smARTworks Tea Party - Salted Background

Happy Canada Day!! Here we are sitting in Ottawa, Canada to celebrate Canada's birthday! But before we go eat cake, I wanted to make sure I got this tea party card up for you all to see. Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians!! So it was my turn to pick a challenge for this week's tea party and I decided to go with something really fun....salted backgrounds. I love the effect you get when you add salt to a wet background and you can use it as is (a full background) or you can use a piece of that background in some interesting way. So, I made a number of different backgrounds. I picked my favorite of all the backgrounds and created this card. Those reds, blues, and greens are so intense and the salt made the best designs on it. I also included a second technique on this card as well. I wanted to copy my red and green plaid bow that was watercolored on my teapot. So, I used THIS technique by Gina K. and created a plaid "ribbon" to add to my card.
Now off to see what all the other Design Team members created with their salted backgrounds:
Supplies: Stamps- ABC Teapot Trio (smARTworks), sentiment is from Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Ruby Red, Night of Navy, Olive Green (Stampin' Up!); Paper - Whisper White, Night of Navy (Stampin' Up!); Other - Labels 1 Nestability Die (Nestabilities), white gel pen (Signo).
So, did you make a card using a salted background?? If so, we would love to see it!! leave us a link on one of our blogs so we can check it out!!
Thanks for dropping in!!

smARTworks Tea Party - Sketch

For this Tea Party, it was Dina's turn to decide what the challenge would be. She picked this pretty interesting image as a sketch challenge. She found it on one of those freebie calendars. She's not quite sure why it was on the beautiful scenic calendar but figured it would be a neat sketch for a card. I can't agree more. I actually made 2 cards for this challenge. I wasn't particularly happy with my first attemps (It is always frustrating when what you see in your mind doesn't transpire into the paper at your fingertips) so I just made a second. I'll post both if for no other reason than it took me forever to get the first one made!! I'll start with my second attempt since I think it is a much nicer card. I started out with this wonderful pot of tulips. I think of all the smARTwork images I have, this might just be one of my very favorites!! I colored them in with Copic markers (RV11 Pink, YG03 Yellow Green, and YG95 Pale Olive). I don't have a good Copic brown so I used my Creamy Caramel Stampin' Up! marker to color the pot. Then, I used my Cool Grey 20% Prismacolor marker to add a shadow below the pot. With all that finished, I just had to add a sentiment and finish off the card with some designer paper, a few buttons, and some green hemp cord. Dina was right, a great layout!! My next card was a great idea in my head, but like I said, didn't turn out quite like I was hoping. Maybe I'll give it another shot!! So, this card was inspired by that solid red circle on the sketch. I thought it would be cool if it were a tab card where you pulled a flower or something up to reveal the inside tab where you would write your greeting or message. Then I saw this great growing heart set and thought that would be cute!! So, I started by making the outside pocket, cutting the half circle using my coluzzle. Then, I carefully positioned the heart flower so that only the flower itself would be sticking up. It is, esentially, what you pull to get to the rest of the card. The rest is pretty straight forward. Supplies: A friendly Hello: Stamps: Spring #1, WD-60 (smARTworks); ink - Brilliance Graphite Black (Tsukineko); Paper - Whisper White (Stampin' Up!), 3 sheets of designer paper from Me and My Big Ideas pad sold at Michaels'; Other - White buttons (Hero Arts), Copic Markers, Stampin' uP marker, Prismacolor marker, hemp cord (Fashion Naturals), 1 1/4" and 1/4" circle punches, coluzzle, corner rounder. Heart Flower: Stamps: Plant Love, WD 183 - Great B-day (smARTworks), ink- Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up!), Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink); Paper - red, blue (paper stash), Kraft (Stampin' Up!); Ohter - coluzzle, copic markers, brown marker, white gel pen (Signo). Now off to see what all the other smARTwork Cookies have created. I can't wait to see: Dina, Susan, Donna, Giovana, Trish Did you make a card too?? If you did, just make sure you leave one of us a comment and I'll edit a link to your card on my blog!!! Thanks for joining our tea party! Donelda

