Inspiration from Paper Crafts Magazine - Day 2

Welcome back to our Inspiration Challenge.  My blogging buddy, Lindsey, and I decided to use the Paper Crafts magazine (Sept/Oct) as inspiration.  We both picked cards and used them as inspiration to create our own cards.  Yesterday we showcased the card Lindsay picked.  Today is my turn.  I picked this lovely card by Betsy Veldman called Doily Gratitude Card (on page 56).

I focused on the masked and sprayed background, the cluster of embellishments, and the sentiment.
Here is my card:

Nothing makes me happier than using feathers on my cards!  And check out the sentiment piece - see the white rub ons (BasicGrey) to mimic the sentiment piece in Betsy's card.  And that lovely flower was compliments of one of my past Secret Sisters (thanks Linda!).

Now you need to go check out Lindsey's card that she created using Betsy's card as inspiration!
Remember, if you are inspired by either of the Paper Crafts cards (or ours) leave a link in the comment section so we can go and see what you did too!

And....this has been so much fun we are doing it again next Thurs and Friday!!  Can't wait!! Make sure you come back and visit!

Feathers

I love using real feathers on my cards. I was using a sentiment from the Birds of a Feather set (Papertrey Ink) the other day and realized that I had yet to use the bird nest in the set, even though it is one of my favorite images in the set. So I decided to pull it out and ink it up, finally.
Because it is a bird nest, I also decided to use some feathers on the card as my embellishment! I love using feathers as they are 'different' and can be soft like here or masculine like on THIS card.
For the blue panel I used my ruler and a Versamark pen and drew versamark lines. It gives a nice subtle background that doesn't take away from the more important stuff on the card.
Don't you just love that bird nest and those sweet little eggs in it!!
Thanks for dropping in! Your comments mean a lot to me!! Feel free to leave some :D

Feathers and Owl

Here is another example of a card using feathers -- see I told you I was really enjoying feathers these days!! You can see my other feather card HERE.
This card uses the very regal looking owl from the set called Wildlife Reserve from Stampin' Up. I really like all the animal images and I think they make quick and simple cards.
The card came together quite easily. Stamped the owl with Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White cardstock. Matted this with a brown Bazzill paper. placed this with the feathers onto a piece of Sage Shadow cardstock matted with another piece of the brown cardstock. All of this was placed onto a card base of Kraft that was stamped with the fern from Fantastic Foilage using Versamark. The sentiment was one I got from some blog candy I won from Dina over at Mama Dini's Stamperia.
Supplies: Paper-Kraft, Sage Shadow, Whisper White (SU!), brown (Bazzill); Stamps-Wildlife Reserve, Fantastic Foilage (SU!), sentiment (My Heart Stamps for You), Ink-Chocolate Chip, Versamark; Other - feathers (Michaels)
