Crafty Creations Challenge #166 - Yellow + another colour

Today is another Group 1 week at Crafty Creations Challenges #166 ... but you all know I love to play along with my friends!!  Today's challenge is to use Yellow plus one other colour.  I decided to go with grey, London Fog (Memento) to be precise.  A few weeks ago I went searching for a good grey and this was what I ended up purchasing at my local scrapbook store.

Not sure if you can tell but I covered lots of the flowers with dazzling diamonds glitter (Stampin' up!).

The glitter is amazing in real life ... so, like usual, I kept the overall card very clean and simple so not to compete with all that glittery goodness!

Okay, make sure you head over to Crafty Creations Challenges blog to see the rest of the design team cards and to upload your creation for a chance to win this great prize package

See that 6x6 Picadilly BasicGrey pack ... totally worth it .... my all time favourite BasicGrey paper!!

Thanks for dropping in.

Spring - Stripes and Tulips

I love this package of designer paper that is all stripes and dots.

Here I've taken the bright pink stripes and created long panels.  I've also played on Dawn McVey's strategy shown on a Make it Monday video to take 1 small frame and use it to create a larger frame ... except I've done the same with 2 diecuts .. joining them to make 1 longer die cut.  The join is covered by the ribbon!

Tulip image is an inchie from Inkadinkado along with the peace sentiment.
Peace Out!

Play Date Cafe #119 and One Layer Wednesday (OLW) - Hello

I love a black and white + splash of colour challenges!  This one was certainly no exception!  I decided to combine it with this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge - to use 3 or more stamps on your one layer card.

Here is my first card using a new set of stamps (Happy Spring Day - Inkadinkado).   The butterfly and flower centers were coloured in using a blender pen and some Raspberry Fizz ink (Papertrey Ink).  Love masking!

And my second card, however, as you can see I used different colours and added a border of the word 'friend' from Gracious Vases (Papertrey Ink).

Fun, fun, fun!

Hope you are having a wonderful long weekend.  I know I am!

Spring Birthday wishes

I am trying to use some of my favourite papers from some of the paper packs I have purchased over the years.  You see, I am a hoarder ... but I've been trying to use the paper but what I realized is that I use my least favourite papers in the packages .. saving the really beautiful sheets for ... what??!!  I have no idea.  So my challenge to myself is to start using those wonderfully beautiful pages ....

Here is my first go at it....

This lovely flowery page is from the Stella and Rose 6x6 pad by My Minds Eye.

Love that delicious brown with all those lovely flowers on it.  So springy!!
And the tulip stamp is a new to me image from an Inkadinkado stamp set called Happy Spring Day.  There are so many great images in this set ... you'll see more of them soon!

Thanks for dropping by today!

Purrrrfect Birthday

This card was created based on an old CPS sketch.  I really liked it.  I did flip it though, so the cat would be looking into the card.  I wanted to use some of the images form my Inkadinkado inchie set called Cats Galore.  I love the tiger strips and that magical cat image is perfect for a card for a cat lover!!   I created the sentiment using Simple Alphabet (Papertrey Ink) and the stitched circle is from Borders & Corners {Circle} (Papertrey Ink).
Enjoy!!

BasicGrey Challenge - Late

On the Basic Grey blog, the last challenge was an inspiration challenge using this photo. I love the colors and there are all kinds of things that peaked my interest. The striped chair on the right was awesome, and so was that wall paper on the back wall, I was even simply interested in the various shades of blues and greys. However, what won out was that arrangement of 3 square decorative pieces on the left grey wall!!
I used my Flourishes inchie stamps (Inkadinkado) and stamped 2 of the images onto Kazoo Blue paper from the Cupcake collection (BasicGrey) with Versamark ink. Then I heat embossed it with white. I cut them out and popped them up with dimensionals onto more Kazoo Blue paper. I added this to some Going Grey cardstock (Stampin' Up!) which was matted
onto a white card base. I finished the card off by drawing a rectangle around the focal image with my white gel pen (Signo).
Of course, I am too late to enter this into the actual contest because the closing date was yesterday!! Sheesh!!
I will likely be back with more posts today and tomorrow since hubby is working this weekend and it is a cold and snowy day -- great day for creating!!

Daring Cardmakers - Kraft

I don't usually get to play with the Daring Cardmakers challenges but I saw that this weeks challenge was to use Kraft ... and since I love Kraft so much, I decided to play.
I happened to be searching through Vicky's blog (aka Dolly - not sure which is her real name), she's the newest guest designer, and I saw THIS card....wow, how cute is that. I decided I would use it for inspiation for my card.
And, I did not use Kraft cardstock, but rather a Kraft file folder!!! I love the color, it is a bit warmer than the cardstock sold through Stampin' Up!
I created a card base and then stamped on this Fat Cat (All Night Media). Then I used some small stamps from Cats GAlore (Inkakinkado) to create a border on a seperate piece of the kraft file folder. I cut it and added some heavy black lines using a black marker. Next up, a word bubble with my sentiment in it that is hand drawn, stamped, cut out, and adhered to the card with dimensionals. The 'meow' is from the Cats Galore set and the 'happy birthday' are from Birthday Basics (Papertrey Ink).
Finally, I colored in my cat and the little images with my pencil crayons (Prismacolor). I love, love, love coloring on Kraft cardstock!!!!
Now I am anxious to go see what everyone else does with Kraft Cardstock.....off to take a peek!!
Thanks for dropping in!

The Loss of a Pet

My friend Robin recently lost her kitty to old age. For many of us, our pets are an important part of our family and it is a very sad moment to lose them. For Robin, it was very sad so I wanted to make a card to send to her so she would know I was thinking of her. This inchie image was perfect so I stamped it onto some kraft cardstock and colored it in with my Copic markers. Then, I used a layout that I had seen over on Kurtis' blog HERE to finish the front of the card. The stitches are real thread even though I believe Kurtis seems to have used a sewing machine. Supplies: Stamps - Cats Galore (Inkadinkado), Beyond Basic Borders - sentiment (Papertrey Ink); Ink - Jet Black (Ranger), Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up!); Paper - Kraft, Green Galore (Stampin; Up!); Other - brown floss (DCM), paper piercer, dimensionals. ; Here is hoping you have a great day!!!