smARTworks Tea Party #20 - Sketch

So Dina picked this ever so interesting visual as inspiration for a sketch. She found it, strangly, on a calendar amongst a beautiful picture of a bonsai tree. It is possibly related to the eye clinic as the calendar was one of those freebies from there....go figure. (ETA - I think it might be a large letter M as the eye clinic is Murni Optical... just a thought).
Regardless, I agree, it is a very interesting sketch layout for a card. I hope you will all join us next Wed. when the Design Team members show off what they did with it! And we'd love to have you play along too!!

smARTworks Tea Party - No White

So this time it was Trish who gave us a challenge for the 19th smARTworks Tea Party. And what a challenge it was...for me at least!! She limited us and would not let us use white!! Is she kidding, I mean, I use white all the time on my cards!! But I was determined to give it a go!! In the end, I like my Clean and Simple card. I started out with a card base of Kraft cardstock. Then I repeatedly stamped some leaves from the Petal Power stamp set along the bottom using Chocolate Chip ink. Next, I decided to add some color by using my Copic markers. Well, YG03 Yellow Green, to be precise. I colored over one end of the leaves to create some shading....I like!! Next, I punched out the butterfly with a Martha Stewart punch and colored it in with the same marker. I added the dots with more chocolate ink and a dot taken from the same stamp set. I finished off the card with a simple sentiment and a dotted line where the butterfly has been fluttering!! So now maybe I'm convinced that you can actually make a card without using white...as long as you can use some Kraft cardstock!!
Now you have to go see the other smARTwork Cookies to see what they have created!
And make sure you add a comment with a link if you have played along! I can't wait to see what you have created!!
Thanks for dropping in for tea!!

smARTworks Tea Party - inspiration cup

Susan picked an inspiration piece for us to use for this Tea Party (see the picture a few entries ago!). I loved the soft look of the cup and knew I wanted to make a vellum card. I've never made a vellum card so I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I like the results.
I started out making a card base out of vellum. Then, I stamped the flowers in blue and the stems and leaves in green right onto the vellum. I added the sentiment in the same green and a few lines along the top and bottom. Next, I added a simple piece of white cardstock underneath the stamping and one on the inside of the card where you could write a message.
A simple card but I think it is a great piece based on the inspiration photo.
Now you have to go see all the other Cookies to see what they created based on the same inspiration piece (see the links along the right of my blog). Did you create something based on this inspiration piece?? if so, leave a comment and a link so we can see it!!
Hey look Sarosa played along with us!! I love this girl, not only did she also use vellum on her card but she has the same blog layout that I have!! Two great minds.....??!! :-)
My computer is still "out of order". I will hopefully be up and running again soon. Sorry for the limited blog posts!!! Keep your fingers crossed that I will be able to recover some of what was on my computer!!

