Take 3 - week of June 27 - part 3

(Note - this post accidently posted a few days earlier than it was supposed to.  I know some of you have seen it and even commented on it .. thanks so much for that and sorry that it is posted again!)

Well today is the Third Take on using the Cosmo Cricket paper line called Circa 1934.  This one just happens to be my favorite of the 3 as well.  I really like that grayish blue with the black and cream.  It is just so elegant!!  The sentiment if from Birthday Basics, a Papertrey Ink set (and indespensible too!).

Well, there is another Take 3 for this week.  Make sure you drop back in next week to see what I have up my sleeve!!

Thanks,
Donelda

Take 3 - week of June 27 - part 2

So today's card is the second take using the Cosmo Cricket paper package line called Circa 1934. Such elegance.

Today I used a different piece of the patterned paper and one of the paper rectangle images.  The pack comes with many of these - so much for a great price!!

And you will want to drop by tomorrow to see the third take using this paper package. But you can't guess what color combo I use tomorrow!!

Thanks for dropping by my corner of the www

Take 3 - week of June 27 - part 1

This week's Take 3 is going to be a bit different.  Instead of chosing an image I was going to use on 3 different cards I decided to create 3 different cards with papers and elements from the Cosmo Cricket paper package called Circa 1934.  It is so elegant and lovely and has been screaming to be used since I bought it a few weeks ago.

Here is my first take: Black and Cream with the addition of red.

Drop back in tomorrow and see what color I use from this great paper package.

OLW 59 - Inspiration photo

Susan R has posted this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge # 59 and I just couldn't resist!  It is a great inspiration photo.  Have I mentioned how much I love daffodils??!!

Once I saw the lovely picture I knew I would use this image from Impression Obsession that a blogging friend of mine, Dina from Mama Dini's Stamperia sent me when she heard I loved daffodils and couldn't find a great stamp of them.  Isn't it a beauty and isn't she just the sweetest person ever??!!
So here is my end result.  I found I again struggled to keep it ONE LAYER!!  I always want to use a panel!  This time I stamped the image and colored it with a combo of Copics and Pencilcrayons.  I added the sentiment (from Vintage Picnic, Papertrey Ink) and called it finished.  A true one layer card that will be easy to mail ... whenever the postal strike ends!!
Thanks for dropping by!  Don't forget to come back on Monday for my latest "Take3" cards!!

Take 3 - Week of June 20 - part 3

Well today is the 3rd take on this awesome Hero Arts image.  Today's card is not nearly as "girly" as the other 2.  For this card I decided to stamp the image onto some kraft cardstock and then color it in using a white watercolor pencilcrayon.  I really like the softer and more subtle effect!  Then again, I tend to gravitate toward the earthy colors!

Thanks for visiting me during my second week of Take 3.  I have another week ready to go for next week so be sure you drop by to see what I have in store!!

Take 3 - Week of June 20 - part 2

Welcome back to "Take 2" of this week's card set.  Today's card took a loooooong time to create.   I stamped and colored the flowers two times, cutting aroudn those tiny guys on one of them to be able to curl the petals and glue them on top.  I've added a second image so you can see how awesome it looks (and besides it took so long, I wanted to make sure everyone saw it!! sheesh!!).

And check it out, I actually scored the base of the card .. been meaning to do that for a long time!!

Thanks for dropping by.  Make sure you pop in tomorrow to see the "third take" on this image ... it is so different from these first 2 cards.

Take 3 - Week of June 20 - part 1

This week's "Take 3" challenge uses a great little image from Hero Arts.  This image can be altered in many ways and was actual the image that got the idea of Take 3 happening (after reading Susan's blog of course!).

Today's card is not a traditional opening card.  The main part of the card does not open but is flat.  The image portion opens to allow the sender to write their wishes there.  I think these type of cards are fascinating!!

The image was colored with Copics, cut out with a Lables 1 die (Spellbinders) and then adhered.

Just wait till you see tomorrow's card using this same image!!

Inspired by ......

I love being inspired by many things I see around me.  The other day I was lookin at this crossword book and thought it would make an awesome card.

What I love even more is when the final result is even better than what I thought it would look like.  I LOVE how this turned out!!  I particulary love the backgrond paper that I made.  I started out with a piece of kraft cardstock.  Then I dragged my Walnut Stain ink (Ranger) across it to make some woodgrain marks.  I then
covered it with a bit of Very Vanilla ink (Stampin' Up!).  It looks so close to the book!  Next I stamped on the leaves (Turning a New Leaf, Papertrey Ink) with Versamark and embossed them in white.  I flipped the band to the bottom.  It was stamped with the 'happy birthday' (from Birthday Basics, Papertrey Ink), the circle and 'friend' (from Paper Tray, Papertrey Ink) and the dotted lines (from Faux Ribbon, Papertrey Ink) and all embossed in white.

Love being inspired by .... all kinds of things!!

Take 3 - Week of June 13 part 3

And today is the "Take 3" card:

I think sticking to one color for a repeated ballon image makes this card a bit more grown up.  And of course blue is a universal color for sure!!

I hope you have enjoyed this week's Take 3 and return next week for another go at it!!

