Take 3 Challenge - Large Butterfly Beauty - Take 1

Welcome to a new week of Take 3.  This week's image is a beautiful swirly butterfly from Studio g.  It was given to me by a friend and came out of a larget "stamping kit".  It is rather large ... so I decided to start out by just using bits of it on this tag.  Coloured the leaves with my Stampin' Up! pastel chalks.

I never use my crimper enough .. thought it would add some great texture.

I had planned to enter it into the CAS-ual Fridays challenge to use tags ... but I ended up scheduling this post for the wrong week and totally missed that challenge!  How did I do that??  Sheesh!! Oh well.
Drop back in tomorrow to see what I did for Take 2 using this same image.

CAS-ual Fridays #24 - No Orange Halloween

Over at CAS-ual Fridays the latest challenge is to create a Halloween card that does not have any orange in it!  Well, that isn't really so hard now .. is it??!!

Here is what I ended up with ....  I really like it ... but it kinda makes me think of batman ... no it totally makes me think of batman!!  LOL!!

The bat was cut out of Sookwang tape and then covered with black glitter ... here is a closer picture that almsot captures the sparkliness of the glitter:

If you are a regular here you know that I love to create CAS (Clean and Simple) cards.  This is the first time I've played along with a CASual Fridays challenge but I am sure to be there again!!

Thanks for dropping by,

Robot Wishes

These little robots are from Denami Designs and are so cute!!  I colored them in using Copic markers and then added the sentiments (from Paper Tray - Papertrey Ink).  The speech bubbles are from a small g Studio set I found at Michaels.  The paper is BasicGrey.

So quick and easy yet cute and colorful!!

Popsicle Smile

This was such a fun card to make!!   Last week you saw all my new products ... this was one of those images from one of the gStudio sets.  I acutally cut the senitment from the iamge (I know ...gasp!!) and then stamped the popsicle repeatedly along a light pencil line.  Then I colored them in with my Copics, added the sentiment, some ribbon, and a bit of matting.

For some interest, I added some Glossy Accents (Ranger) on top of each to make them glossy like a real icy treat!

This card meets the challenge over on Marks Finest Papers - which was to make a card using FOOD

Mmmmmmm, these guys are making me want an orange popsicle ... my favorite!!

Thanks for visiting!

Ice Cream and Ribbon Scraps

This card was created to use the lovely pieces of satin ribbon scraps that I had laying around.  That is one of my New Year's resolutions .. to use up the many scraps I have.  The ribbon is from Papertrey Ink and the colors are Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Lavender Moon, and Lemon Tart.  When I looked at them, they looked so yummy together, like ice cream!  So, I grabbed my ice cream cone stamp (g Studio) and colored the scoops using Aqua Mist ink, Berry Sorbet ink and a blender pen.

The sentiment was created from my Trajan Monogram letters (Papertrey Ink).  One more generic card that I could use for a variety of occasions!!

(Note - sorry the colors are so washed out in this picture .. you can barely see the yellow ribbon!  Sheesh!!  I hope to get my photo cube lamps fixed soon but in the meantime I'm afraid you might have to suffer with some poor photo quality until that time!!  Thanks for understanding)

Thanks for dropping by my blog!!

Using Scraps 1 - Halloween Stripes

I am always so inspired by those of you who buy crafting magazines and actually use them for inspiration !!  You know who you are.  So, I decided to take my Sept/Oct 2010 issue of Paper Crafts and actually let it inspire me (in addition to drooling all over the great cards!).

In addition to using the magazine for inspiration, I also decided to go with all scraps!!  Everything you will see in the coming posts will include items from my scrap cardstock pile, scrap designer paper pile, or from my bins of "things" I made but didn't end up using .. you know, like die cuts, stamped images, etc.

This card was created based on the Moxi Fab Color Combo - grey, royal blue, rich purple, and gold (page 32).  Once I pulled out a bunch of the scraps onto my crafting desk, the colors were totally Halloween so I created this card.  The grey shape was hand cut and then spritzed with some Silver Sugar Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels).  The buckle of the hat was coated with some Glossy Accents (Ranger) to make it shine.  the hat stamp is a g studio from Michaels and the sentiment is from an old Stampin' Up! set that retired long ago!!

I am excited to share with you all of the rest of my Scrap Cards inspired by the Sept/Oct issue of Paper Crafts!!   Make sure you drop back in tomorrow!!

Yes, another card made from some of the scraps in my scrap bin.  See that butterfly ... it has been sitting in my scrap bin for a while just waiting to be used.

I love the green squares ... I used a small stamp of flowers from g Studio and versamark ink.  Then, I sponged around each piece with black.  It makes for a great effect!  The sentiment is also from the same gStudio set and the gingham ribbon is from Offray.

I think what I like best is the soft yellow cardstock (Lemon Tart, Papertrey Ink).  It picks up the yellow from the butterfly.

My scrap pile is getting smaller and smaller.  :-)

Thanks for dropping in today!