smARTworks Tea Party #15 - Yellow Burst

So it was Peggy's turn to provide us with a challenge for today's smARTworks Tea Party!! She was inspired by the warm weather and decided to pick yellow!! That's right, we were to make a card featuring the color yellow. Now, I love the bright yellow sun, and daffodils are my favorite flowers but I don't typically use that much yellow in my crafting. But I've had this sun burst idea in my head for a few weeks now...and I figured this would be a great time to try it out!!
I created the "burst" by sponging Summer Sun ink onto a piece of white cardstock. Then, using some Post It Notes, I left strips and added a light amount of Groovy Guava ink. It was easy and fun. Then, I stamped this bird and branch image on a piece of scrap white and colored it with a mix of my Copic markers and Prismacolor pencil crayons. I then cut around the top portion of the bird and branch and adhered it to my burst. And check out that sentiment....I love that it is curved like that!! It is from a relatively newer smARTworks stamp set called Swirly-gigs. I finished the card off with a piece of Lemon Tart twill and a guava card base.
Now, off to see what all the other design team members created:
Dina, Susan, Trish, Donna, Giovana, Sarah and Peggy (both on Susan's blog)
and look at THIS, seamom played along with us too!!!
So now it is your turn...share your 'yellow' card with us!! Just leave a comment on any of our blogs with a link to your card. If you upload to a public gallery, use SCTP 17 so we can find your card!! You don't have to use smARTwork stamps unless you are lucky enough to own a few!! Come and have some fun with us :-)
Supplies: Stamps-Spring #1, Swirly-gigs (smARTworks); Ink - Summer Sun, Groovy Guava (Stampin' Up!), Brilliance Graphite Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Whisper White, Groovy Guava (Stampin' Up!); Other - YG03 Yellow Green and Y13 Lemon Yellow markers (Copic), Lemon Tart twill (Papertrey Ink), pencil crayons (Prismacolor), Post It Notes, sponge.
I hope you all have a bright and yellow day!! Thanks for stopping in today!!

smARTworks Tea Party Announcement - Yellow

Well, it is Peggy's turn to pick the smARTworks Tea Party challenge and she has been totally inspired by the 70 degree weather (I'm guessing that is hot...we use Celcius here in Canada LOL) and the daffidols that are popping up everywhere that she lives (she is obviously not getting all the snow that we are around here!!). So, she has decided to challenge everyone to use YELLOW!!! Specifically, she said that the central image should be yellow....well, I can do that!! And I am hoping that making a yellow card might make it a little more sunny around here! The Design Team will be uploading all of our cards next Wednesday....so come and join us is all the gloriously yellow fun!! You don't have to use smARTwork stamps, you just have to have some fun. Just create your card and leave a comment on one of our blogs! Enjoy your day! Donelda

smARTworks Tea Party #15 - Shaped Card

Giovana picked a fun challenge for the tea party this time. She wanted us to create a shaped card. I've had this template for a butterfly for some time with plans to create with it....and Giovana gave me the perfect opportunity!
I started out by printing off the butterfly onto computer paper so that it would fit a standard size envelope. Then, I adheared the template onto a folded piece of vanilla cardstock. After cutting the butterfly out, I stamped various flower images onto it with blue ink. I made sure to do some stamping off so that there would be lots of dimension. Then, I stamped the sentiment in brown and a butterfly in yellow. I re-stamped the butterfly onto a piece of scrap paper and cut it out. This was done so I could add the rub ons to just the butterfly but didn't need to try to cut out the antenna - since when I adheared the second butterfly onto the card in the same spot, the bottom antenna were in just the right place !! Finally, I added some piercing around the butterfly and then used a brown marker to create some faux stitching. I finished the card off by lightly sponging on some antique linen.
Now, off to see what shapes the other Design Team members created:
REmember, Susan is on holidays this week so ... "In exchange for the possiblity of slower order processing, smARTworks will be offering FREE SHIPPING on all US orders ($15 or greater) placed April 20 - 24." What a geat opportunity...you can't possibly pass it up!!
Supplies: Stamps-Cookie Plate, Standing Tall (smARTworks); Ink - Ocean Tides, Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink), Chocolate chip (Stampin' Up!), Antique Linen (Ranger); Paper - Very Vanilla (Stampin' Up!); Other - paper piercer, brown marker (Stampin' Up!), distress ink aplicator tool (Ranger).

Thanks for dropping in!!

