Crafty Creations Challenge #172 - Circles, circles, circles

Hello.  This week at Crafty Creations Challenge #172 is to use Circles.  There is something wonderful about circles!  I love them!  We are lucky to have Fresh Brewed Designs sponsoring us this week ... and this cute gal under her giant mushroom was a perfect choice.  Check out all the circles on that mushroom!!

So head over to the Crafty Creations Challenge blog to see what Design Team 1 did with circles.  And while you are there, upload your circle-inspired card for your chance to win from Fresh Brewed Designs!!

Thanks for dropping by.

P.S. I am working on some "ideas" in regards to my blog when my life slows down and I am able to start blogging again on a regular basis.  Until then, I will continue to post on Wednesdays for my desgin team challenges.  Thanks again for being patient.

Take 3 Challenge - Color Challenge - Take 3

And finally ... here is my Take 3 card using this demask home-made paper and this awesome color combo.

I had spent many nights dreaming of this card ... the colors, the pop of red, the stripes, the demask, the shape.  Gotta love when a card turns out close to what you originally invision!  And this is an example of how you can use partial images/sentiments.  The strawberry actually comes from a house mouse image ... my favourite ... sleeping with strawberries.  I only used one of the berries, obviously.  The sentiments are also from bigger sentiments (both from Mixed Messages).  The "you're" is from the 'you're too kind' and the "Sweet" is from the 'Sweet baby' sentiment.

That was a FUN Take 3 Challenge.  I might have to do that again.  I know I will be using this colour combo again sometime soon!  Yummy!!

Hope you have a great rest of your week.

Caardvarks - Circular Merry Christmas

I don't often create circular cards but I'm not sure why because they are a lot of fun and I think are a nice change from the standard card size!!
The most recent challenge over at Caardvarks is to create a round card with pizzaz. Well, I don't know if this really has "pizzaz" but I like it!!
It started out with me seeing the latest wreath image released by Papertrey Ink. Knowing I would not be getting it :( I decided that I could create my own!! I grabbed the stitch circle from the Borders & Corners {circle} (PTI) and stamped it with Ripe Avacado ink (PTI). Then, I used the tiny leaf image in the Borders & Corners {square} (PTI) set to create the leaves. I stamped some off to give more dimension. Then, I colored some half pearls with my Vermillion marker (Copic R08) and added them as the berries.
I added a Labels 1 mat of Spring Moss cardstock (PTI) under the white and adhered this onto my round base, with dimensionals, which was stamped with Background Basics: Text Style (PTI) in Spring Moss and then more of the little leaves with Ripe Avacado. I sponged around the edge and added the ribbon which matched the berries perfectly.
Off to see all the other round cards!

Embellish Magazine - Circle Card Color Challenge

Have you checked out Embellish Magazine yet? You should pop over. They have had a few color challenges with the most amazing color combo's!! Really fresh combos and twists like polkadots and circles!! The most recent challenge is to use these colors and create a circle shaped card. These colors are NOT ones I would pick on my own {reminding myself that the whole idea of a challenge is to do something that is different}. This is the card I ended up with. It is definately growing on me. I folded the green textured cardstock and used my coluzzle to cut out the circle. Then I added the colored strips and sentiment. The butterfly is actually stamped onto acetate with StazOn, painted with a light green paint and then adhered to the card with a glue dot. The stitching and the butterfly trail are faux stitching!! Supplies: Stamps-Butterfly(Rubber Stampede), Beautiful Blooms (Papertrey Ink); Cardstock - mint green (Bazzill), Spring Rain, Select White (Papertrey Ink), brown (scrap); Ink - Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up!), Jet Black (StazOn); Other - Coluzzle, acetate, paint and brush, Chocolate Chip marker (Stampin' Up!). So, have you made a circle card lately?? It has been a while since I have so this was just the challenge I needed to get around to it....snort, hehe, get it!! Thanks for dropping in!! Donelda

Bright and Shiny!!

Well, this card is certainly not my usual style!! I am probably going to have to work on this baby a bit more to make it "doable" for me. It all started with that shiney colorful strip.......see it!! Believe it or not, it is Aluminum Tape that I picked up in the hardware area of our Dollar Store. I thought I would be able to use my new Adirondack Alcohol Inks with it... and I was right!! I used Strem, Lettuce, and Wild Plum. Those colors lead me to the turquoise and orchird cardstocks. I added a bit of black to "tone it down a little". The drink is also colored with the same inks and the corner of a piece of felt. I made it circular because Sharon over at No Time To Stamp? had a challenge (Stamp Simply Challenge #12) to make a circle card. And the "tape" fits into Julia's challenge on SCS to use tape in some way on a card. Wow, I think this might be the only time I've ever actually "doubled up" on a challenge. Now, if someone had just had a challenge to use extremely bright colors on a card.... hahaha!! Here is a little peek at the project I will be posting tomorrow! You are going to like it so make sure you stop by for a visit!! Thanks for visiting.
