Anniversary

Well, guess what i was doing exactly one year ago today.....I was writing my very first blog entry!! I find it hard to believe that it has really been a whole year! I remember having contemplated for a long time whether I really wanted to start a crafting blog or not. And I remember my wonderful husband encouraging me to just do it!! I am glad I did!!

I have met many great people through the blogging world and I've been able to share my hobby with friends and family. And, I have had some great opportunities come along, like being asked to be a guest designer for smARTworks stamp company! Wow!!

This card is actually made with the smARTworks set called Coneflower. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it and that I would need to color that coneflower in purple!! I stamped the flower and butterfly on white cardstock with a waterproof black ink so I could watercolor the images. Still one of my favorite ways to color images is by using my stamp pad as a color palate to watercolor with. If you have not done this before, you use your Stampin' Up classic ink pads. When it is still closed, push on the pad so that the pad is being pushed against the cover. Then, when you open it up (not all the way) you will see a spot of the cover on the inside roof. You can then use a watercolor brush and some water and "paint" with this color!! So, using this technique, I colored the butterfly and flower. Then, I used some purple "paint" to make some shadowing on the left side of the main panel. I like how that turned out. I added 3 quarter inch punched circles and tied some bits of matching ribbon on. This is a great way to add a touch of dimension and use up some ribbon scraps! You know I'll be doing it more often - I have a ton of ribbon scraps!!

Supplies: Paper-Whisper White (Stampin' Up!), designer paper (unknown from the Dollar Store); Stampsm - Coneflowr (smARTworks); Ink-Lavendar Lace, Orchid Opulance, Wild Wasabi, Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie (Stampin' Up!), Jet Black (Archivers); Other - ribbon scraps (pretty sure they are Making Memories), 1/4" hole punch, watercolor brush.

Don't forget that Susan announced that rubber is on sale -- 35% off to celebrate smARTworks getting another year older!!

Thanks for dropping in and enjoy your evening!!