Late smARTworks party card and next tea party invite

Well, being on holidays has gotten me all confused!! I was a week late and figured that Donna's tea party wasn't until NEXT Wednesday...but it was actually yesterday!! Drat becasue I had a creation all ready to go and missed it!!
Donna had asked us to create scraplings! Well, if you follow my blog at all you will know that I LOVE scrapling cards. Seems like they are all I make these days.
So, here is my scrapling. I instantly thought of these great domino designs and knew they would fit perfectly on a scrapling card. The background is glossy cardstock with blue, green, and brown alcohol inks sponged on. The sentiment is from the Cookie Plate set and is embossed in white. And, everything here are scraps from my scrap bin! I bet I could make a million creations and still have leftover scraps!! Sheesh!! :D
Okay and here are all the great creations from all the other Cookies:
Okay, and now for the NEXT smARTworks tea party!! This time it is Giovana who is hosting the party and she wants us to try shaped card. She is being so kind and has indicated that we can count square, circle, or triangles as shapes...but I have something so much more exciting!!! We'll all be posting April 22 (ETA - note date change!!)....so come and have some tea with us!! I can't wait to see what shape you all create!!
Supplies: Stamps-Domino Designs, Cookie Plate (smARTworks); Ink-Versamark; Paper - Whisper White, Basic Black, Glossy cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Other - white embossing powder, alcohol inks (Ranger).

smARTworks Tea Party #14

Well, it was my turn to pick the theme for the smARTworks Tea Party this week. Since I have been making a ton of inchies for the inchie swap I am in, I decided to go with the inchie theme.
Inchies are so much fun! It is amazing what you can do with a 1"x 1" square of cardstock. I love using inchies on cards, as you could tell by all the samples I added to the announcement post.
Here, I stamped this great butterfly in different colors. Then, I strategically cut them out using my 1" square punch. Off-centering the butterflies makes for great creative opportunities. I added a black mat using a 1 1/4" square punch and some rhinstones to the wings. Next, I used this smARTworks background stamp by adding small spots of the colors that I used for the butterflies. I cut this down and then used one of the colors to make a matching mat. I added the sentiment and put all of this onto a white card base. Because it was so much fun, I decided to make a second card. I started out with the same butterflies but this time changed the layout. I added a sentiment square and put all of this onto a piece of white cardstock. I added some black cording to the bottom and then did some tearing. I rarely think to do tearing on my card, even though I think it adds a lot of character and dimension.
Finally, I added some black silhouette flowers (edited to add - this flower stamp is also from the smARTworks Cookie Plate set - sorry I forgot to add that information earlier -- you can not buy this set but can earn it with smART Bucks -- go HERE to read more about that) onto the white card base and attached the focal image with dimensions.
Now to see what all the other cookies did with this challenge:
And now it is your turn to share what you did with this challenge. Just leave a comment to any of the design team's blogs, like here :-), with a link to your creation. I can't wait to see what you did with your inchies!!
It's another double post day because I'll be participating in the Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop later tonight....so be sure to come back and see the backgrounds I made!!!!
Thanks for dropping in,

smARTworks Tea Party invite

It is my turn to come up with the next smARTworks Tea Party Challenge. Picking a challenge is always so difficult because I have so many ideas running around in my crafty head that I can never decide what to pick. However, this time it was a bit easier. You see, I am involved in an inchie swap so I've been creating inchies like crazy. I love inchies! The size really stretches me creatively. So, my challenge is to use inchies on your card. That is, use at least one 1" x 1" piece of cardstock on your card.
Here are some cards that I have done in the past to help you with some inspiration!! Click on the links for various past blog entries. And here is one picture of a card where I used one large image to create 3 diferent inches to add to my card.
I hope this gives you lots of inspiration!! Please play with us!! You don't have to use smARTwork stamps. But, if you have them, use them!! The Design Team will be uploading their cards on Wednesday March 25th. You should join us by leaving a comment and a link to your card!!
Thanks for dropping in!

