Be Positive (scrapbooking)

Hello.

Today I have a scrapbook page to share.  It is about me.  This would be the first time I've ever scrapbooked about me.  I was inspired by a challenge at 2peas - the new In the Mood to Scrap for Jan 1, 2013 where Wilna wanted us to use the mood board she created as inspiration as well as pick a word that means something to us.

 

If you check out the mood board, you will see that I used the quote "creativity takes courage" as it really spoke to me.  I also used the same colour for my 'word' - which was cut the old fashioned way (printed in reverse on paper and cut with a craft knife). 

 

 

Here is a close up of the bottom corner of the page.  I like the little pops of pink and red in the tiny flowers on the punched circles of designer paper.

 

 

And I like the stitiching on some of the elements which gives it a home-made feel.

 

 

Supplies used:  Paper - Deck the Halls from Holly Jolly collection (My Mind's Eye) - Yup ... Christmas paper used on a non-Christmas page  - it is the lovely brown tone on tone damask background paper and oh so beautiful!!, Blush collection (BasicGrey) - that's the turquoise, Sunshine collection (My Mind's Eye) - the pattern used for the hexigons, Market (My Mind's Eye) the cute little flower pattern from those little circles and the back of that is the ledger paper that the word 'Simplify' is stamped onto, Basics White (BasicGrey) - the paper I printed the quote onto and the date tag; Ink - Walnut Stain (Ranger); Other - 1" and 1/2" circle punches (Stampin' Up!), hexigon shapes were traced from the negative cardboard from punching out game pieces from one of my son's games  ... I knew it would come in handy!!, sewing maching, brown pearls from my stash.

 

Sorry about the poor quality photography.  I continue to struggle with lighting in my craft room. Might have to splurge on a better lamp.

2 Sketches 4 You - Nov. 28 Sketch and Giga Guide Lines

And look at this, another challenge card -- created, posted, and linked up to the challenge site before the deadline!! This makes 3 posts for this evening (and I'll be keeping them up all day Friday so make sure you SCROLL DOWN for my Moxie Fab Challenge card and my BasicGrey Oooops card!!!).

So this time it was the 2 Sketches 4 You challenge. I could see how my new Giga Guide Lines stamps could work with this layout so I went for it!! I also got the newish Enchanted Evening cardstock from Papertrey Ink just this week so I had to play with it too!!!

Supplies: all supplies are Papertrey Ink unless indicated: Stamps - Giga Guide Lines, Background Basics: Retro; Ink - Enchanted Evening; Paper - Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Other - white satin ribbon, gel pen (Signo), dimensionals (SU!).

Loonie Stampers Challenge #4 and 2 Ketches 4 You Layout

Some talented Canadian ladies over on the Papertrey Ink Forum got together and decided to start the Loonie Stamper Challenges. "Loonie" because they are Canadian, LOL!! Today the colors were picked by Deanna and they were great colors to work with. As well, she requested that we use the set Simple Little Things, a free stamp set from Papertrey Ink for customers who had purchased at least 12 full sets of stamps in their first year of business. Well, I have the stamp set and the colors (or at least their substitutes), so I had to play.

As well, I've been lurking over at 2 Sketches 4 You, a great new blog that offers some increadible sketch challenges. But I've not actually tried a sketch yet so I decided to pull the two challenges together!! This sketch is Kazan's Sketch #6.

I decided to do the majority of my stamping on the "vintage cream" (which is actually Very Vanilla by Stampin' Up since I don't own any of the Vintage Cream by Papertrey Ink ... yet!) I chose one of the awesome starburst-like flowers in the set and stamped using Chocolate Chip Ink (and no Dark Chocolate yet, either). Although the sketch has a larger sized mat under the main panel, I chose to keep mine quite small as I didn't want to overwhelm the chocolate color with too much orange. I used a small piece of Chocolate Chip for the sentiment rectangle and stamped the sentiment with Craft Very Vanilla ink. This stuff frustrates me.... stamping with this craft vanilla ink never seems to look right to me.... practice needed perhaps??

Anyway, I added a flower that I made. You start by punching a circle, making 5 little slices into the center and then rounding off the "petals". I used my embossing stylus to shape the flower as well. You can see my Home-made Flower tutorial HERE if you are interested.

Finally, I added the Aqua Mist twill along the bottom (and yes, this is official Papertrey Ink Aqua Mist twill -- I love twill and did get some of this with my last purchase). I remembered that I also have some eyelets that match the Aqua Mist almost exactly so I pulled one out and added it to the center of the flower.

Well, I hope this card lives up to the high standards that this very talented group of ladies have set. To see the three other members of the Loonie Stampers Challenge group you need to check out Jewels, Char, and Regan - their cards ROCK!!!
