My Buddy (scrapbooking)

Hello!  I have a new scrapbook page to share with you today!

This page came together for a challenge from 2 peas.  Dear Lizzy challenged us to use a painted ombre technique.  If ombre is new to you, it means "dark to light" and is very popular right now in the scrapbooking world.  I love it!

For my ombre, I pulled out my twinkling H2Os.  Love them.  I used watercolour paper and cut it into 4 strips.  Painted the colours being sure to make them dark at one end and light at the other.  This became the bottom portion of my layout.

Then I added my 3 black and white photos (isn't he the cutest!) and a whole bunch of black and white embellishments!  I really like that swirly flourish at the bottome - it is from the For the Record sticker sheet (Lilly Bee).

Why don't you give ombre a try?!  Either use one of the many products already out there with this effect (papers, stickers, tags, brads, etc.)... or create your own like I did!  If you do, I'd love to see it!  Leave me a link.

Thanks for dropping by,
Donelda

Chocolate Chips & Bacon (Scrapbooking)

Hello.  Using another one of Shimelle's sketches (sketch 5) as a starting poing in my scrapping.  This one was quite difficult for me and has taken me a while to finish.

As you can see, I stayed very true to the sketch.  I used this Basic Grey paper and because it is so busy (the browns) I decided to keep the rest fairly clean and simple.

The layout started with me making this ampersand. I love it!

I also have another layout ready to post and will do that next.
Have a great sunday fully of scrappy goodness!!

She Loves You (scrapbooking)

Hello and if you are returning, welcome back!

Today's layout is made for a challenge at 2peas - to use Christmas products on a non-Christmas page.  This was rather easy for me since I only own 1 Chrismas paper collection (Holly Jolly from My Minds Eye - a few years old) and had already pulled out the papers that could be used for everyday crafting!

So, this layout uses all papers and tags from the Christmas line.  I added in buttons from my stash, letter stickers (My Little Shoe Box) and rub on letters (American Crafts).  Also, I want to use my stamps as much as possible on my layouts so I pulled out Flourished (Papertrey Ink) and stamped it using Walnut Stain ink (Ranger).

A close up of the title.  You can also see where I sprinkled some Mister Huey's color mist (Dark Calico - Studio Calico) around the stamped images.

So that was a real fun challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.

Crafty Creations Challenge #179 - Tag Bear

Hi everyone!  This week the Crafty Creations Challenge #179 is to create a tag or use a tag on your card.  Well, I don't know about you but I adore these big, long ribbon tags that are so popular right now!!  And this one looks so sweet next to this lovely image from Meljens Designs, our sponser this week!!

I coloured the bear and berry with a combination of Copics and pencil crayons.  See that awesome baker's twine .. it is grey and white and compliments of a former Secret Sister (thanks Vickie - LoVE it!!).  I did a bunch of faux stitching on this card - seemed approrpriate due to the stitched bear :-)

Now off you go to upload your tag at Crafty Creations Challenge for your chance to be the winner!!
See you there.

Yike, this week's Crafty Creations Challenge #177 is a recipe challenge - those are HARD!!  The challenge is...
3 papers

1 sentiment

Well, I gave it a try and it turned out to not be too bad afterall!! Using papers from one collection is definately helpful .. here I used 3 pages from the Uncommon collection from Authentique (so beautiful!).  The flower is from Papertrey Ink's Rosie Posie (from a previous secret sister - thanks so much Vicky!) and the sentiment is from Gracious Vases (also Papertrey Ink).

Okay, now you need to head over to the Crafty Creations Challenges blog to see what the other design team members created and to be able to upload your creation for a chance to win!!!

See you there.

Crafty Creations Challenge #164 - Flocked Pussywillows says Spring

Hello and welcome back to another Crafty Creations Challenge.  This week Digital Delights us sponsoring out challenge.  Our challenge #164 is to celebrate spring with some green/buds/blossoms/grass.  I opted to go with buds ... Pussywillows to be precise.  This image from smARTworks is my favourite to pull out at this time of year!