smARTworks Tea Party #13 - Case a Cookie

So this time Dina came up with a great idea for our tea party - to look to the design team members for inspiration and 'Case' (which stands for 'copy and share everything') one of their cards changing at least 2 of the elements. My mission was to browse through Donna's blog which gave me lots of inspiration...so much that I couldn't just make one card. I had to make 2!!
So, my first card found it's inspiration from THIS card by Donna. When I saw it weeks ago, I knew I wanted to case it way back then, so this was an easy choice. One of the reasons I wanted to do the case is because I have so much blue scrap paper that I knew it would be a great way to use some of it up! The card is pretty straight forward. The squares are all 1 1/4". I used only part of the sentiment from Daisy Square. The butterflies are colored using my new Copic markers. I am starting to "get the hang" of these markers and how they work, but still need tons of practice. Obviously I changed the color combo, the stamped images (I don't have those cute little frogs), and the sentiment, of course.
Supplies: Stamps - Small Trio, Daisy Square (smARTworks); Ink - Brillance Graphic Black (Archival); Paper-Whisper White, So Saffron (Stampin' Up!), various scrap designer paper; Other - Copic markers, rectangle and scallop rectangle nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provocraft), dimensionals, black marker. And here is my second second card based on THIS card by Donna. I loved the plaid paper behind the focal image on Donna's card so that is where I started. I'm not sure if Donna's paper was designer paper or if she made it. But regardless, I decided to make my own plaid paper using my Copic markers. This time I remembered to note the colors I used. They include YG03 (Yellow Green), YR04 (Chrome Orange), B14 (Light Blue). I also used a black marker in there and, I've got to say, I really like how it turned out!! I might have to try that again!! And then, there is Susan's suggestion that the HUGE butterfly from the set Bliss should be used with shrink plastic. I had to try it and she is so right, it is the perfect size for a shrinked
butterfly!! I colored it in with my Prisma
Pencilcolor crayons. The rest is pretty straight forward. My changes from Donna's card: Different stamped image (again, I don't own that cute froggy!), I changed the background and went with a more solid color with just some versamark images stamped on there, and I don't have Labels 1 so I used a Lables 2 die under the butterfly.
Supplies: Stamps-Bliss, WD-60 {sentiment}, Cookie Plate {little butterflies on backgroud} (all smARTworks); Ink - Basic Black (Stampin' Up!), Versamark; Paper - Whisper White, Certainly Celery (Stampin' Up!), scrap blue designer paper; Other - shrink plastic, Lable 2 nestability (Spellbinders), alcohol ink markers (Copic), spring moss twill (Papertrey Ink), black marker (Stampin' Up!), black brads (Making Memories) Pencilcolor crayons (Prisma).
So, now it is time to go check out and see what the other Cookies have done with thier cases!!
Susan, Dina, Giovana, Donna, Peggy (on Susan's blog), Sarah (on Susan's blog). And we had Michelle play with us this week too!! What fun. she made 3 cards. You can see them if you click on the comments and copy and paste her links into your browser. Thanks for dropping in for tea Michelle!!
Now it is your turn....show us what you cased!! Just leave a comment with a link to your card so we can all see your fun case!!
Thanks for dropping in for tea today!!

smARTworks Tea Party #12 - sketch plus metal

It was Trish's time to host the smARTworks tea party this time and she gave us a great challenge. She provided us with this awesome sketch to follow.... but that was not enough. She challenged us even more by insisting that we also use metal of some sort on our cards!! Wow, that is a challenge for me. But I like it!!
I started out making the main panel by using this awesome wheat shaft with some chalk inks and embossing with clear embossing powder. Then, I used my pastels and colored the top portion with a blue and the bottom with a mossy green. Once that was finished, I added the 'metal' dragonfly brad and a sentiment. Finally, I added the ribbon and some of my many scraps along the bottom and attached the focal panel using dimensionals.
I've had these dragonflies for about 2 years ... and haven't used one yet..until now!! Thanks for the encouragement Trish!!
Now, off to see what the other Cookies have created for the tea party.
Now it is your time to play. Make a card using any stamps that follows the sketch and uses something metal. Then, leave a comment on any of our blogs and we'll share!! Come and have a little tea :D
Supplies: Stamps-FL-17 Wheat Shaft (smARTworks), Garden of Life (Papertrey Ink); Paper-Kraft, White (Stampin' Up!), designer paper (from my scrap bin); Ink-Yellow Ochre (Color Box chalk inks), Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up!)' Other-chalk pastels (Stampin' Up!), metal dragonfly (unknown-I've had them way too long), corner rounder, clear embossing powder, ribbon (Michaels).
Thanks for dropping in.

