So Damn Lucky (Scrapbook)

Another scrapbook page.  It is, obviously, about playing cards.  Love this background paper from Graphic 45.   Those are real little mini cards that I 'aged' by using alcohol inks.  Had to use those because the cards have that glossy coating.

 

 

All the suite shapes are stamped (small set from Studio g) and cut out.

Take 3 Challenge - Large Butterfly BEauty - Take 3

Hello and welcome back to the last day and my Take 3 card for this week's Take 3 Challenge.  Today my butterfly was stamped onto some yummy purple designer paper.  The gold glitter was part of the paper and ended up adding so much to this image.  Then, I added some distress ink sponging to intensify the colour!

Kept the rest of the card clean and simple so the butterfly would be sure to take center stage!

Take 3 Challenge - Large Butterfly Beauty - Take 2

Welcome back to the second day of my Take 3 Challenge.  I introduce to you my Take 2 card:

This time, I decided to try a monochromatic card ... in purple of all colours.  If you drop by at all you will know that I rarely use purple!  What an impact, that bright white butterfly on all that purple!!

Well, one more card to go for this week's Take 3 challenge.  Like always, I've saved my favourite for last.

CAS-ual Fridays #26 - sketch

I am really enjoying the CAS-ual Friday challenges and today is no exception!  This week there is a great sketch to inspire us. 

And here is my card.  I have had this idea swimming around in my head for a long time.

A close up of the polka dot background.  I used clear embossing powder for a subtle effect.  My goal was the dots would mimic the holes in the cheese.  So funny!

I did take some liberties with the sketch ... arn't sketches just a guide .. to inspire!!  I know the design team did an outstanding job with this sketch but now I think I'll go see what everyone else did with it.

Take 3 Challenge - Butterflies - Take 3

Welcome back to the Take 3 card from this week's Take 3 Challenge using this Studio G butterfly image.  Today's card uses this great butterfly as a background image!  I think it turned out great! 

And I love this color combo!  Yuuuuuummmmmy!!

Take 3 Challenge - Butterflies - Take 2

Welcome back to my Take 2 card using this great butterfly image from Studio g.  This time, I stamped it onto a piece of transparency and cut it out.  Before adhering, I colored the back side of the butterfly with a Copic marker B000.   

The background paper was spritzed with some Tattered Angel Glimmer Mists (a silver and a pink).  A strip of patterned paper and black cardstock as well as a simple sentiment and voila, a CAS card. 

Okay, that is 2 takes using this same image.  One left - Take 3 - and you won't believe what I did with this butterfly next!!!  Drop back tomorrow to check it out!

Take 3 Challenge - Butterflies - Take 1

Welcome to this week's Take 3 Challenge!  This week, I wanted to use this great butterfly image.  It is a Studio g butterfly that a friend of mine gave me! 

I had just watched the Papertrey Ink Make it Monday video on Free Style Copic Coloring.  I love how it turned out and will try that again with some other line images.

Bonus Fourth Take - Pig

Here is a bonus Fourth Take using this sweet pig image from Studio g. 

I have been seeing hexigons cropping up everywhere and decided I wanted to try something with them.  This was all experimenting.  He kinda looks like he is behind chicken wire .. LOL!!  Makes me laugh!  If only I had a chicken image.  The corragated cardboard was a laying around my house and I salvaged it!!  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and actually says "sending you sunshine and laughter" but I just inked up specific parts of it!

Take 3 - Pig - Third Take

So here is my Third Take card using this adorable pig!  I had so much fun making this card.  I realized that this pig would be very easy to cut out so I stamped him 3 times on some really really pink designer paper (BasicGrey).  Then, I stamped polka dots (Papertrey Ink) onto a section of the same designer paper using white chalk ink, and then stamped the pig on top of that.  Cut them all out, added some white paper piecing to the one pig and a sentiment by Hero Arts!  DH and DS thought this one was cute!!

Well, normally that would be it for my Take 3 Challenge.  However, this week, I have a fourth card.  I just couldn't stop stamping with this cute little piggy!!  So, drop back in tomorrow to see a bonus Fourth Take card.

Take 3 - Pig - Second Take

Here is my Second Take using this adorable pig stamp from Studio g.  This time, I decided to make him stand out against a brilliant background.  

I used my Copic markers to create that rainbow behind him and then colored him in grey.  I added a small dark grey border around the die.  I also took the same grey as the pig to color a strip of white cardstock and then added the sentiment (from Hero Arts).  A great Clean and Simple (CAS) card that could be used for many occasions.

Just one more take, my Third Take, to showcase tomorrow so make sure you drop back in and check it out!  Just like usual, I've saved my favorite for last!!

Take 3 - Pig - First Take

This week I bring you another Take 3 Challenge.  This time I am using this adorable pig image from Studio g that I picked up at Michaels.  I just couldn't resist him!  He is so cute!!

So, I kept things pretty typical with this take - pink pig and all!!  I added the sentiment which comes from an old SU! set (one of those sets you got for free when you spent so much $$ during a specific month).  The ribbon started out as pink but I added the strips of black.  And there is another one of my home-made Half & Half dies (like the ones from Papertrey Ink but home made!). 

You will need to return to see what else I did with this cute little fellow tomorrow for my Second Take card.