The pussywillows are 'flocked' with white ... they are soft and fuzzy in real life.  Unfortunately hard to tell in this photo.  I also used my new Distress Stain in Tumbled Glass (Ranger) for the background.

Now you need to go visit Crafty Creations Challenge Blog to see what all the others did for this challenge.  Then link up your own card or project for your chance to win!!

Thank You ... Imke!

This card was created for 2 reasons ....
1) to use up these great letters that Imke sent me ... she is such a thoughtful friend (thanks Imke!!)
and 2) to use that increadible BasicGrey wooden button ... see it on the left?!  Amazing!!

I found this great paper at my local Dollar Store.  It is really neat.  Very soft, almost like cloth.
I can hardly believe I actually used one of those buttons  and didn't hoard the whole package ... just 5 more left .... what will I do with them??

Thanks for dropping by.

Home-made Rubber Stamps #7 - Flower and Stem

Okay, so today I am showcasing my favourite home-made stamps to date.  Yup, I hand carved that flower and that stem.  They are seperate images.  I could use them seperately or together like I've done here.

I had used Hibiscus Burst ink for the flowers ... and when I added the strip of Hibiscus Burst paper it was SO much brighter (probably because I am waiting - not so patiently - to purchase the new PTI ink as the old pads are getting dry).  So to fix the problem, I layered the pink cardstock with a bit of vellum punched with a scallop edge.

It's true, I am totally addicted to creating my own stamps.  It is nice to be able to create something I want without having to purchase it or wait for it.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend.

Runway Inspired Challenge #6 - Mosaic

So excited to be picked as a Fabulous Fashionista!! Thanks!!

Time for another Runway Inspired Challenge #6.  These are actually quite fun!  Here you see this great mosaic shirt and blue jean shorts (that's what I'll refer to them as..)

I focused on ... the colours, the mosaic, and the 'jean short' material...
and here is my card...

It took some time to cut all those little squares but I like the final result so it was worth it.  Hard to see but I stamped the Not Quite Navy panel with a Linen background using Versamark to give it that jean-like pattern.

Lots of fun I tell you!   Off to upload and see what everyone else did!  I didn't dare peek at the DT samples or I would be unduly influenced....

Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge #190 - Blue Black and White

Hi again!  Having lots of fun creating today!  This time I decided to play along with the Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge #190 - use the colours blue, black and white.  I haven't played along with these challenges yet but the design team had such great inspirtion!

I used one of my new sets from Penny Black called 'mimi in paris' and coloured her all in using Copic markers.  I used some of my new 1/4" silk ribbon again (Papertrey Ink) colouring half of it with the same colour of copic ink.  Love the look!

Hope you enjoy!

Embossing - Two Ways

So I was finally able to pull out some of my new toys that I received for my birthday and for Christmas.  I combined them with some old toys for a fun card.

New items used on this card: Half and Half die, and  Background Basics: Gingham (both Papertrey Ink)
Old favourites used: Martha Stewart butterfly punch, Labels 8 Nestabilities, Around and About Sentiments (Papertrey Ink)

Now, one part of the card you might not be able to see from the full card is the dry embossed butterflies on the half & half die cut.  Here is a close up:

I hand embossed them using a light board!  A bit of work but worth the effort as the effect is so subtle!!
And I was really focused on threes ... can you find them....

Thanks for dropping by.  I have LOTS of new toys to play with so you will be seeing new stuff from me as the weeks continue and I find time to actually play!

Take 3 Challenge - Snowflake - Take 1

This week's Take 3 Challenge is a double Take 3 Challenge.  It centers around the snowflake from an old Stampin' Up! set called All Through the Year.  It was one of those sets I just HAD to have ... but have rarely used.  A Take 3 Challenge is a good way to get it out and use it!  Incidently, all 3 cards in this Take 3 Challenge also use paper from the Holly Jolly paper pack from My Minds Eye (last year's paper).  It is a stunning collection of papers!!

And here is Take 1.  A fairly Clean and Simple card, showing off those prancing reindeer.  I love when I see crafters doing this tied off the edge ribbon technique but I rarely think to do it myself.