smARTworks Tea Party #11 - Monochromatic Blues

Welcome to the smARTworks Tea Party!! This time Susan
was the one to set the challenge and something had inspired her to go with a monochromatic scheme!! I can't wait to drop into her blog to see what she's been up to!
For me, I decided to go with blues! You see, I have so much scrap in my craft room that I am really challenging myself to use up as much of it as I can. And since I have about 3 times more blue than anything else, I am trying to make blue cards!! :D
Every once in a while I like to make really Clean and Simple cards!! No frill, no splashy stuff, just good old stamps and paper!!
This is one of those cards. But I did use the faux watercolor technique. It is one of my favs!! You simple color the rubber image and then mist it with water and stamp onto cardstock. I like to use watercolor paper because the image is very intereting as it dries!! I used one of the many silhouettes in Susan's Cookie Plate and colored it using a blue marker. Once it was dried, I added a bit of blue stickles which you can kind of see in the second picture (if you click on it you should get a larger view). Added a sentiment and a few layers of various shades of blue....and voila, a clean and simple card!
Now, off to see what the other cookies are having for tea:
Susan, Dina, Trish, Giovana, and our newest return cookie, Donna.
Make sure you leave a comment and a link to your monochromatic card here or on any of the design team blogs!! We'd love to have you visit for tea :D

smARTworks Tea Party #10 - Stitches and Ribbon

It is time again for another smARTworks Tea Party!! This time it was Giovana's time to give us a challenge! She wanted us to use stitching and ribbon on our cards. What fun! Now, we could use real stitching, faux stitching, or even rub-ons or stamps. I, however, love to pull out my sewing machine and do some sewing on my cards. I think they make cards warm and cozy!! A real home-spun feel. I stamped the small key from smARTworks' Lock and Key onto a piece of vanilla cardstock and then sponged on some creamy caramel and cut it out. Next, I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of designer paper. The sentimet reads "The keys to happiness Something to do. Something to love. Something to hope for." I then used a Post-It Note, cut out a heart shape and used the reverse mask to create the heart shape behind the sentiment. First, I used the HINGE stamp from the Lock and Key set to stamp the swirly image (stamping off the ink first so that it was lighter than the sentiment). Then I did a bit of sponging around the edge of the heart for some definition. I really like how this turned out! Finally, I stitched around all the edges and added the ribbon and button. Now you have to go check out what the other Design Team Members did with this challenge! Giovana, Dina, Susan (and Peggy too), and Trish. Don't forget to upload your own challenge card by leaving one of us a comment. If you post to an online gallery, don't forget to use the keyword SCTP10. ETA - You have to check out the latest smARTwroks announcement....smART bucks, thank you incentives, and a Cookie Plate....so exciting!! and it all starts on FEB 1!! Supplies: Stamps: Lock and Key (smARTworks); Ink-Night of Navy, Creamy Caramel (Stampin' Up!), Jet Black (Archivers); Paper-Creamy Caramel (Stampin' Up!), Navy Blue (Bazzill); Designer Papers (Die Cut With a View); Other - sewing maching, thread, Post-It Note, hobby knife, sponge, button (Hero Arts), floss (DCM), organdy ribbon (from a friend). Thanks for dropping in! Donelda

