

KLSNS Nov. Challenge - Snowflakes

Over at KL Stampin N Scrapin blog the November Challenge is Snowflakes!! It's times like this that make me wish I had a snowflake punch because Deb created an awesome snowflake tutorials with all kinds of awesome things to do with punched out snowflakes. But since I would only use snowflakes once a year I try not to buy one...however, someone should hint to my family that it would make a great present!!
Anyway, back to my card. Luckily for me, I still had 1 more of these blue metal snowflakes that I picked up at Michael's 2 years ago. I've been trying really hard to use up my supplies that I've been hoarding!! I took my snowflake and pressed it onto my Essential Glue pad. Then, I poured glitter all over it!! Yummy glittery goodness!! Next, I stamped large dots with white ink onto blue cardstock. I printed off some blue text from my computer and added a strip of that as well to a silver card base. I finished the card off with some blue twill, a button, some twine, and a small tag with my Christmas sentiment. Oh yeah, and 2 of the corners are rounded. All in all, I kinda like this card. Thanks to KLSNS for encouraging me to use up this snowflake!! Supplies: Stamps - Polka Dot Basics, Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Enchanted Evening (Papertrey Ink), Whisper White craft (Stampin' Up!); Paper - silver (unknown), Enchanted Evening, Select White (Papertrey Ink); Other - metal snowflake (Michaels), Dazzling Diamonds (Stampin' Up!), Essentials Glue Pad (Tsukineo), button (Papertrey Ink), twill (Stampin' Up!), tag die (Provo Craft), corner rounder. This is one of 4 posts I've got on here today!! I have been very busy having fun with some challenges and can't wait to share them with you. Don't forget to add a comment to my blog candy give away (not here...go to the right post!). Have a great day!! Donelda
