Dusk Sympathy

I have really enjoyed Michelle Zindorf's blog since the day she started it. She has such a wonderful style of card making. You must go check her blog out!!

I used her brayering technique on this sympathy card. Started with summer sun along the bottom, then added pumpkin pie across the top and finished off with really rust at the very top and corners. And some close to cocoa and chocolate chip sponged across the bottome. The setting sun was made from a post it note!! Simple!!

Supplies: Cardstock-brown (Bazzill), Apricot Appeal, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Stamps-Pond Life, Simple Little Things (both Papertrey Ink), Of a Feather (Memory Box); Ink-Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip (all Stampin' Up!), StazOn Jet Black; Other-brayer, post it note, versamark pen, clear embossing powder, sponge.

Thanks for visiting.

Pond Life by Papertrey Ink

Oh my, I just went to check Nichole Heady's blog Capture the Moment and found that I had an honorable mention for May's Guest
Star Stamper. It was this card!! I
can hardly believe it because you
should see the beautiful cards
that get sent in to her. I am really honored!!!!

When I was a little girl, we spent every summer at the beach. On many evenings, we would have "cattail torches" to play with. Our parents would soak cattails for a while in lighter fluid and then light them on fire once it got dark. Then let us run around playing with them. Can you believe it!!?? I would never, ever let my child do that !!!! It is amazing what we were allowed to do back then that would never happen these days!!

Anyway, back to the card. I started the card with a strip of white cardstock. I brayered Summer Sun across it. Then I added some Pumpkin Pie along the bottom edge to get some graduation of color. Then, using my StazOn Jet Black ink, I stamped on some cattails and reeds from the newest Papertrey Ink set called Pond Life.

Then, I matted this on Basic Black cardstock and adheared it all to a Kraft base card. I added the sentiment Thinking of YOU, also from the Pond Life set. I think this card could be very versatile as it could be a masculine birthday, a general thinking of you, or even a sympathy card. I love the serenity and simplicity of it!!

Supplies: Cardstock-Kraft, Whisper White, Basic Black (all Stampin' Up); Ink-Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black (all Stampin' Up); Stamps - Pond Life (Papertrey Ink).