smARTworks Tea Party #9 - Glittery Creations

So, it was my turn to decide what the challenge was going to be for the 9th smARTworks Tea Party. Boy did I ever have a hard time deciding but I ultimately chose Glitter!! I have a whole bunch of glitter that I never seem to pull out so I thought it would be a good way to get some use of it!!
For this first card I really wanted to use this watch image from the smARTworks set called Watch Trio. Watch images are "in" right now which is why I ordered this set in the first place. In
my mind, I could see a silver watch so I embossed it with silver embossing powder and cut it out. Next, I made the glittery heart. I traced a foam heart onto some light cardboard I have. Then I added a piece of Sookwang tape (this is great stuff and there is lots of fun stuff you can do with it!!) Then, I peeled off the protective coating on the tape and poured red glitter all over it!! Finally, I tied a bit of beading cord around the heart!!
The rest of the card was pulled together easy enough. Some of the detials that make me love this card is the sewing around the red paper, the curve in the black patterned paper piece, and the heart popped up with dimensionals.
Here is the second card I ended up making. I love the look of the flowers. They are actually the flower stamp from the top right set on this page of the smARTworks catalog. It is meant to be used on a domino but I
can't help but use them to make great borders. You can see another example of this HERE on a previous card.
I stamped the domino image repeatedly using my Stamp-a-ma-jig. then, I colored in the flowers with some two-way glue and sprinkled the purple glitter all over it!! I let that dry for a few hours (so I was sure the glitter would stick) and then burnished it with my finger. This ensures it is stuck and actually makes this Jewel Glitter more sparkley. I cut this border out and added it with some black and purple scraps of paper from my pile. Finally, I added the sentiment. I realized that I do not have a "happy birthday" stamp from smARTworks so I had to use one from Papertrey Ink.
Supplies: Stamps - Watch Trio (smARTworks); Ink-Versamark; Paper-Whisper White (Stampin' Up), Pirate Bandana (Sandy Lion), Remember the Moment (Dream Street Papers); Other- silver and white embossing powder, light cardboard, double sided tape (Sookwang), red micro fine glitter (Jewel), beading cord (Bead Party), sewing machine, black thread.

smARTworks Tea Party #8 - Oval

It's that time again!! Time to sit down and have a little tea with my smARTwork friends at the 8th Tea Party!! This time, Peggy set the challenge. She asked us to make our cards' focal image an oval! Well, I just happen to LOVE ovals....so this was a lot of fun for me !!! I actually started the focal part of this card a while ago after seeing THE SECOND CARD in THIS POST made by Dina. She is such an amazing artist and that card just screamed out to me!! I had to try to duplicate it. When I realized that it would fit the challenge, I pulled it back out and finished the entire card. See that strip of patterned paper....it is home-made!! Can you believe it!!?? I can hardly except that I made it myself :-) LOL!!! It is made with a domino pattern repeated over and over. I can see that I am going to use it again and again...in various colors!! (Edited - I had a question about how exactly I made that strip of paper under the oval so here are a few more details. The swirly domino pattern in THE TOP RIGHT SET (DD-18 Patterns) is used repeatedly across a strip of paper. It is essential to use your stamp-a-ma-jig in order to get the edges of the stamp to line up each time. ) The butterfly is cut our and molded to have some dimension. Here is a bit of a side view so you can see it better. Well, once I started with the ovals I couldn't stop!! So I made this second card. I love doing the faux watercolor technique. I'm sure most of you have done it or know about it, but just in case there are a few out there reading this that don't know this great technique....it is so easy you have to give it a try. Simply color onto your stamps using various colors of marker! Once you have all the colors you want on it, lightly spray the rubber stamp with some water. Quickly stamp onto cardstock or watercolor paper. You can let it dry naturally or with your craft heat gun. The rest of the card is pretty obvious. Some designer paper, sponging and a bit of pretty ribbon!! So did you want to come to tea?? If so, feel free to leave a comment on any of the Design Team's blogs and we'll be sure to link you!! You have to go check out what all the other Design Team made: Susan, Dina, Trish, Peggy, and Giovana !! Oh, and look, Donna came to tea !!