Take 3 - Week of July 4 - part 3

And welcome back to see Take 3 of this week's challenge. 

Today's card is a different layout!  I love that plaid background paper (from October Afternoon) and think it works well with this particular image.  This would be a great card for a little boy celebrating his special day!

Take 3 - Week of July 4 - part 2

Here is Take 2 in this week's Take 3 challenge.  This time, I used the train in conjunction with a sentiments from a Papertrey Ink set (the 2nd year anniversary set).  And, no, that middle train car image does not come in the Studio G set .. I drew it around the sentiment!  I think it turned out really cute!! 

This particular layout seems to be cropping up a lot!!  I need to change it up a bit!

Take 3 - Week of July 4 - part 1

This week's Take 3 uses a cute little train set of images from another Studio G set I picked up at Michael's a few months ago.  While these stamps are not the greatest quality, they still work and they have been coming out with some cuter images these days.  Besides, you just can't go wrong for the price!! 

Today's card:

Some bright oranges and blues with some coordinating designer paper.

I think sticking to one color for a repeated ballon image makes this card a bit more grown up.  And of course blue is a universal color for sure!!

Take 3 - Week of June 13 part 2

Hello again. 

Here is my "Second Take" using this great hot air balloon from Studio G.  This time I decided to keep each balloon one main color but included many various colors to a randomly stamped background.  I think this card would make any little kid smile!! 

Just one more card with this balloon tomorrow and it is a bit more grown up.

Take 3 - Week of June 13 part 1

Hello everyone.  Some of you might have read my blog post HERE where I talk about Susan R's idea of making multiple cards from the same image.  I love the idea and am planning on borrowing it for a while.  It just makes sense.

Over the summer months I am planning on posting various "Take 3" cards.  Each week I will post one card on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday showcasing one stamp (or perhaps one embellishment).  I think it will be lots of fun.  I know I have already had fun today as I got this weeks cards ready!!   By having them posted earlier in the week that still gives me a few days to post individual cards that I might have created over the week but not interrupt the flow of the Take 3. 

Thw image that is being showcased this week is a hot air balloon that comes from a $1.50 set (G Studio) that I picked up at Michaels a few months ago.  It is so adorable and, of course, easily adjusted to make 3 different cards because hot air balloons can come in many different colors! 

Here is today's card:

This image was stamped and then colored with some bold Copic colors.  Then, I took a strip of white cardstock and using the same colors crated a great embellishment.  The cardbase is Soft Sky from Stampin' Up!

I can't wait to show you tomorrow's card.  It is so different from this one.  See you then!

Admin. Assistant Thank You!

Our admin assistant, Jenny, is a sweetie and enjoys scrapbooking so I decided to make her a little package of things she might use around the office.

A long and thin note pad for the many lists of things to be done, one of those cool pop-up sticky note holders (I got it from staples - really cool, it kinda sticks to the desk with a rubber circle!) and 3 megnetic clips (I also found at staples and knew they'd come in handy some day and they are perfect for altering!!! Check them out!).

I know that Jenny likes bright colors so I decided to create the ensemble using this funky and colorful paper from an older Provo Craft pack. The colors match better in real life. The sentiment "a little note" was perfect and was in one of the little packages of clear Studio G stamps that you can get at Michael's for $1.50 (hey, how come we are still paying &1.50 for this stuff????) as were the 3 different flowers that I used throughout (they came from 3 different sets).

When I packaged it all up, I added a small 3x3 card that matches the long note pad. I hope she can put some of this stuff to good use.

Boys will be Boys

My little nephew's birthday is coming up so I wanted to make him a boy card. I never have enough boy cards around.... tons of pretty cards with flowers and ribbon, but no good boy cards just laying around. I have also begged Nicole Heady from Papertrey Ink stamps to come up with an awesome boy/male set for either big boys or little boys... it wouldn't matter, it is just necessary. If you haven't checked out her stamps yet, you HAVE TO!!

Back to my project for the night. I decided to use this little boy which is part of this stamp from me and my BIG ideas. As you can see, I just wanted to use one of the boys! I like to try to make my stamps as versitile as possible, so finding ways to use only a portion of a stamp is something I love to do!!

One of my goals for this card was to make my own background paper. I started out using one of the circles from the Fun With Shapes (SU) set even though it comes in a row of three circles. I just carefully inked up the end circle with the edge of the River Rock ink pad and stamped it over and over to get the circles on the background. Then, using the "boy" set from studio g (you know, those clear stamps you can find at Michael's) I cut off the little car (from the bigger stamp of a car, boat, and airplane) and stamped it in the middle of each circle using black ink. This was all done on a sheet of River Rock cardstock. Voila, background paper for my card. And, perfect for a little boy!

Next, I decided to go with Roxie's Sketch Challenge for this week SC #146 as it was going to work well with the stamped image of my little boy!! I added some Always Artichoke and see that strip of green across the middle, it was just a piece of scrap designer paper that I had left over from a scrapbook page done over a year ago. Unfortunately, that means I have no idea what company it is from, but it is a shade darker than the River Rock color and pulls it and the artichoke together perfectly!!

You'll notice that the little boy is wearing jean shorts and a light blue t-shirt. Well, they are pieced from scrap paper as well! Doing that is just so much fun!!
