Watercolored Distress Inks

Wow, look at the colors on this background.  I created it by adding a bunch of different distress inks to a background stamp (Anna Griffin) and then spritzing it with water!  Awesome effect!

Didn't need to do much to the card becuase I didn't want to cover up all that awesome colour!

Inspiration from Paper Crafts Magazine - Day 2 - Christmas

Welcome back!

Today it is Lindsey's turn to pick a card for inspriation from the Sept/Oct issue of Paper Crafts magazine.  Her choice was the very versatile card by Ellie Augustin on page 46 called Brew Some Fun Card.  Wow, what a great layout to work with!! 

I was so inspired I made 2 cards - one that followed the sketch very closely and another that followed it very loosly.  For both, I focused on the general layout.

I adore this Anna Griffin designer paper. And this little sprig of holly is probaby my most used Christmas stamp (if you can believe that or not!!)

This card is a much looser take on the layout.  The designer paper and die cuts are from the Holly Jolly paper pack from My Minds Eye (out last year).

Paper Doily #3 and Color Combo Challenge

So these paper doilies (labeled tags by Martha Stewart and found at Michaels) has totally re-inspired me and my mojo is working overtime!!!

This time I combined using one with the new Color Combos Galore Challenge #144. The colors are so yummy!!!

I also realized that I didn't have to always use white doilies but I could change them to any color I wanted by sponging on my desired color! That is exactly what I did here and I can't wait to try some other colors.

This card actually has me perplexed. I like it and yet I don't. I think it is because the base of the card is soft and elegant while the blues and pinks are quite bright so I think the looks contrast too much. Maybe if I had changed up the combination of colors on my doily it would have blended in better with the card base. My attempts to 'connect' the 2 elements was to do some distressing on all items by sponging some Antique Linen and then some Chocolate Chip. Maybe I should have given it dimensional but I didn't because the ribbon and button was doing a good job of that.

What do you think??? I'd love your input!! Have you run out to get some of these doilies yet??? I hear from Christine Middlecamp (who has started a project with them that has totally inspired me) that they are hard to find.

Oh yeah, and when I was sponging on the turquoise color, I saw that it was leaving a beautiful mask on the scratch paper on my desk so I quickly slipped a piece of what cardstock underneath it and was able to create this card with it!! I don't have a whole sheet of tempting turquoise cardstock left so I sponged around the edge of a white card to create a card base. Card Set - Clean and Simple Style

So I was enjoying THIS post from Lucy's Blog so much that I decided to create my own set. I had to use different stamps, of course, but I like the results. Very clean and simple but colorful for sure!! If you haven't been over to Lucy's Blog yet, you must...I love everything she does (as you can tell)!!

Card Positioning Systme #76

In the middle of the night....I thought of THIS!! I've been so into Inchies lately (I have a bunch of other cards that you will see soon enough!) all thanks to Cameldiva (Hi Diane~~). Then I saw the CPS Sketch #76 and figured I could combine my late night inspiration with the challenge.

As you can see it is clearly a Clean and Simple design!

I started out by stamping my Anna Griffin background stamp on the 6 different colors of cardstock using black ink and punched them out using a 1" square punch. Then, I used my white gel pen to color parts of the swirls. I sponged each of the squares with black ink and a dauber and used dimensionals to adhear them to a white mat. Added a small black mat and then adheared them to a 5" x 7" white card base (my most favorite card size to make!). Then, I wanted to add something to the edge as the sketch suggested so I used my Fiskars scissors and cut a fancy edge. To make it pop, I attached a layer of black cardstock on the back of the front side of the card.

No sentiment, I will add it inside the card! I hope you like my Inchie CPS card. I love making cards with multiple colors like this! You should give it a try!!

Last of the Valentines

Again, sorry everyone

that I've been slack on posting, thought I was better but my body was just tricking me for the day....

Here are some more Valentine cards I made. Did them for Jen's Limited Supply challenge where she wanted us to use background stamps and limit the rest!! Well, I have this beautiful Anna Griffin background stamp but I rarely ever think to pull it out.

I decided to do some lavender based valentine cards!!