Thanks for dropping by,

Take 3 - Week of June 13 part 2

Hello again.

Here is my "Second Take" using this great hot air balloon from Studio G.  This time I decided to keep each balloon one main color but included many various colors to a randomly stamped background.  I think this card would make any little kid smile!!

Just one more card with this balloon tomorrow and it is a bit more grown up.

Take 3 - Week of June 13 part 1

Hello everyone.  Some of you might have read my blog post HERE where I talk about Susan R's idea of making multiple cards from the same image.  I love the idea and am planning on borrowing it for a while.  It just makes sense.

Over the summer months I am planning on posting various "Take 3" cards.  Each week I will post one card on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday showcasing one stamp (or perhaps one embellishment).  I think it will be lots of fun.  I know I have already had fun today as I got this weeks cards ready!!   By having them posted earlier in the week that still gives me a few days to post individual cards that I might have created over the week but not interrupt the flow of the Take 3.

Thw image that is being showcased this week is a hot air balloon that comes from a $1.50 set (G Studio) that I picked up at Michaels a few months ago.  It is so adorable and, of course, easily adjusted to make 3 different cards because hot air balloons can come in many different colors!

Here is today's card:

This image was stamped and then colored with some bold Copic colors.  Then, I took a strip of white cardstock and using the same colors crated a great embellishment.  The cardbase is Soft Sky from Stampin' Up!

I can't wait to show you tomorrow's card.  It is so different from this one.  See you then!

Take 3 - Limitless Labels

Sometimes I think Susan R. from Simplicity is just brilliant!  She is all humble and what not, but there are days when she does things that I think ... now, why didn't I think of that.  Lately she has been on a kick to use all her stamps and, even more, to make multiple cards with them.  Now how brilliant is that??!!  I mean, you have the stamps out ... you might as well use them and create a few cards with them, right!  So, that is what I did!  Welcome to Take 3 using one of the stamps designed to be used on lables to cover Hershey Nuggets.

Take 1 - Soft and Pretty (other stamps used - Vintage Picnic by Papertrey Ink)

Take 2 - A Bold and Bright Card (other stamps used - Beautiful Blooms, Beyond Basic Borders - both Papertrey Ink)

Take 3 - Elegant (Other stamps used- a Hero Arts set, name unknown to me as I won it from blogland and it did not come in the package)

I think I am going to make a habit of this "Take 3" idea so you will see more of that in the weeks and months to come!!

So thanks for dropping in to check things out.  I just want to shout out at those who are kind enough to leave a comment now and again!  It is truely appreciated.

Crocodile Smile

A cute litte card I created using this great crocodile and matching sentiment from a Hero Arts set that I got at half price!!  Gotta love sales!!  The "grass" was created by tearing the bottom edge of the whie paper and then making streak marks with my green copic marker. I then blended backward streaks with teh colorless blender.  See those tiny little dots, they are from a package of fingernail decals!

Thanks for dropping by my blog!

Image Swap - My June Image

This month it was my turn to share an image with everyone in the Image Swap over at SCS.  I wanted to go with an image that was a bit different than what we were using (mostly cute little girls) so I picked these tulips from The Stamp Barn.   I sent some images on basic rectangles and also one cut with an oval die cut.  To make things a little "fun" I asked all the ladies to create a card that is more Clean and Simple than their typical style.  That doesn't mean it has to be a true CAS card, but rather they need to reduce their layers, embellishments, etc. than what they would usually use.  I am sure some of them are ready to kill me!!  LOL!!  I hope not and I hope that they simply use it as a way to stretch their creativity!!!

Can't wait to see what everyone else did.  You can come and check it out over HERE.

Thanks for dropping by for a visit.

Birdie on a Branch

I received these products from my great Secret Sister, Linda.  I colored the bird and cut him out.  Then I adhered him to the card on a real branch!!   The card has such great dimension in real life.  and there is that die from Papertrey Ink that Linda got for me ... she soooo knows how much I love it!!
Thanks for dropping by for a visit.  Enjoy your weekend.

Busy Time of Year

Hi all,

I have been very irregular with posts these days.   I want to share that June is a busy time of year for us.  My son is in soccer, on a travelling team and I am the manager this year so that takes a lot of our time.  As well, he continues to be in guitar, another night!  And, there is the end of school year events, baking and cooking for various things and potlucks going on at his school and my work, etc.  As well, my son just celebrated his 12th birthday so with that comes some shopping, baking, visiting, etc.  And my husband's birthday is next week ... so more of the same.

On a bit of a different note, I want to clarify that I have been visiting your blogs on occasion, however, for some reason I can't seem to leave comments these days.  I have tried ... over and over and over!!!  I get to a sign in page for blogger, add the required info, but then the comment won't post and it sends me back to the blogger log in page again!!  So frustrating!  So, just know that I have been popping onto your blogs and enjoying them but just unable to tell you how much!!!

All in all I guess I just want to clarify why I've been so absent from here.  I will be back in full swing again, promise, but it might be another couple of weeks until we get settled around here!!   In the meantime, I will try to post on occasion.

Thanks for understanding