The frame is from Borders & Corners: Squares (Papertrey Ink) and the sentiment is from Take a Bough (also Papertrey Ink).

Another variation using this snowflake stamp tomorrow which means a few more Christmas cards have been made.

See you tomorrow.

BasicGrey Challenge - Chevron Stripes and Young Crafters Unite - Masculine

The Young Crafters Unite challenge is masculine - a style I like to try to do as often as possible because it is a challenge.  As well, the challenge on right now at Basicgrey is to use Chevron Stripes

I decided to mix these two challenges together.  Here is my card:

I created the chevron from using Prehistoric paper from Archaic collection (BasicGrey) .... a very old collection that I have saved for a loooong time for just the right time which was this one.

Thanks for dropping in!  Hope you enjoy.

Take 3 Challenge - Pumpkins - Take 1

Hello again and welcome back to another installment of one of my Take 3 Challenges.  This is where I use 1 stamp (or item) on 3 different cards, showcasing each on Mon, Tue, and Wed of the week.

Today's Take 1 card is a Halloween card, of course!  Happy Halloween!! Typically I'm not a real halloween card maker but this year I did create a few (3 to be exact) using this pumpkin from Craftsmart.

This panel started off white ... believe it or not!  Gotta love distress inks!!  And that soft ribbon is an oldie from Stampin' Up!  Loved it so much back then I bought 2 spools ... still love it and have decided I'd better start using it!!  LOL!!

Drop back in tomorrow to see a TOTALLY different card for my Take 2 card.  Can't wait till you see it!! All you clean and simple (CAS) gals out there, you are gonna loooove it!!!

Till tomorrow,

Take 3 Challenge - Foxy - Take 2

Hi and welcome back.   Today I bring you Take 2 using this great Imaginisce image ... I like to call him Foxy!  This time, I colored in the image with my Copics and added a bit of designer paper and buttons.

I adore giraffe's and foxes!  This guy is so cute with his shifty little eyes.  A bit different than my Take 1 card in that you can actually find him ... but still made using orange.  A fox has to be orange, right??!!  Well, maybe not.  To see, you will have to come back tomorrow and see my Take 3 card ... it is totally different from either of these cards.  Like usual, I've saved my favourite for last!!

See  you tomorrow.

Take 3 Challenge - Hero Arts Stem Blossom - Take 1

Welcome to another Take 3 Challenge.  If you are new to my blog, I have been giving myself challenges to make 3 different cards or ``takes`` using the same stamp.  Sometimes I do it with the same embellishment, layout, paper ... but my favorite are when I use the same stamp!

Today I am using the Long Stem Blossom stamp from Hero Arts.  My first take, Take 1, is what I like to call Clean and Simple Vintage!

Yummy soft and warm colors with a bit of lace, a button, and some crochet yarn!
Drop back by tomorrow to see Take 2 and a totally different look using this same stamp image!

Take 3 Challenge - Orange/Yellow Buttons - Take 3

Here is my Take 3 of my challenge of using my orange and yellow buttons.  This time I only used one lonely button on the card!!!  But it goes so well with that orange and yellow butterfly ribbon!!

and all created around my favorite butterfly stamp!!

Well, that is it for this week's Take 3 Challenge.  I will make sure to pick a stamp image for my next challenge!!

Thanks for droping by!!

Take 3 Challenge - Orange/Yellow Buttons - Take 2

So my first take on using the orange and yellow buttons used A LOT of the buttons.  This time, Take 2 I am only using 4 of the buttons - 2 large and 2 small!!

I love how the layered buttons mimic the sun.

How many buttons do you think might be on the last card, my third take?? You'll have to come back tomorrow and see .....

Take 3 Challenge - Orange/Yellow Buttons - Take 1

Here we are with another Take 3 Challenge.  This time, I decided to use a product and not a stamp.  I few weeks ago I found the cutes packages of buttons at my local Dollar Store.  And the packages were sold in colors.  I decided to use the buttons from the Yellow and Orange package.

Here is my First Take:

It was fun trying to get all those buttons in just the right place!!

Drop in tomorrow to see a different style of card for Take 2.
